Chapter 47 (LOST)

“In that room! Are you kidding me?” He exclaimed. “Harry, why are you over reacting? Emily isn’t just a maid, she’s like a child to me. Leave that girl alone,” she sighed.

“Alright, she can take care of him but she can’t stay in the same room with him. A maid shouldn’t stay in the same room with my child. There are rooms there.” He pointed to the door leading to the apartment maids rooms.

“Emily isn’t a maid. If you want her to stop living in the same room with Jeff, go bring his Mum,” she said and concentrated on the book she was reading.

“What’s happening here and what are you two arguing about?” Evelyn came down the stairs wearing a black long robe. She sat on the sofa turning her back on the stairs.

“Harry, what’s wrong? You and Mum are having an argument again right?” she asked him but he didn’t say a word.

Harry wouldn’t say anything to her there because Grandma was there.

“Harry is angry I brought another girl to take care of Jeff whom the both of you can’t take care of,” Grandma explained to her and she raised a brow.

“Another maid?” She looked at Harry. “Yes,” he sighed. “Who’s that?” his Mum was confused on why Harry wasn’t happy with Grandma’s decision. After all, a maid is a maid.

“Her name’s Emily and you’ll see her later,” Grandma said without raising her head. “Emily? Who’s Emily?” Evelyn asked. That name sounded familiar to her and when she remembered who the name belongs to, she brushed the thought aside.

“It can’t be her.” She said under her breath. Just then, Emily came down the stairs holding Jeff to her chest.

“Hi Grandma.” Evelyn didn’t turn around because she thought it was one of the maids. “My sweet Emily.” She turned when she heard her mentioned the name.

“You!” Evelyn sprang to her feet. “Good day, Ma’am,” Emily grinned Mischievously. “Do you know her?” Grandma asked removing the glasses. “N… No.” She shook her head.

“You are done bathing him right? Bring him here.” Emily walked to the sofa and handed Jeff to Grandma.

“Have you eaten?” she asked her. “No,” Emily answered. “Okay then, go find something to eat in the kitchen.”

“Yes Grandma.” She looked at both Evelyn and Harry and grinned Mischievously then made her way to the kitchen.

“Why are you still standing?” Grandma asked Evelyn who was watching Emily entering the kitchen. “Mum, but it’s not necessary you bring another maid in to the house. She’s part of the servants and we don’t know if she’s Contaminated or not.”

“That’s what I’ve been trying to let you understand, Grandma,” Harry said and she scoffed. “Okay now, you guys are teaming up and wants me to send Emily away right?”

“We are not teaming up. Each one of us is saying their mind.” She rolled her eyes. “I don’t care whatever you call it. But be rest assured that Emily won’t leave this place until you bring back the boy’s Mum.”

“Mum…” She cut her off. “Don’t Mum me. You should be the one doing this not me. Jeff is your grandchild but you chose to punish him by doing what his Dad wants.”

“Grandma, I only needed a child not a wife. If his Mum returned back here, you’ll force me to marry her which I don’t want,” he sighed.

“I won’t force the innocent girl to marry you unless she’s the one that wants that. You know what? I’m done talking about this. It’s better you welcome Emily now or stay away from her,” she said and started playing with Jeff. Harry and Evelyn left the sitting room to her room.

“Mum, what’s all this? How did Grandma find Emily. Does this means she already know who Emily is?” He was confused. “I don’t know, I’m as confused as you are. But Gloria has some explanation to do.”

“Yes, you have to ask her about this. Emily can’t stay here.” He stormed out of the room. “Oh God, this isn’t right.”

She paced round the room thinking of a way to send Emily out of this house this time because her mum would bring her back if she sent her to the Servants Quarters again.

“My diary, I have to write this down because this isn’t something to forget about.” She went to the mirror drawer where she usually put the diary pulled it. But the diary wasn’t there.

“Maybe I put it in the wardrobe.” She went to the wardrobe but still, she didn’t see it. “Weird, these are the only place I put it.” She searched everywhere in the room but couldn’t find her diary and her heart started beating fast.

“No, I can’t lost this. I have a lot of secrets in there.” She hurried out of the room to Harry’s room. He was preparing to enter the bathroom when she came in.

“Harry, have you seen my diary?” she asked “No. Why?” Harry asked her. She was too terrified to answer him and she left the room.

She went in to her Mum’s room and searched everywhere but didn’t see it there too.

“Emily.” She went to her room, searched the wardrobe and everywhere she could but didn’t see it there too. Evelyn went back to her room, she sat on the bed and held her head with her both hands.

“This can’t be. I can’t lost this. Who might have took it?” She stood up again trying to remember how she misplaced it. The last time she used it was weeks ago and she has forgotten where she put it.

“It’s not in this room. Someone took it. Who could that be.” She was so confused, scared and terrified.
