The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 48: Roommates
Chapter 48
She might be diving into this headfirst without any credible consideration, but she had already given her words, and her mind was set on chasing her own happiness. What was the worst that could happen anyway?
Greg was someone that was only after fun. He wouldn’t take anything seriously. And the last thing she wanted was being bind to someone, if she couldn’t even find the power to reciprocate her feelings.
He was right. Even if her parents finally forgave her and are willing to take her back, the first thing they would probably do was set her up with someone else. Without even considering her thoughts or opinions.
The car pulled over at the parking lot, and she got out only to be blinded by the light of the sun.
Lucy lifted her hand to shield her eyes from the sun, when Greg reached her side.
He used his tall figure to shield her and wrapped his arm around her, while his other palm hovered above her head.
“I heard the the climate in City X is several degrees higher,” He said with a chuckle, as he led her to the doorway.
Right, City X. The thought had flee from her mind. At the last minute, she had also thought how absurd it would be to go there. Her cousin lived there with her boyfriend. If she suddenly barged into their lives unannounced, wouldn’t that make her an intruder? Besides, the couple could barely spend one month in a place. They were flying around all the time. Could she handle the loneliness?
When they entered the house, she followed behind him to the living room, and her eyes wandered around the place.
“Sit.” Greg gestured toward one of the couches, and Lucy lowered herself into it, while still admiring the place.
The last two times she had been here, she didn’t really had time to take in the house as she had been in a rush. But now, the place looked spotless, almost lifeless. As if no one lived in it. All the furnitures inside the living room were all new and untouched. It was obvious that he didn’t stay home often.
“First things first.” Greg started speaking as he sat on a couch opposite hers. “Your room is here, downstairs, among the guestrooms.”
“Huh?” Lucy lifted her head and blinked. “Why can’t I sleep in your room?”
Greg’s eyes seemed to have widened for a few seconds before he looked at her as if she had gone crazy.
“It is for your own good, Princess,” he muttered in a deep voice.
“Oh.” Lucy slowly nodded and sighed. That was absurd. What was the difference? Besides, she had slept in his room twice already, and nothing had happened to her. What could possibly harm her when he was here? Hopefully, he had servants, as the mere thought of only occupying this whole area at night had started giving her the creeps.
“And I don’t have servants, so you’ll be cooking for yourself when I’m not here. I always have something to eat when I’m outside.” Greg added.
Lucy looked up at him and gasped. “But I can’t cook,” she muttered rapidly. “I have never cooked anything before.”
“Really?” Greg gave her another look of shock and she lowered her head then nodded slowly.
“Why am I not even surprised?” He chuckled and shook his head. “Okay, you will have takeouts then,” he said, and she nodded.
“Another thing.” He added after sometime. “You see that thing there?” He pointed toward a switch just beside the plasma tv and Lucy followed his gaze. “Don’t go near it or touch it.”
“Why? What is that?” Lucy asked as her eyes were fixed on that red button.
“You don’t want to know.” Greg shook his head and laughed.
“Oh.” Lucy nodded head. She couldn’t help but give that button another look. It somehow looked exactly like the one he gave her. But this one was much bigger.
“One more thing.” His voice pulled her back to her senses. “I’m taking you shopping tonight, what do you think?”
“Huh?” Lucy opened her mouth. Right, shopping. Because at this moment, she only had one cloth. Was he willing to buy new ones for her. “Tonight? What about tomorrow?” She asked cautiously. She was already tired from all the chaos even her body was currently weak. She could really do with a long sleep at the moment.
“Whatever you say.” Greg shrugged and spread his arms on the couche’s headrest.
Lucy heaved a sigh of relief and turned her attention back to admire the surroundings. Was she going to live here from now? How long would it take?
“Lucy?” His voice pulled her out of her thoughtd and she gave him a questioning look.
Greg sat up straight and stared into her eyes. “Now that you’ll be living here, how would you label our relationship?”
Lucy tilted her head to the side and pondered for a few seconds. Right? He was now her— what should she even call it?— savior? And she would be living in his house. What would that make their relationship? “Roommates?” She looked up and sense.
Greg stared at her as if in shock, then he shook his head and chuckled. “Right, roommates.” He echoed her words.
“And from now on, you will follow whatever I say, right?” He added.
“Yeah.” Lucy nodded. “If you fulfill your promise.”
“Oh, I will.” Greg laughed. “Come here,” he said and patted the space beside him on the couch.
Lucy stood up and trudged forward to sit beside him.
Greg wrapped both arms around her and gave her a tight hug. “Always remind me that we’re only roommates, okay?”
“Okay,” Lucy replied in a soft tone and nodded slowly. “Greg.” She lifted her head to stare into his eyes. “Why don’t you just adopt me? As your sister? So you could treat me the way my brothers do.”
