The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 37: A New Look
Chapter 37
“I’m here with someone.” Jai wrapped his arm around Lucy and drew her close. “I want you to make her look different.”
The girls sighed in disappointment, and when they looked toward Lucy. They didn’t show disapproval— well, Lucy couldn’t put it as that. And she was convinced for a few seconds that they were staring at her in pity. But that was only a fleeting thought.
As if each was fighting to get to her first, one lady shoot forward and grabbed her hand.
“Follow me, Angel. Since I’m the oldest and my skin surpasses everyone else’s in this place. It is only right I take this honor,” She said proudly and started leading her toward a door, after giving Jai a look.
“I’ll be waiting outside.” Jai called out behind her back.
After getting inside the room, the lady made her sit on the only chair in that area. Various kind of makeup tools were arranged in front of the huge mirror. And they were the only ones inside the room.
“This place is for very important clients,” the lady said, while wrapping a large cloth around her. “Now, what kind of look would you like, Pretty?”
Lucy pondered for a few seconds for an answer. She didn’t care about any look. As long as no one would recognize her, she would aim for any kind of look.
“I want you to cut my hair,” she looked up and said.
“What?” The lady gasped and stared at her in horror. “Are you serious? Your hair?”
“Yeah.” Lucy nodded. She had once heard that cutting the hair also changed the appearance.
“W–Well, but.” The lady packed Lucy’s hair in her hands. “You have healthy and beautiful hair. I don’t even need to ask the kinds of products you’re using, because I can’t afford them. Are you sure you want to cut it all off?”
“Huh?” Lucy’s mouth opened. “No no, I didn’t mean for you to cut it all. Just change it in a way that’ll make me look all different,” she said quickly.
“Oh.” The lady’s expression relaxed. “Still, with this kind of hair. I don’t see why anyone would like to change it,” she said gloomily.
Lucy bit her lips, dreading what would come next. Hopefully, the lady wouldn’t ask her why she wanted to have it cut.
“Well, it’s your choice.” The lady shrugged and smiled at her through the mirror. “And I’ll make sure I don’t only change your appearance, but also make you prettier.”
Lucy sighed in releif and smiled back.
“So, are you going for a gorgeous look, or cute?” The lady asked. “Both can fit your appearance perfectly.”
Lucy didn’t know there was category of looks she could choose on. She tilted her head and looked once more at herself in the mirror. And she could recalled someone calling her gorgeous. “I want cute,” she finally said to the lady. Besides, she loved cute.
“That is settled then.” The lady clapped her hand. “I was also going to suggest that. If you go for gorgeous, I’m sure you’re going to cause a lot of traffic today. No offense, cute is also good. But it is safer for someone like you.”
Lucy giggled at the lady’s bubbleness. “You’re right.” She nodded as the lady picked up a scissors.
“Speaking of safe,” the lady said with a frown as she rubbed some cream on her hair. “How did you meet with Jai? Are you guys in a relationship?”
“Nope, we’re just friends.” Lucy shook her head while trying to turn on her phone. But the screen wouldn’t light up. Wait, did that guy do something to her phone?
“Oh, friends.” The lady nodded thoughtfully. “I’ve also thought of that. Because, well— that should be strange. I mean, come on. No one has ever sighted that guy with a real girlfriend.”
“Oh.” Lucy nodded absentmindedly while her attention was still fixed on her phone. But the guy didn’t even press on it, she was very sure. Did it run out of battery? Strange. But that should be the only reason.
“Because, he’s so mysterious you know. Who cares, he’s a nice guy. Always putting the ladies first.” The lady continued chatting on, some of her words did not even make sense to Lucy.
One time, she would be talking about Jai and how they met a long time ago. Next, she would be talking about kidnappers, celebrities, businessmen, and bandits. Then she would come back to speaking of Jai again.
She didn’t even know when the lady finished styling her hair, until she clapped her hands and exclaimed.
“Now, this is what I call a total transformation,” the artist laughed. “Believe me girl, you should be a celebrity, if you aren’t one already.”
Lucy lifted her head and her eyes widened at her own reflection. Was that even her? She didn’t look like herself? Well, she did– but in a completely different way.
With her hair cut to shoulder level and curled at the edges. And all painted blonde, with a streak of pink at the front, she looked exactly like a character out of a cartoon. Everyone that knew her would surely not recognize her at first glance. This was the perfect transmission she’d ever seen.
“I’m glad you liked it.” The lady studied her expression throught the mirror, and smiled.
Liked it? Lucy blinked. No way, she loved it. This was the perfect look. She had always wanted to paint her hair. Even though she didn’t really have a color in mind. Now, she had found her ideal color.
“For the final touch.” The lady circled around the chair to stand in front of Lucy. “Let’s give you a nice makeover. We shall make your eyes larger, and your lips fuller.”
She started decorating her face with various shades of pencils and pallets. The chatter continued, and she went on to tell her that Lucy had similar features to one of the guys she saw on TV. Was it a celebrity or CEO? She couldn’t seem to specify.
