Chapter 61: I Don’t Think I Can Do That

And she went ahead to say, “I miss my brothers. I miss everyone back at home.”

“Oh.” Greg nodded as if he was interested, even though he wasn’t really interested. He wasn’t a fan of girly chats. Missing someone and mourning for people that are still alive was things only associated with girls, or so he believed. And he couldn’t help but wander if that was the source of her sadness.

“How about I take you somewhere, Princess?” A thought came to his head and he smirked. “Somewhere you will have fun. Somewhere you’ll forget your worries.”

“Where is that?” Lucy’s eyes lit up. And as if she had suddenly thought about something, her shoulders dropped and she shook her head. “I can’t go anywhere public. People will recognize me.”

Maybe she had guessed where he wanted to take her.

But Greg wouldn’t take no for an answer. He was determined to releif her of her gloom.

“Don’t worry about your appearance.” He chuckled. “All you need is a little more disguise.”

And by the way, her new hairdo had did the greater part of the disguise.

“Now, sit still,” he said and squatted in front of her. He picked one tool after the other and started decorating her face. For his extra degree in art and design wasn’t for nothing. He wasn’t close mind to only limit his skills to objects.

“But we’ll still go get my clothes, right?” She asked when he was in the process of painting her lips.

“We will,” Greg replied. “Don’t talk until I’m done.”

And he was done in no time. It was only a piece of cake.

Lucy stared at herself in front of the mirror. Her eyes expanded and her jaw dropped. If the artist did a great job, then Greg’s work was on another level.

He had the perfect skills and she was speechless. Instead of the cute look the makeup artist gave her, this new look could not really be termed as cute. It was as if she was looking back at the older version of herself. Her older self who looked more mature and gorgeous. Almost, serious.

“Amazing…” She let the words out without knowing and turned back to the guy whose gaze was fixed on her and a wide grin on his face.

“You like it?” Greg asked.

Lucy nodded eagerly and laughed. She bet even her parents wouldn’t recognize her like this. Oh.. her parents. In those few seconds, Lucy had almost forgotten her dilemma. But how could she let go of it when it had been eating her all day?

She contemplated without to tell Greg, that Cedric had returned. But wouldn’t that be a bad idea? Come to think of it, he had almost taken her back to her parents. She was sure she wouldn’t be able to stop him now if he wanted to return her after hearing Cedric was back. He had said he’d make things right. He didn’t say he’d go back on his words.

“Princess.” Greg lifted her chin, his brows now settled in to a frown, as if sensing her sadness. “You’re still giving off that sad vibe behind this disguise,” he continued. “I promise you’ll have fun. Lighten up, okay?”

Lucy gave him a nod and tried her best to smile. Still, she wondered where he was planning to take her. She didn’t care to ask him anymore. As long as she would be able to lift the anxiety off her shoulders.

“We better get going.” Greg stared down at his wristwatch. “Since we have to get your clothes, we wouldn’t want to pass up the chance of having as much fun as we want.”

He seemed to be in a hurry. Lucy didn’t know why. Besides, it wasn’t even dark already.

He held her up and they got out of the house toward his parking lot.

As they were driving out of the district, a familiar car suddenly zoomed past them and she gasped.

“Well, isn’t that your celebrity friend?” Greg chuckled.

Lucy had a hard time grabbing things. What was Gina doing here at this time? And when she dialled her number a while ago, it directly went to voicemail. The car was also leaving the area, so it was obvious that she hadn’t come to see her.

“I bet some people are having a lot more fun than we are,” Greg said again.

“Was she with your brother?” Lucy couldn’t help but asked. Gina had told her before the engagement that George had been pestering her. Well, it wasn’t that much of a pestering. But he had been bugging her, almost to the point that Gina was afraid it would affect her career.

And the worst thing was she couldn’t resist.

Although Lucy didn’t understand some of the words her friend had said as they all sounded weird, somes were even creapy, one thing she knew… Gina thought George would push her to her doom.

“A penny for your thoughts?” Greg glanced sideways at her, snapping her out of her train of thoughts.

Lucy faced him also, and shook her head.

“I’ve never known you to be this quiet.” Greg tilted his head and that frown was starting to appear. “How should I put it— so quiet. If something is bothering you, you can let it out you know,” he said it in a careless tone, the way he had always spoken.

And Lucy envied him. She envied that he didn’t seem to have a tiny bit of care about anything in this world. Everything was like a breeze to him. Life surely treated him easy. She was once like that. All light and carefree, before Cedric was brought to her life.

“Nothing, I’m fine.” Lucy smiled at him.

“Greg,” she called out after sometime. “Can you ask your brother to let go of Gina?”

Greg’s lips curled up into a grin then he shrugged, still in that careless manner. “I don’t know, Princess. I don’t think I can do that. Tell me–” he gave her his full attention. “Would you like to separate two people that are deeply in love?”
