Chapter 50: Searching For Her

She turned the car around, with so much speed she almost crashed into another car. Then she took another route. The road that she had promised herself last time that she would only return to with guns and more knives. But now, she was going back there empty handed. Hopefully, he was telling the truth. If not—

“Tsk tsk tsk.” She shook her head in both anger and pity.

She would make sure those guys received the most slow and painful death ever heard in history.

She finally arrived at the residential area in no time. The silent neighborhood was so eery. Lights shone from the several lamp posts. And no human nor animal was in sight.

She parked her car in front of one of the two identical houses that faced each other. If George was telling the truth, both guys most be home by now. Should she go and get George first or just barge in on Greg and rustle him up if she found out his brother was lying?

That was certainly a great idea. If she got George’s attention and later found out it was a prank, she would end up being the one that lost. Both guys were too powerful for her. She had to admit that. It was better she took one at a time.

With that in mind, Gina brought out a fingnail clipper from her bag. The knife was small, but it was nonetheless, razor-sharp.

She adjusted her heels as her legs ached from sitting long in the car, then she walked out in large elegant strides, bracing herself for whatever those evil guys were up to.

When she halted in front of Greg’s house, she pushed the small metal fence open and sauntered to the front door.

Her fingers jabbed impatiently at the button of the doorbell, and it didn’t take long before it was opened from the inside.

“Well, what have we got here?” Greg came out and stared down at her with a lopsided grin. His eyes traced her up and down and he nodded his head. “The celebrity I see. To what do I owe this cordial visit?”

Gina glared at him and lifted her chin. “Where is Lucy?” She gritted out.

“Lucy?” The guy’s brows went up and he made an oh sound. “Oh, that…” He let his words linger and that mischievous grin returned to his face.

Gina knew instantly the he was trying to agitate her. Her hands fisted and she tried to push pass him and enter the house, but he was too strong, much to her chagrin. He didn’t budge even when she hit on his hard chest.

“Greg or whatever you’re called. Your stupid brother told me Lucy is here with you. You better bring her out now before I—”

“Before you do what?” He raised one brow and leaned lazily against the door.

Gina’s eyes turned red in anger and her hand wandered to the belt on her dress where she had hidden the clipper. In just a flicker of seconds, she yanked it out and pointed the small knife’s edge to him.

“I’ll poke your eye out and feed it to the birds,” she threatened in a low tone filled with rage.

Greg’s eyes widened for real and he stared at her in disbelief. “Are you crazy?” He held up both hands and paved way for her.

Gina pushed past him and stormed into the living room.

“Tsk tsk tsk, so much for a celebrity. I can only see a maniac.” She could hear him say behind her but ignored him as her eyes wandered around the empty place.

The heck. Was she really played?

“Greg!” She snapped her head to him. “Tell me this is a joke. Where did you keep my friend? Don’t let me repeat myself.”

She pointed the knife to him again and he chuckled. Gina really lost it this time. She screamed in rage and just as she was about to pounce on him, a very soft familiar voice which came out as almost a whisper, made her halt in her attack.

“Gina?” The voice Calle out again, a little louder this time.

Gina let out a gasp and her body twirled in the kitchen’s direction, she almost lost her footing.

She staggered and manged to grip the head of the sofa while her confused gaze was fixed on the little blonde girl that just appeared with large cup of milk in hand.

She blinked and blinked again. However, her confusion only lasted for a few seconds. As those large sparkly eyes staring back at her could only belong to one person.

“Lucy!” Her eyes teared up and he screamed then darted forward and wrapped her friend in a tight hug, almost spilling the milk.

“Where did you go? Where were you all this time? I searched everywhere for you. What happened to you?” She stared bombarding her with a lot of questions.

However, she could only hear her friend’s sniffs and felt hot tears on her back.

Gina’s tears were also falling and soon after, the room was filled with both girl’s loud sobs.

Greg who had been standing with both hands on his waist and watching them in amusement, let out a groan and rolled his eyes.

“Women,” he scoffed and starting walking up the stairs as if the mere sounds of their cries irritated him.

“Lucy, are you alright?” Gina drew back to look at the girl’s face while still sobbing. “I was so scared something bad happaned to you, Lucy. Where have you been?” She asked her earlier question again amids loud sobs.

Lucy sniffed and used on hand to wipe her tears while the other hand was still holding the milk. “I missed you so much, Gina,” she confessed, her heart tightening in grief.

Seeing Gina’s ghastly looks and the worry displaying in her disheveled appearance, guilt gripped Lucy’s heart at the thought that she even tried to leave the city. Gina must have searched for her for a very long time.
