Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 78: The Special Connection
Chapter 79
Aria’s POV
I wasn’t asleep nor was I busy when Jace’s message came in. I was still awake, pondering our earliest discussion.
Seeing that message shocked me a bit especially the part where he said Regan was the boss of Nina.
How did that even happen? Nina was such a sweet and innocent girl. Could Regan have initiated her after I unfriended her?
But it hadn’t even been a year since I cut ties with her, and according to the report, Nina had been in that business for years, even before I set foot in the Bloodmoon pack.
Well, whatever it was, I was so happy that Jace was going to strip the Alphas involved in that of their title.
And Lana was in his custody? How? That was also surprising.
I thought she would have come over him by then since she was on the run and teaming with the Rogues.
Anyway, I would deal with Lana later, since she was already in custody, and would only focus on the situation on the ground.
Actually, when I saw Jace’s message regarding what we didn’t discuss, I had a feeling that he wasn’t even taking it so seriously and didn’t mind if things turned sour in the future causing us to separate for good. But who knows? He might still be working on that and just came across the new revelation.
The next morning after I was done sorting things out at home, I went to the headquarters where Nina was still locked up in the special prison. All the other people were transferred to the cell except Nina whom I had ordered not to be taken there yet as there were a few things I wanted to ask her.
The moment she saw me, Nina’s brows creased into a frown,
“What do you want now, Aria?”
She snapped, biting her lower lip aggressively.
“I told you my siblings have no hand in this yet…”
“Cut me the slack, Nina, I didn’t come here to exchange unnecessary words. I came to inform you that the person behind all this, I have figured it out.”
Her countenance suddenly changed into a confused one as she stared at me bruises all over her face.
“What do you mean? Nobody is behind this, it is all my doing.”
Typical Nina. She thought hiding the truth and covering for Regan would do her any good?
“Regan is behind this. Are you so stupid to even cover up for someone such as that?”
“And that’s none of your business, Aria!”
Suddenly, tears started streaming down her face, etched with fear.
“Why wouldn’t you just punish me and close this case? Must you dig deep in what doesn’t concern you?”
She fumed, crying out loud. The way she was acting made me understand that something was definitely wrong. Nina wouldn’t have covered up for Regan just like that. He was a rogue, a dangerous one. And it must be possible that he threatened her.
“Tell me why you are scared and I will see what I can do.”
As if I had just put some hope in her mind, she looked up and wiped the tears on her face.
“Regan threatened to take my sibling’s life if I ever mentioned his name.”
Aha! I knew it!
“That is why you shouldn’t have dug deep, Aria. Now, my siblings are in trouble and they will die for the sins they didn’t commit.”
She crawled to where I was standing and held my legs.
“Please save my siblings’ lives. I know I have betrayed you but have mercy, Alpha Aria. And if you promise to keep them safe, I will tell you the names of all those involved in this pack.”
Keep her siblings safe? Well, that was my job as the Alpha leader since they were members of my pack. But if I find any of them guilty of anything, then their safety wouldn’t be guaranteed.
“Spit it out.”
She sniffled, released my legs, and sat upright.
“Your new assistant is an informant. She delivers all the things happening in this pack to the Supreme Alpha who in turn reports to the king.”
Great!
“Believe me, Aria, the king and the Supreme Alpha have a hand in your parents’ death. They didn’t only kill your parents, but other people in this kingdom because of something important.”
“The Supreme Alpha? Who among them? Jace or who?”
I had to ask because it was confusing.
“Not Jace, his uncle, the former Supreme Alpha. So about your assistant. I once saw Kyra in the city when I went there to meet a client so I had two of my guys follow her. They saw her meeting with the Supreme Alpha in a secluded place but none of them knew what they discussed. However, when I inquired of Regan if he knew anything about that, he said Kyra was feeding the Supreme Alpha information about you and…”
She gulped down, fear taking over her.
“The Supreme Alpha’s uncle is plotting to kill you and the Supreme Alpha because there is a special connection between you two that only he and the king know.”
Wow! I was so speechless and only stared at Nina as she said the things I never knew before. No wonder Jace’s uncle acted so suspicious the day he saw me. But what special connection do Jace and I have?
“Those are the only things I know, Aria, so please keep my siblings safe, they are innocent. And there is also something you should know.”
She got up, closed the distance between us, and held my hands.
“Tomorrow, go to the city and coerce the Supreme Alpha to take you to the mansion where he grew up. When he does, sneak into the study room and check the old documents in the middle of the right bookshelf. You will find a beige envelope inside a huge book, that is where all the secrets lie.”
Nina knew all that? But how?
“Do not allow anyone to see you, Aria, or else, they will try to take your life right there. If the Supreme Alpha is on your side, then tell him to help you, and after you’ve found that envelope, the real cause of your parents’ deaths will be let out.”
