The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 45: What Do You Say
Chapter 45
Lucy stared at him speechless, unable to react. Why did she even think of trusting him? He would surely put her in more trouble, there was no doubt to that. “I– I don’t want to go back there.”
“We have to,” Greg muttered simply. “Didn’t you say I’ve ruined everything.” He gave her a fleeting glance. “Now, it is time to make things right.”
Lucy gasped and she quickly shook her head. “No, you can’t take me back. You can’t go there with me. I’m begging you, please turn around.”
There was no way she would allow him to take her back. Going back to the mansion especially with him would only worsen matters. Was he even in his right mind? If he didn’t care about others life, at least he should consider himself. Who knew what her father would do if he saw him. Even though he wasn’t afraid if anything, still he was supposed to understand the enormity of the situation.
“Greg—” she tried pleading again but he cut her off.
“Don’t worry princess, nothing’s gonna happen,” he muttered with that nonchalant smile and even started humming a tune.
‘No, everything’s gonna happen!’ Lucy wanted to yell as her eyes darted fearfully between him and outside, they had almost entered the residential area. She was so afraid pleading with him further would still turn out furtile. It wouldn’t be of any use. And in that instant, she did the only first thing that came to her mind.
“Ahhhhh, what do you think you’re doing!?” Greg shouted wide-eyed as the girl had suddenly grabbed the steering wheel. The car spun around on the around, as she fought with him to turn it around.
“Lucy, are you out of your mind?” He shouted again, his heart thumping erratically. But the girl seemed to have possessed a new kind of strength that took him by surprise. She kept struggling with the steering wheel and the car kept making loud noises on the road, he could even see smoke rising from outsde. “You’re going to get us killed, stop it!”
“I’d rather die than go back there!” She shouted back and he stared at her speechlessly, she was truly out of her mind.
Afraid that an accident would really occur and she was going to destroy his precious car, Greg grabbed her by the waist as she was now almost on his laps. “It’s alright, stop it. We’re not going there anymore. I’ll turn around,” he muttered quickly while trying to catch his breath.
When she finally calm down, he breathed out a sigh of relief.
“You promise?” She turned to him and gave him that innocent look.
Greg spaced out for a few seconds and he quickly nodded. “Yes, I promise.”
Lucy got down from his laps and there was no sign of the dangerous girl from a few seconds ago. How could she switch personality so easily? Greg could not help but wonder. And what was with that innocent look? She was about to break down just moments ago. She was truly dangerous, he had really underismated her.
With shaky hands, he held the steering wheel and pulled over to the side, the turned a bend and got down on the road back to the city. His eyes would dart to her now and then. She had her hands folded and her lips were pursed in that childish manner.
If she was a danger zone in the past, then with this new disguise which had made her look a few years younger, she was now a living hazard. What was she even thinking to put it on in the first place? Was she that desperate to depart the City? Why would she let herself be affected by such trivial rumor to the extent that she was running away from her own family?
Since she said he was the one that ruined things for her, wasn’t she supposed to go back there and let them do whatever they please? Maybe by setting another engagement for her or throwing her into an arranged marriage, who cared?
“You’re taking me to the airport, right?” She asked after some time while trying to give him an intimidating look. But all he could see was an angry puppy.
“Right, the airport.” Greg chuckled. Did she think leaving the city would solve anything? She already looked miserable enough due to this minor incident, could she even survive in another city?
Then and there, a thought came to his mind. A thought he would never have thought of bringing up again. Something even he wasn’t sure it would turn out in his favor. But he wanted to give it a short, even though every of his senses was shouting danger.
“You can still consider my offer you know.” The words tumbled out of his mouth before he could think of anything else or change his mind.
“What offer?” Lucy stared at him with knitted brows.
Right, she had even forgotten. Greg chuckled. Why did he even bring it up.
But she didn’t seem to have forgotten, because after staring at him in confusion for a few seconds, her eyes bulged out and her lips parted.
“Th–That… about following you?” Lucy stammered.
“Yep.” Greg nodded his head and shrugged.
She appeared to be thinking for a few seconds, before she stared up at him through her lashes. The expression on her face had already told him what her answer was going to be.
Greg chuckled and shook his head. Why did he even bring it up? But then, there was something about her. Something he couldn’t wrap his head around no matter how hard he tried. She was both enticing and dangerous at the same time. Every fibre of his being told him she was a no go area, but he couldn’t control himself from tasting the forbidden fruit. This was a first. For as far as he could remember, he had always been in control. And not the other way round.
“So, what do you say, Princess?” He found himself saying again.
