Chapter 59: I’ll Do Anything

He was finding her expression and the way she batted her lashes somehow fascinating. Fascinating in a familiar way. He was very well familiar with and used to these kind of ladies. And he knew exactly where they belonged.

“I’m Thea, Sir…” She pressed her lips into a smile, that Greg wouldn’t call seductive, even though it obviously was what she was trying to potray.

“You’re new,” he said that as a face, because he could remember blindly signing up a new employee yesterday. Heavily drunk with work, he was ready to hire a thousand. But his assistant just wouldn’t let him be, still.

“Yes, Sir.” She seemed to develop a newfound confidence as her voice got slickier. She even inched closer and a strange fragrance hit his nose. Women with perfume. Greg couldn’t help but scrunched up his noise.

“You’re so popular, Sir.” Thea continued. “And I’m so lucky to get work here. I’ve always dreamt of working together with you…” She trailed off to lean in closer. “You know what… What you did at the engagement was a great act of bravery. You were so charming, every lady would be honored.”

“How are you sure that it was me?” Greg tilted his head. He wasn’t surprised that she knew what happened at the engagement. The whole city must have know by now. He didn’t care.

“Oh, my mistake.” Thea covered her mouth and put on a flabbergasted look. “Was it your brother? I never had the idea,” she slurred in that voice that sounded to his as he squeak. All Greg could hear was the sound of an anxious rat squealing for a cheese.

He shrugged his shoulders and replied, “It wasn’t my brother.”

“Oh.” She nodded, then her expression changed. Her eyes held so many questions. Greg didn’t care whatever they were.

He wouldn’t be here wasting time and speaking to a secretary if he wasn’t desperate. Desperate to get out of here before Mrs. Wood could sense something was off. He had made a promise to his little bunny back at home. Night was falling already.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something but he used a finger to shush her.

The hallway was empty. They were almost close to the conference room. And he didn’t know if he was the one that pushed her or she staggered back of her own whim. Her back was against the world and she stared wide eyed at him. Despite the heavy mud in the name of foundation on her face, Greg could notice her cheeks turning red.

“I want you to do something for me.” He quirked up one side of his lips, a smile marring his face.

“I’ll do… anything,” she breathed out, Greg could even hear her heartbeat.

Good. He had her just where he wanted.

“Go to the meeting room. Distract the clients. If Mrs. Woods asks for my whereabouts say you don’t know.” He enunciated each word to make sure she grabbed them. Because right now, she looked as if she had lost her mind.

Greg had that much effect on ladies. He very well knew it. Any kind of lady, but one.

“O–Oh, I will.” She quickly nodded even though the slight change in her expression gave her away. She was expecting something else. He knew what she had expected. But still she still had that mesmerized look.

He drew back and stood straight while she nodded again. And leaving her still against the wall, Greg turned around and made his way to the elevator. His personal private elevator was closed to his office. He couldn’t take it.

And he didn’t care whatever way she would use to take care of the matter. She might end up losing her job for all he cared. All he needed right now was the get back home before sunset.

Home… He never called it that.

When Greg arrived at the residential area and he entered his house, the first thing that met his eyes was the TV which was turned on. It was airing a cartoon program.

His eyes landed on the couch where she lay curled up, bundled up in one of his shirts again. He couldn’t help but wonder again if he should actually get her her own clothes. Not that he mind her sharing his. Another thing that never clicked his mind. He never shared a cloth even with his brother.

It almost sounded for him to him now. His own thought.

She was deeply asleep and a box of half-finished take out food sat on the glass table in front of the couch. Several packs of snacks were beside it, as well as a cup with half finished juice.

He could even see some scattered crumbs of snacks on the floor.

It seemed like from now on, he had to be calling the cleaning service more than usual.

“Princess…” He extended his hand to wake her, but halted. He took his time to examine her features while letting his hand dropped by his side.

She appeared peaceful, in her sleep. But her brows would furrow and he would frown now and then. She must be dreaming of something. And he found it strange. First she was sleeping at this time of the day and then dreaming even with the TV on. Absurd.

He turned off the TV and watched her for a few more seconds. When he left for the stairs to freshen up. He made sure to turn off his phone. Mrs. Wood must be turning the company upside down for all he cared.

He came down to the living room, to find Lucy sitting up on the couch with a big frown on her forehead while her eyes stared dazedly at the tv screen.

“Greg.” She wasn’t expecting to see him as she jumped up from the couch. “You turned it off,” she said as if realizing something.

Greg glanced at the tv and gave a curt nod. He sat beside her and chuckled. “You didn’t look pleased. Were you watching the tv in your sleep?”
