The Billionaire’s Surrogate
Chapter 23 (FIRST TROUBLE)
Chapter 23
“Follow me.” The woman led her out of the quarters to the garden. It was a very big one. Emily saw other girls and boys picking flowers there. Some of them were just her age while some were younger and older than her.
She was convinced the woman was the leader of them all when she saw how the girls and the boys reacted when they saw her. They were so scared like they’ve seen their Deity.
“This is where you’ll work. And remember, do not break any of the rules give to you!” She scanned Emily from head to toe and shook her head disgustingly. “This is what you get for not being grateful.” She murmured and walked away leaving Emily staring at the Servants.
“Are you going to just stay there or what?” A lady who seemed to be younger than her smirked. “She’s a princess who’s waiting for prince charming to come rescue her.” Another one added.
“Oh maybe the prince charming is the Boss.” A boy who was known as the ' Mr know all' among them said and they all burst in to laughter. Emily would have answer them one after the other but she ignored them.
She was already dealing with the pains Harry and his Mum had instilled in her heart already. She walked with her face looking at the floor not knowing where to stop.
“Hey, watch it.” A lady pushed her and she nearly fell on a guy. “Hey girl, watch were you are going. I’m not interested in you.” He scoffed and the rest laughed. Emily kept on walking, ignoring their hurtful words. She finally came to the last side of the garden and stopped.
“Cinderella doesn’t know where to go again.” A girl teased and they laughed at her. She picked up a watery can unsure of what to do. “Don’t tell me you are going to water that flower?” A boy asked her.
“No, leave her alone. Allow her to water it.” She turned to Emily who was looking so confused. “Go ahead dear, water the flowers,” she said and without having another thought, Emily poured some water on the flower.
Immediately she did that, the flower died and others laughed at her. She believed someone who lied to her again and got herself in to another trouble.
“Why are you disturbing the whole place!” They all went mute when the woman came. “I’m talking to you!” she yelled. “Ma’am, it’s her.” The girl that told Emily to pour the water pointed at her. “What did she do?” The woman asked.
“She watered those flowers and they died.” The woman was so angry after seeing the flower. Emily didn’t know what to do, she held the watery can and instead of dropping it, she poured the remaining water on the flower out of frustration making it died completely.
“You! Do you know what you’ve just done!” she shouted at her. Emily dropped the watery can and looked at the girl.
“She was the one that told me to water it.” She pointed at her. “Me? When?” The lady pointed to her chest. “Yes, everyone here is a witness.”
“Don’t you dare lie on someone for what you did!” She vent at her. “But I’m not lying, she…” “Emily, follow me.” Emily followed the woman out of the garden.
“Emily, do you even know what you are doing? You are here to work and not fool around,” she said to her after they were outside. “But I was working.” She defended herself.
“You call that work?” She chuckled. “I swear the lady was the one that told me to water the flower. I have no knowledge concerning flowers,” she sighed.
“Alright then, I’ll assign someone to teach you.”
Emily was so hungry, she hasn’t even brush her teeth before she was sent out of the apartment. She had started to feel so dizzy and her temperature was getting high. There was only one way for her to be taken inside.
She had tried that with her step mum before and it worked. She was so hungry and weak that she couldn’t even may her finger on anything again.
Thud!
The woman turned around and found Emily lying on the carpet grass.
“Emily!” She called but got no response. She kicked her with her leg “I know you are pretending, get up!” She kicked her again but Emily didn’t move. She wouldn’t want to spoil her plans.
“Emily! Oh my God.” The woman exclaimed. She hurried inside the garden and two to three servants came back with her. One was a female while two were male. “She has fainted.” She pointed to Emily who was still lying on the grass.
“What do you want us to do with her? Dump her?” One of the boys asked. “Have you lost it? How do you expect me to tell you to dump a person? Come on, take her to the room.” She turned to the girl.
“Take care of her, I’ll be right back.” They did as she instructed and she walked away. Emily felt as they carried her up. She wished it was Harry who had carried her because he wouldn’t have did that like he was carrying a sack.
“Let’s throw her on the bed.” One of the boys suggested. “You are going to injure her. She’ll hurt her head.” The other one said. Emily heard all they were saying. She would have opened her eyes when the first guy suggested they threw her but she wouldn’t want to spoil her plans.
“Guys, just slowly put her down.” The girl whispered to them. She heard the first guy murmured under his breath which means he wasn’t happy with what the girl said. They lay her down slowly and left the room.
