Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 76: Rebelling Against My Brothers to Find the Truth
Chapter 77
Aria’s POV
I didn’t go back to the mansion after leaving Jace’s place, I headed straight to one of my apartments in the pack.
I’d already told my brothers that I would stay out of their way and wouldn’t return to the mansion so going back there would make them think I had changed my mind and was ready to heed their warning about Jace.
I settled down, ordered a maid to prepare a hearty dinner, and when I sat down to eat, everything that had happened that day came flooding in like a wave.
I had to try everything I could to shake it off, because if I let it, it would ruin my mood and appetite. To be able to do things properly, I had to at least eat even a portion of food.
That night, I couldn’t sleep so I decided to check what was happening on the internet and the moment I turned on the wifi, I was met with a tremendous shock.
“Have you guys heard? The Alpha leader had a clash with her brother today and has moved out of the house.”
“Goodness! But why?”
“Isn’t it ironic that things haven’t been going well with that family since she arrived?”
“Absolutely true. Even Lana turned against them because of her.”
As I read those comments, anger was swirling in my bloodstream, and at the same time, confused.
How on earth did the news get out that I wasn’t in the mansion? It hasn’t even been a full day yet yet everyone in the pack already knew about it?
When I said I was suspecting one or more of the servants to be responsible for spreading information about everything happening inside the mansion to the pack, Elias said that was impossible.
Then who told the person who posted it first on the internet? Was it my brothers? It would never be them.
I sat upright, going over all the comments under that post. And weird enough, nobody was talking about the fugitives we arrested the previous day, they were all talking about me leaving the mansion after fighting with my brothers.
Not seeing any post about that was surprising. How could they have missed that? I mean, it was all over the place that Nina and Kael’s secretary were arrested, why not the internet?
“Something is wrong somewhere. Don’t you think so?”
Liza bobbed her head, yawning.
‘Did someone hack and delete all the posts about that?’
Liza might be correct. Maybe someone hacked into the system and deleted all the posts and comments about the arrest. If not, the whole kingdom should probably be arguing about it the way they’ve always done on the internet.
As I was going through the comments, a call notification popped up, interrupting the connection.
When I saw the caller, I hissed and tossed my phone on the bed.
Why was he calling me? Wasn’t he the cause of me leaving the house?
Kael didn’t stop calling, my phone rang and rang until it turned off by itself. And a few minutes after my phone shut down, a knock came on the door.
“Alpha Aria?”
A maid servant called, her voice low with a hint of nervousness.
“What is it?”
“You…your brother is here.”
I leapt to my feet and headed towards the door, anger gushing inside my chest.
“Tell whoever it is among them that I won’t…”
Before I could finish my statement and lock the door, the door flew open and Kael stepped in. Beside him were the rest of my brothers, each of them looking so displeased with me.
“Get out, you guys!”
I pointed at the door yet none of them left.
“Why are you doing this, Aria?”
“Why do you think I am doing this?”
“You’ve got to snap back to your senses and know the gravity of what you are doing. You aren’t a little kid any longer. Why can’t you realize that your action is causing an uproar on the internet?”
“And do I look like I care about that?”
I shot at them, glaring.
“You know what? Just leave because you guys would only provoke me more. I came here to have peace of mind and to also focus on the things that are much more important to me…”
“Are you saying we aren’t important?”
Damien gasped.
“You guys aren’t being helpful right now!”
“Is this still about Jace or have you got another thing bothering you?”
“I am bothered by the fact that my brothers want to control me even as the Alpha leader. I am concerned that you guys are only looking at what happened years ago instead of focusing on the future. Why won’t you listen to me when I say we should investigate if the Supreme Alpha’s family had a hand in our parents’ deaths?”
“Because that isn’t necessary.”
“Yes, it is. Jace and I are mates, true mates. If you think staying far away from him is easy for me, then you are wrong. Either you like it or not, I am going to investigate it.”
“And if it turns out that Jace’s parents took our parents’ lives, what will you do?”
“I will still dig deep to know the real cause of that!”
“Meaning you chose Jace over us?”
“Yes! If that will give me peace of mind!”
I stormed out of the room, entered the next one, and turned the key to prevent them from entering.
‘Ignore them, Aria, you’ve got my support.’
Liza scoffed,
Of course, ignoring them was the best thing. Listening to them wouldn’t help. It would only create enmity between Jace and me.
So if rebelling against them to find the truth was the best thing to do, I was ready to see the end of the story. Even if it would take me years to reach, I must do all I could to reach it.
Rejecting Jace or letting Jace reject me wasn’t going to happen. He is my mate, my true mate and I must never let anything come in between us.
