Chapter 29 (A HOLE IN THE HEART)

“Noo! I’m not a thief.” She rolled her eyes and he giggled. “I have many of them in my bag. Just talk to me whenever you need if and I’ll bring it for you. Secretly,” she whispered.

“Alright, Aunt Emily,” he giggled. “That’s my boy. Now eat and don’t let your sister bully you again. You and I will deal with her when she tries anything with you again,” she smiled at him.

“Isn’t the sky so pretty?” Michael sighed. “I wish everyone’s heart is as peaceful and pretty as the sky.” Emily exhaled. “But yours is, your heart is so pure,” he smiled at her.

“But there’s a very big hole in there.” Her eyes twitched. “I haven’t see my Jeff for more than a month now. I wonder how he’s faring in there. I missed him.” She covered her face with her palms. “I missed my son.” She let the tears rolled freely.

“So sorry about that. Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s in a very good hand. Harry loves him and he will take care of him.” Michael patted her back softly. “I hope so. I don’t want him to fall in to that woman’s hand, she’s so evil. She might hurt my Jeff,” Emily cried.

“But I’m confused. How did you fall in to this trap? You are so smart to be fooled,” Michael said. “He gave me a proper to sign, I read everything but didn’t even concentrate on it. I don’t know what was written there, I can’t remember even a word.” She sniffed.

“Oh my God, that’s a very big mistake,” he said sadly. “Yes, I was such a fool. I thought Harry was in love with me.” She cleaned her face. “Where’s the paper you signed?” he asked her. “Ron took it away, he’s Harry’s Assistant.”

“I have a plan,” he said and she looked at him. “We’ll retrieve that document and then read everything there.” He suggested. “What’s the use since I can’t get Jeff back,” she sighed. “This might be the key. I think there’s something wrong with that document.” Michael was convinced.

“But how?” she asked him. “First, you’ll have to ask Ron where the document is and then we will move to the next plan,” he said. “But what if it’s with him?” she asked. “I don’t think so. Ask him first then I’ll tell you the next thing.”

Emily and Michael went back to their rooms when they were done eating. She pondered on what he said earlier as she sat down on the bed. It appeared Michael was also smart and not the way others thought he was.

“Emily, I don’t want to see you with Michael again.” Naomi said to her. “Why?” she asked him. “I’m sure he already told you the relationship between me and him. I hate you and that means Michael hates you too,” she said.

“Oh really? Then why didn’t he show that to me? Naomi, you are so selfish. Allow him to be with the people he wants to be with. It’s not a must he listen to you. You don’t even hang around with him,” she scoffed.

“And that reminds me, why did you tamper with my flowers? The ones I planted today.” She asked. “Because I don’t like you, I don’t like anything about you. If you don’t stay away from Michael, I’ll keep on destroying your things and at last, I’ll destroy you too.” She grinned Mischievously and lay down.

“I don’t blame you.” Emily shook her head. She also lay down on the bed and closed her eyes.

Next morning, Emily kept an eye on the apartment so that she wouldn’t miss Ron when he comes out. Minutes later, she saw Ron coming out from the apartment. She dropped the scissors in her hand and ran away. Others were surprised on why she was running.

“Ron.” She called and he turned to her. He was about to enter the car. “Emily?” He looked around before going to meet her. “What is it?” he asked her. “I…I…” She tried to catch her breath.

“Harry’s Mum won’t be happy seeing you here,” he said worriedly. “Drop the concern act, you pushed me in to this. You was the one lying to me.” She rolled her eyes. “I know and I’m so sorry about that. I didn’t know it would turn out like this.” He apologized.

“Whatever, I’ll never forgive you until you get me out of here with my son,” she scoffed. “Please Emily.” He shook his head and sighed. “S why did you call me?” he asked her. “That stupid document you made me sign, where is it?” she asked him.

“I gave it to Harry,” he said. “You gave it to him? Where did he put it?” she asked again. “I don’t know, but I think it’s in his room,” he said. “Why are you asking me about it?” he asked her. “Nothing, I just hate it,” she said.

“How’s Jeff?” Ron turned around again before answering her. “Jeff is fine. I have to go now before the Boss comes out and sees me with you,” he said. “Whatever, just go.” She waved her fingers.

“Good bye.” He hurried away but Emily didn’t, she watched him as he hurried to the car. Harry came out from the apartment, he saw Ron coming back and Emily standing very far away with her hands on her waist.

“What did Emily say to you?” Harry asked Ron as he drove him to the office. “She was asking of Jeff,” he said. “Jeff?” Harry chuckled. “Why did you go there at first?” he asked him. “Madam Gloria was telling me they are out of foodstuffs when she met me there.” He lied.
