The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 103: The Button II
Chapter 103
And now, every other wine tasted bland in his mouth. Every wine wasime water to him. Because he had have a taste of the genuine one. Or maybe his system was fed up with any intoxicants already.
She did this to him. No, he did it to himself.
He should breakout of every control she had on him. And free himself to enjoy all these. To make the best out of his time and enjoy this party.
Because his brother might continue throwing these parties until he was sure he was better. He didn’t want that. He wasn’t weak not to fend for himself. Not to hold the reigns over his own life. He wouldn’t admit he needed his brother’s help. That would only make him feel more miserable.
‘Miserable.’ A dark chuckle left his lips. The word tasted bitter even in his mouth. He wasn’t miserable, how could he even think that? He was only bringing himself back together and trying to regain his senses. Because he had been a fool and had allowed his thoughts to go haywire.
“Sir, care for some company?” Thea approached him with a glass of wine in hands.
Right. She had tagged along and followed him. Greg had almost forgotten about her. And where was the jacket she had been wearing a while ago?
Even though it was a tiny thing that couldn’t be called a jacket, at least it had put a lot of things out of view.
Greg frowned and looked away, focusing on the wine’s glass instead.
“The night is still young, Sir. How about we go back to your house and sign those documents instead? Sitting here alone without you joining in the fun is too boring.” She swayed forward until she was standing right in front of him without any breathing space.
Was she drunk? Greg wondered. Her movements seemed bolder tonight. She had surely gotten drunk. And he didn’t understand her definition of alone. From her sweaty face and appearance, he didn’t need to be told what she’d been doing before spotting him in a corner.
He curled his free hands into fists as he fought the urge to push her away. The thing he had always found himself doing in her presence.
Not only her, but several other women that threw themselves at him nowadays.
“What do you say, Sir?” Thea pressed on and she went ahead to hold his arm. “This party is so boring, right?” She whined in her drunk voice. “Isn’t it better to indulge in more exciting things.”
More exciting things. Greg let out a soft laugh. He knew what she was reffering to. And too bad, he had to turn her down again.
But before he could push her away, someone walked up to them at that moment, interrupting her movements.
“If you could please excuse us, Young lady.”
The guy pulled Thea away gentle and gave her a rueful smile.
“My buddy here and I need to have some talk,” he added.
Thea looked a bit disappointed before she gave the new guy a wide smile and she turned to Greg then winked, before staggering away with her wine glass raised high in the air.
“Damn, she’s so hot. You surely have a nice catch here?” The guy whistled as his eyes followed her back.
Greg rolled his eyes and continued playing with his wine glass. How unlucky that he hadn’t noticed that. He thought almost sarcastically. Maybe it was the reason why he had blindly hired her. And also because of her boldness. Who knew that same day, someone would barge again into his life and turn everything upsidedown?
“I’m surprised that you didn’t show up there, you know.” The guy took his face off Thea who had ended running into another’s guys hands. And he turned his attention to Greg.
“Rumors are flying, you know.” He went on. “Some of the guys are thinking you’ve fallen into some lady’s trap.”
It wasn’t far from the truth. Greg chuckled at his friend’s words. However, he’d be damned to admit it. At least not to the guys. He’d end up being the laughingstock. Which he already was, to himself.
“Talk about something else, Ed,” he said lazily and decided to finally have a taste of the wine. One sip. Bland. Water. And his face twisted.
“Right, I’m here for something important.” Ed dragged a stool close to his and sat down. He poured himself a glass of beer and said. “It’s about the island’s deal. Great thing you’re sober. Your brother’s already passed out there.” He glanced back at the living room and sighed.
Greg followed his gaze were his brother was on the couch with several girls pestering him. He hadn’t really passed out. Just about to. And he appeared somehow somber tonight. Another attempt to get the celebrity here had failed. Again.
Greg shook his head and turned his attention to Ed. At least, his brother was in his right mind and knew not to take things too serious. Despite running after the celebrity, he never deprived himself of fooling around with other girls. That only showed his level of self-control. He might be obsessed, but he didn’t let it get to his head. At least, not his heart.
“So, about the deal.” Ed’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “The island’s a great spot for vacation. I heard you’re interested in it. How about we build many resorts in it. Theres enough land for that?” He suggested.
Greg frowned and shook his head. “I plan to turn it into a personal resort. For vacations, something like that.”
Being stuck in the city always was sucking the oxygen out of him. He couldn’t even recall when he and his brother had thought of that idea. Having a private island far away from the hectic life of the city would do good in replenishing one’s energy now and then.
And Ed’s company dealt in land and properties. They must have mentioned something about finding an island to him. And it seemed like he had finally found one.
