Chapter 49: Her Whereabouts

“Lucy!?” Greg exclaimed in astonishment. “Th–That is insane—”

He seemed to have lost his tongue as he didn’t finish his words.

Lucy pulled back and pursed her lips.

Greg sighed and lifted his hand to stroke her hair. “That will never happen, Lucy… It is not even possible.”

“Oh.” Lucy nodded. That wasn’t a problem. As long as he could fulfill his promise, well– she was okay with anything.

“Now, let’s take care of something.” Greg pulled out his phone and dialled a number.

“Who do you want to call?” Lucy asked.

“Someone that’s about to turn over the whole city to find you,” Greg answered, and placed the phone on his left ear.

“Who?” Lucy frowned.

“Your friend. The celebrity. What do you even call her?”

“Gina?” Lucy’s eyes lit up and he nodded.

But when the phone was answered from the other end, it was someone else that picked it. The female voice did not sound like Gina at all.

“Hey, new girl. Tell George to tell his celebrity girlfriend that her best friend was found.” He gave the order and cut the call off.

Lucy stared at him with deap-seated brows. “Who did you call?” She asked.

Greg flung one arm on her shoulder and laughed. “My brother. Don’t worry, she’ll come here to see you.”

Gina dropped her phone and breathed out a huge sigh. She couldn’t even wrap her mind around the countless calls she had received this morning.

Everyone was asking her of her friends whereabouts. The moment she drop one call, another one would come in instantly.

Why would they pester her when they had been the one to turn their backs on the poor girl. And why the heck was that basterd back? What was he up to?

Now that they were also searching for her, she had to try her best to reach her first. But still, her phone wasn’t going through.

It was nightime already, where in this city could she be at this moment?

She flicked up the small droplet of tear that had suddenly trickled down her face while trying to maneuver through the heavy traffic.

She had searched everywhere. All the places she could think of. Every spot in the city that they used to frequent, she had already searched there. But there wasn’t any sight of her. Not at the bar, or at their favorite snack shop. She had mindlessly sent people to the amusement park. But she was not in any of those places.

Where else could she have gone? “Damnit.”

She pressed hard on the horn as she suddenly got stuck in the traffic. She tried to search her mind to think of any where else, but no familiar place could click into her memory. Besides, it wasn’t like they went to many places. It was only a handful of spots they knew in the city.

And also, compare to her friend, she had more freedom of movement. As everywhere she went to, the guards always followed her.

Her phone started ringing and she let out a groan at the site of the contact. It was her manager. The guy had been pestering her since morning. How could she go to work in this state for God’s sake?

Just when it stopped ringing, another call came in and she almost shouted.

This time her expression darkened when she saw the contact’s name and she almost threw her phone out at the traffic light.

Her phone kept on ringing from the same contact even after the traffic dispersed.

Gina rubbed her head in agitation then finally picked it up. “George or whatever you’re called! Tell me this is something worth my time!! Otherwise, I’ll hunt you down wherever you are and chop you and your stupid brother into pieces!!!” She yelled at the guy and she could hear him laughing at the other end.

‘Shit.!’ He had really done it. Gine started contemplating if she should drive straight to his place and do as she had said. How dare he call her at this moment? She was really going to chop him off, as she was feeling so murderous at the moment.

“Calm down, Gorgeous.” His smooth voice came after some seconds. “Don’t you think it will be unfair to send me to my grave early? Who could fulfill our little promise then?”

“To hell with your promise!” Gina snapped. “Shit! Why am I even listening to you.”

She wanted to cut the phone off, then he suddenly said, “But I know where your friend might be. Don’t you want to know?”

“What?” Gina couldn’t react for a few seconds. “Tell me you’re telling the truth,” she demanded hastily.

“Of course I am.” George chuckled from the other end. “Otherwise, why would I call you?”

“Let me guess.” Gina rolled her eyes. “To trick me into falling into another one of your mischievous plans? Or even better, ask me out on a date!?”

She was even a fool to not have think of that. How could he possibly know where are friend was?

Too bad, she wasn’t a small kid to be played by him.

“Oh, you’re right about that.” George chuckled. “I would really love for us to go on that date.”

‘I knew it.’ Gina groaned. She really had to cut the call, otherwise, she would explode with anger inside the car.

“But I’m serious.” His voice came again. And he sounded really serious. “I don’t know how my brother found her. I was just notified by my new hot assistant.” He emphasized the word ‘hot.’ And Gina rolled her eyes for the umpteenth time while anxiously waiting for him to finish his words. “She told me that he said she’s with him. You can go there and have a look.”

“Really?” Gina’s breath hitched and her eyes widened. “George, you better be sure you’re not pranking me right now. Is she really there!?”

“Yep.” His calm voice came from the other end. “So now, about our date—”

But Gina had already cut the call off before he could finish speaking.
