The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 54: Bad People
Chapter 54
She went and sit in front of the mirror, no more straining herself to get her hair tidy. The brush swept through her hair in such swift movements that she was done in no time.
This new hairdo what was she needed all along. But when she was still with her parents, she wondered if her Mum would even allow her to get one.
After making sure no hair was out of place, she left the room and followed the sudden familiar flavor that wafted through her nose.
The aroma led her to the dining area, where she met Greg sitting across the table and leisurely sipping a cup of coffee.
He wore a black tuxedo and looked so charismatic at that moment, Lucy was reminded he was also a CEO. But she couldn’t point out the difference whenever he switched to his mishievous mode.
“Morning, Princess.” He looked up at her and flashed her his signature smile.
Lucy greeted back and made way to sit on the chair to his left, while her eyes were only glued to the delicacies.
“You bought my favorite,” she muttered softly, with unhidden amusement. The snacks were surely from Trina’s treat, how did he get them this early morning. And they were still steaming hot.
“I don’t go back on my promise.” She could hear him chuckled.
Lucy started digging into her breakfast, the anxiety was long forgotten. When the flavory taste of sweet strawberry hit her taste buds, she moaned in satisfaction and closed her eyes to relish the moment.
Her eyes only opened when Greg cleared his throat and she found him staring at her in a daze.
“What?” She asked with a frown, as he looked as if he wanted to say something.
Greg let out a curse and looked away, then shook his head. “Nothing,” he replied and run a hand through his hair.
Lucy’s frown deepened. He looked relaxed just moments ago, but now it was as if something was bugging him.
“Did I do something wrong?” She couldn’t help but asked.
Greg shook his head again and the smile returned to his face. “You did nothing wrong, Princess. Your food will turn cold, eat,” he ordered gently.
“Oh.” Lucy nodded and she went back to eating her food. The crumbs got stuck on her lips and she used her tongue to lick them off.
“Urgh!”
Greg made another sound and she lifted her head again to find him staring at her.
“What is it, Greg?” She asked again. “Is something bordering you?”
But he didn’t give her an answer and only let out another curse. “I should probably let you eat in your room,” he muttered, almost to himself.
That would be great. Lucy nodded in agreement. “I love breakfast in bed. It’s more satisfying, after a tiring night,” she said with a sigh, thinking back to her nightmares.
“Lucy.” Greg gave her a look of disbelief. Okay, her words only seemed to agitate him further.
Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Why was he suddenly gloomy. Was he not a morning person.
Lucy shifted on her chair and began to feel uneasy. She was sure she hadn’t meant to agitate him.
He must have noticed sensed her gloom as let out another curse and his expression softened instantly.
“Eat your food, Princess. Now, don’t be sad,” he said in a gentle voice and the smile returned to his face.
He even lifted his hand to pat her head.
Lucy nodded obediently and continued eating her food, then she looked up after a while.
“Greg,” she called out and he looked up at her, urging her to go on. “About shopping for my clothes.” Lucy continued. “I have an idea, there’s somewhere I want to go.”
Greg’s brows furrowed and he dropped his cup. “I’ll have them delivered here for you.”
“No.” Lucy shook her head and pouted. “There’s this lady that I know. She has nice clothes.”
Although she wasn’t planning to take back her dress, even though the woman said it was too expensive, she liked the clothes in her shop, because they didn’t look too flamboyant and expensive.
“Where is that place?” Greg asked her.
Lucy told him it wasn’t far from his company, but that only made his frown deepened.
“Is that the area you came from yesterday?” He asked, his voice filled with confusion.
Lucy nodded an answer, which only made his expression changed.
“Did you spend the night there, Lucy?” He asked, now in a serious tone. And Lucy wondered why he looked so worked up. And how he even came up with that assumption.
She nodded again and he took her by surprise by letting out a curse.
“Who took you there?” He looked as if he wanted to punch something, or someone.
Lucy gulped and cowered. Did he change moods so constantly? Was Greg a psychopath? Was she in trouble?
“It was– It was.” She couldn’t control herself from stammering. “It was a taxi driver. H- He said that was the safest place to avoid the paparazzis.”
Her thoughts went back to the old driver’s words and she replied truthfully, still pondering if she should run or stay. He looked so scary right now, she wondered what was in his mind. She hadn’t provoked him, right?
Greg must have sensed her fears again as his expression relaxed once more. “Come here,” he muttered in a helpless voice, and Lucy found herself standing up to stand by his side, her heart hammering against her chest.
He all but dragged her onto his laps and she let out a gasp. “You can’t go to that place again, okay?” He said, his expression was relaxed again and his voice was also soft.
Lucy’s brows knitted and she lifted her head to look at him. “Why?” She inquired, slightly confused.
Greg sighed and wrapped one hand around her. “Because it is filled with bad people, who will only harm innocent girls like you.”
