The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 102: The Button
Chapter 102
Even if she seeked out his help now, he wasn’t going to help her. He would be more than happy to know that she was being married off and he would have nothing to do with her anymore.
And would she even be able to ask for his help? Could she bring herself to be so shameless and ask him to her out?
She’d make a fool out of herself and he might even turn a deaf ear to her. He would congratulate her for bringing herself back here and putting herself in more trouble.
After all, he hadn’t looked so pleased that she was coming to see her parents. Although he didn’t voice it out, she had seen it in his expression.
And he’d be a fool to keep helping her out again and again. He’d think it crazy and she also found it absurd.
Maybe if she had told him about what happened at the bar. That she had bumped into Cedric and what he tried to do, things wouldn’t be like this. He would have surely stopped her from coming to the mansion, which had been her fear in the first place.
She had thought that if she told him, he wouldn’t allow her to come. And she was confident that if she came and told her parents about what Cedric did to her at the bar, they’d see his true color and take her side.
But things didn’t turn out the way she wanted. They way she had thought they would turn out. Not only had she fallen into Cedric’s trap again, she had also blown up her chance of being with Greg.
And now, the only solution was to marry Cedric. Even though it would only be for a short time, things were not going to be the same again after that. She wouldn’t be sure she would get out of that marriage without a scar or two.
She would come out of it a divorced lady and even if she would gain her freedom in the end, things were never going to be the same again. It might take a few months or even a couple of years to achieve that. But by then, things would have gotten haywire and she was never going to have the opportunity to tell Greg she was sorry, or even thank him about the help he had offered her.
He might not even recognize her then. And if he didn’t want to have anything to do with her now, he also wouldn’t do the same when that time came.
At a farther end of the city.
Greg stiffled a yawn as his eyes were fixed on the scene in front of him. A pole was brought to the middle of the room and several girls were dancing around it.
The house was booming with loud music and in every corner were couples, dancing and doing whatsoever they felt like.
Men from their cycle. Every one was present. It wasn’t a birthday or an important event. His brother didn’t usually throw these kinds of parties.
Whenever they wanted to have fun, they’d mostly go somewhere else to catch it.
But not always in their place. And he didn’t need to ask why his brother had been throwing these parties.
The same events had been playing themselves out for the past three days. George would set up a party and drag him here to join in the fun.
And he’d find himself resisting, until something promoted him to give in and make an appearance.
He didn’t want to think of what had prompted him today though. His new substitute assistant had been getting bolder by day. Who knew that pestering him in the office wouldn’t be enough for her?
She had even followed him to his home, he wondered how she knew the place. And he’d had to spend the she evening, fending her off with excuses, while fighting the urge to fire her.
Why was he still resisting? Why the hell would he not come back to his senses already?
It had been three days. Three freaking days. And here he was, acting like a slowpoke. Three days were enough to have her off his mind. They were more than enough to get him forget her completely. She was too innocent and she didn’t want him. She was heartless and he didn’t deserve her.
Damnit! He shouldn’t be thinking of her. He should focus on the party instead. Even though he didn’t have the urge to join. He should watch and at least enjoy the show.
And why the hell would he not join? Why did those provocative dresses irritated him this much? And why did almost all the ladies at this party turn out to be blondes?
Was the universe making fun of him?
He had never minded those kinds of dressings. Only bold ladies wear them. The kinds of ladies that were his taste. Even though his tasted had shifted a little in such a weird way, he’d make sure to turn himself back to normal.
He had to get his bearings and breakout of this short term fantasy already. He had to stop seeing her face everywhere he looked. He would take action and go back to his old ways.
But even as he thought that a thousand times in his mind. Just like the other two parties. He found himself glued at the same spot. Sitting alone on a barstool with an untouched glass of wine in his hand.
He was practically hiding. He didn’t see why he should be hiding? The heck, he was hiding from anything.
He shouldn’t be sitting here alone and having thoughts of leaving. He should give in to his brother’s efforts already and breakout of this damned shell he had wrapped around himself.
However, his feet couldn’t even moved. As if the barstool was hiding him in place, trapping him. As if the glass of wine was some treasure that would be tainted the moment it left his hand. It was a good thing he hadn’t drank it. He didn’t even feel the need to. Not after drawing himself in those expensive bottles of wines. A thing he vowed never to do again.
