Chapter 52: Be Careful

“What!?” Gina jerked up with dilated pupils. “Shit!” She shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions about the guys capability. She could see her friend’s life in danger already.

“What else did he do to you, Lucy?” She asked frantically, while checking the girl’s body. Then her eyes widened again at the sight of her clothes. Lucy was wearing a man’s shirt which extended to her knees. It wasn’t even a question who the cloth belonged to.

“Nothing…” Lucy shook her head and Gina breathed a huge sigh of relief.

“I also told him it was gross, so I don’t think he’ll kiss me anymore. Besides, he also gave me my own room,” she said innocently.

“No, Lucy.” Gina shook her head frantically. “I can’t let you stay here. You don’t know what that guy is capable of. Wait– I’ll find you an apartment– Yes, that’s a great idea. I’ll find an apartment and also run away from my parents’ place, so we coukd live together. What do you think?” Gina asked eagerly, lauding herseld inside for coming up with the suggestion.

Why hadn’t she thought of that earlier? Greg was a stark contrast of a saint. He was the devil himself. She couldn’t possibly let her friend live with him. Moreover, her own parents were almost always not in town, only her sister-in-law and her brother would know she left the house.

Lucy nimbled on her lower lip and fiddled with her hands. She tried to avoid Gina’s gaze as she softly said, “I don’t think your brother will like that, Gina. It can also affect your career as well. You’re a celebrity, you might get sighted by a lot of people. Besides…” She trailed off then sighed. “I like it here. Greg is treating me good. He’s the only person that promise to give me all I want.”

“Lucy?” Gina took the girl’s hands then she also sighed. “Okay, but you have to be careful. He won’t promise you anything and request nothing in return. Argh! Why are the guys in your life so complicated?”

Gina was once again afraid for whatever faith had in store for her friend. From playboys to scumbags who only wanted to use her, Lucy was never lucky to have a genuine guy ask her out. All they did see was her beauty. ‘Urgh.’ It made Gina cringed. But she was there. She was always there to protect her friend. And she wouldn’t allow anything bad happened to her. She would make sure to protect her, even from this cunning Greg. She never thought the guy would get so hung up in her friend. He even brought her to his house. Who knew his true intentions.

“Don’t worry, Gina. I’ll be careful,” Lucy reassured her.

Just then, footsteps came from the stairs and they both looked up.

Gina jerked up at the sight of the guy and she strode toward him. “Greg, I’m warning you. If anything happens to my friend, I’ll make sure I fulfill my promise,” she said in a hushed tone.

“Which of the promises?” Greg stared at her with a lazy smile. “Oh, I recall. The one you said you’re more interested in me and will flee to me any moment?”

“Shit! I didn’t even said that.” Gina gritted her teeth. “Look here, you can’t touch her or do whatever stupid things you do with girls. Lucy is out of boundary.”

Greg flashed his teeths at her and yawn. “I can’t promise you that, Angel. Do I look like a saint?” He waived off her threats and sauntered towards the couch where Lucy sat.

Gina was left glaring at his back that if he looks could kill, Greg would have dropped dead by now. And Oh, how she would really love that. Hopefully, Lucy would follow through with her words and keep the guy at arm’s length. Otherwise, Gina did not care that she might end up being in jail after murdering the guy.

Lucy had finished her milk and she looked up when Greg approached her. “It’s bedtime, Princess.” He took the glass from her hands and helped her up the couch. “Come, I’ll read you a very nice bedtime story.” Greg turned to Gina and added,“I also think our celebrity friend wouldn’t want to bump into her fans in the middle of the night, looking like a ghost. Don’t you think we should send her back?”

He had on that taunting smile Gina wanted to wipe it off so badly as her chest fumed with rage.

Lucy gasped, hearing his words and she nodded quickly then said in a worried tone, “Gina, I think it’s better you go now. Did you bring your car? Do you want Greg to give you a ride?”

“I’m sure she brought her car, Princess?” Greg chuckled.

“Now, it’s getting late. Who knows, it might take long reading that story. We better get started soon, right?”

“Oh.” Lucy nodded and turned once more to Gina. “Good night, Gina. Please be careful on the road. Don’t let any paparazzi sight you, okay?”

“Yes, have a good night.” Greg chuckled. “Cause me and your friend here are going to have one.”

They bid her goodnight, and Gina was left alone in the Living room, still fuming with rage and glaring at the guy. Only when she saw that he didn’t head upstairs but to another room adjacent to the living room, did her anger subside and she let out a sigh of relief.

She turned around and started walking to the door, her heart partly at ease and partly filled with worry. She was worried about whatever would happen next. That idiot, Cedric. Hopefully, he wouldn’t turn out as cunning as she thought. When she closed the door and left the house, something blocked her path. No, it was someone. And her forehead bumped into a hard chest.
