Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 67: Almost Caught Up
Chapter 68
Aria’s POV
My heart leapt and my eyes snapped wide in shock.
“Come on. What will the Alpha be doing here dressed like a hobo?”
They were whispering to each other but their voices were audible for me to hear. What if that wasn’t me? Then they would have ended up fighting with a stranger.
“Let’s hurry up.”
Bianca said anxiously.
“I hope she didn’t hear what we had discussed because if she does, we are doomed. You know how words fly in this pack like a plague…”
The rest of Nina’s words vanished as they approached the entrance door.
I sighed in relief, patting my chest for not being caught. Those girls were idiots, if they’d stayed there for long, I would have decided to let them know it was me.
A few minutes later, a waitress came again but before she could tap my shoulder again, I turned around.
“Those ladies are regulars here and I can tell you, they are up to no good.”
She sighed, shaking her head. She looked like she knew something about them.
“Oh…you mean them?”
I pointed at the ladies in the next booth pretending not to know he was referring to Nina and Bianca.
“No, the ones that got up from here. I just wish the Alpha leader or any of the Alpha brothers would find out what they are doing and jail them.”
Interesting.
“What are they doing?”
I asked her, making sure not to make eye contact with her because everyone in my pack already knows my face.
“I think they are into drug trafficking, girls trafficking, and other things I can’t figure out yet.”
So that was it? That was their secret business? No wonder Nina looked more sophisticated than the last time I had seen her.
“Why didn’t you report to the Alphas?”
I asked her.
“Because I don’t want to get myself into trouble. People like that are dangerous and one has to be careful with them.”
Whoa! That was something that makes people normalize. They think coming out to say the truth about a particular people would put them in trouble and that way, the bad people continue doing what they are doing.
“You are right, but that is a bad decision.”
She scoffed.
“Say whatever you want, lady. We all want to live. Anyways, your bill.”
She placed a paper on the table containing the money that had rounded up to five hundred dollars for food that I didn’t even eat much of.
As I left the restaurant, I pondered a lot of things that needed to be changed in the pack. First, the cost of meals in restaurants needed to be changed so others from the lower classes could be able to afford it. Second, the unemployed must be given job opportunities especially the youths so that their desperation for money wouldn’t land them in dangerous jobs.
When the taxi drove inside the company, Bianca’s car was parked at the parking lot. Quickly, I headed towards the car because she said she would leave the phone in there.
And true to her words, her phone was on the driver’s seat because the car wasn’t tinted and the car was locked.
I tried opening it with the keys I was carrying but it didn’t budge then I used the hair clip in my hair and it opened.
I quickly grabbed the phone, unlocked it as it wasn’t even on a password, and started going through it.
‘Can you just transfer everything in your phone? She could come out at any time.’
Liza suggested.
I did as she said but the file was too large and was slowing so I was left with no choice but to leave that place with Bianca’s phone. How I would be able to return the phone without missing her was the real problem.
As the content of her phone was still transferring to mine, I changed into my dress and shoes, and tidied up my messy hair. After that, I applied a light makeup and paced around the meeting hall waiting for the transfer to be done.
After half an hour, it worked and as I hurried towards the parking lot from the back door, I saw Bianca going to her car.
She wasn’t looking happy which made me think she must have found out that her phone was missing.
“Thank goodness!”
She sighed in relief after seeing me.
“I have been waiting for more than an hour now, Alpha Aria and your assistant wouldn’t tell me anything about your whereabouts.”
Speaking of my assistant made me remembered whag Kyra had said regarding Bianca and made me wonder how she got to know that Bianca was a bad one.
“Oh, I was in a meeting. Where is the file?”
I asked as she wasn’t holding anything.
“I left it with the secretary to give to you when you are back. I am in a hurry now, yesterday I received a message from a close friend that my dad is at the hospital.”
Her dad? What a lie. Kael already told me that she had no parents and was living alone.
“Oh, that’s so sad. Can you go back to the secretary and bring over the file?”
She nodded and as she turned to leave, the secretary came out of the building ruining my plan. That enraged me but I kept calm.
“There you are, Alpha. She wants me to give you this.”
He stretched his hand, handing over the file. Where was he going with the file? I was sure he didn’t know I was standing outside.
“Why did you come out with it?”
Bianca asked, looking at him suspiciously.
“I was looking for the Alpha.”
“Stop lying. You could have given it to her assistant or taken it to her office.”
“What do you mean, lady? Are you trying to say I wanted to go give it to someone?”
“Your word not mine.”
As they were busy arguing, I used that opportunity to throw the phone on the driver’s seat and quietly closed the door.
“Bianca is right. Why would you…”
I was interrupted by a car that had driven inside the company at speed.
“Who is that maniac? Where is the security man?”
As the security guards approached the car, the door flew open and who stepped out of it made my saliva taste like poison.
Alex.
