Chapter 62: The Psychopath

“Huh?” Lucy stared at him confused. Gina had not told her she loved his brother. Even if she did, Gina didn’t seem to like it.

“It sounds like a bad idea.” She shook her head in reply. “But they say love hurts. I don’t want Gina to be hurt. So if she wants to be separated from him, I’ll gladly help her.”

Greg gave her a look of astonishment. He looked as if he was trying to digest her words. As if her words were the source of his shock.

“Love does not hurt, Princess,” Greg mused. “Whoever told you that does not know what love truly is. And I don’t think your friend would like you to do that.”

“Oh.” Lucy nodded in realization. She still couldn’t dispel his words that love didn’t hurt. All the guys that had claimed to love her in the past, she always found out later that they didn’t really meant it. Cedric had also claimed that he fell for her. Should that be counted as love. Yet, he still treated her bad.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise for her. If she didn’t love, she wouldn’t have the power to hurt someone.

“Greg.” She looked at his side profile as his eyes were now fixed on the road. “Have you ever been in love? How does it feel like?”

Greg pressed his lips together, as if trying to stifle a smile. He gave her a fleeting glance but in those two seconds, his eyes changed. Or was it her imagination.

“I’ve never taken any relationship serious.” His tone was relaxed and his eyes were back to normal. “So, technically, I’ve never been in love,” he confessed, his lips curling up. “But, I think I might be. Who knows, maybe I really am now.”

His words sounded strange and the light tone he used assured Lucy that he didn’t take it seriously. He might be jesting, as usual.

“I don’t like the idea of love,” she blurted out. Nomatter how tempting it sounded, she just didn’t think she would get lucky in that aspect. Other peoples that were in love seemed to live blissfully in it. But hers was a different case. Anyone that claimed to love her turned bad in the end. Who knows, that might be why she was deprived of those feelings.

Greg almost pressed the brakes and he looked at her as if he had seen a ghost. He cleared his throat and turned his attention back to the road.

“You don’t say such things, Princess. It makes me think you have something against men.”

Lucy folded her hands and pursed her lips. She didn’t have anything against men. Well, and he was still sming, he didn’t appear to take her seriously. Who knows, he might even make a jeet of her if she let him know of her problem.

She heaved a heavy sigh and melted against the seat, her thoughts wandering back again to the reality that awaited her. Cedric, he was back. The mere thought made her heart jumped into a jumble of all negative emotions.

They both remained silent and Greg turned up the music, he was singing a long. He even had a nice voice unlike her. He looked almost perfect, something she was very far from.

She let her eyelids close and when they arrived at the area, Greg turned off the music.

Lucy opened her eyes to find him staring ahead. His eyes were narrowed and he looked somehow tensed.

“Let’s go,” she broke the silence, however, he didn’t seem to hear her.

Her hand went for the door. She grabbed the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. The car was locked.

“Greg?” She called out in confusion.

They were now in front of the boutique. She hadn’t even given him direction, yet he knew the place. However, that seemed to be the only boutique in the area. It wasn’t even a question how he knew.

Even after calling out again, he didn’t appear to hear her. His grip tightened on the steering wheel and his knuckles turned white.

The atmosphere became almost suffocating. Lucy swallowed and she shifted on the seat. She was starting to get creeped out. Just like that morning. Had the psycopath Greg returned?

She knew she didn’t do anything to tick him off. Why was he acting like this?

“Stay in the car.” Almost instantly, he broke out of his trance and the hard shield which he had put on his face immediately came down. “Don’t try to come out, okay? I’ll get you everything you’ll need,” he said in a soft voice with a smile.

Lucy bobbed her head rapidly. She didn’t even think of arguing. Even though she wanted so much to go and see that lady and extend her appreciation. Greg looked so scary right now, he really creeped her out.

She waited in the car, thrown into confusion about how he could switch moods so swiftly. He had even made sure to lock the car after getting out and she had to watch his back through the glass window, as he made way inside the store.

Moments later, he came out. He didn’t even take that long. Or maybe she was so engrossed in her own thoughts, she didn’t know a hefty amount of minutes had passed

Greg was holding several bags. They were too many. And all of them contained clothes in it. She blinked with widened eyes.

Not because of how he carried them all as if they didn’t weigh anything, but because he seemed to have wipe out the whole store.

The sales lady even came out to wave at him, she was smiling from ear to ear. She looked very happy.

But the lady did not sight her, even though her gaze had darted to the car more than once. Only then did Lucy realized, the car glasses were tinted.

She sighed again and could only watch the lady’s happy smile. She couldn’t help but smile herself. That lady had helped her a lot. She was glad Greg made her happy.
