Chapter 63: A Stronger One

After dropping the bags in the car’s trunk, Greg waved back to the lady. His eyes wandered around the area, as if on guard about something. And when he entered inside the car, he breathed out something that sounded as a sigh of relief.

“It’s fun time,” he cheered then started the car. He all but sped out of the area, Lucy was afraid they were going to make a collision.

But he slowed down the car when they reached downtown. He even turned the music on again by setting it on low volume.

His usual self returned and he started chatting and throwing witty remarks. Lucy could only smile or giggle to his funny words. Because her mind was far again. Her mind was some else, filled with something else. Her mind was only occupied with the idea that she had to see her parents. That made her happy. But Cedric would be there. Which made her anxious at the same time.

Lucy didn’t realize Greg’s idea of fun was taking her to the bar, until they arrived at a very tall building in the city.

Inside, the bar boomed with loud music. The colorful lights were dimmed and the smell of beer as well as several puffs of smoke hung in the air.

Her eyes roamed the place and the last time she had come to a bar came back to her senses. It was so unreal, she couldn’t believe she was back again. She had been to several bars before before she got grounded at home. Even though those visits were all sneaky and she had to divert her private guards attention, she had gotten the most fun of her life.

Yet, right now, even though being here had brought back some of her lost spirit. Lucy still felt self-conscious. It was as if she was in danger of some sorts. She couldn’t pinpoint.

“Let’s grab you a drink,” Greg lowered his head and said in her ear. He pulled her toward the counter and Lucy found herself tagging along.

“What would you like to have?” He asked as he signalled to the bartender.

Lucy could now hear him clearly as the music was not loud in the area.

“Anything.” She replied and he didn’t ask her further as he continued chatting with the bartender. They seemed well acquainted with each other.

When there drinks came, Greg poured one for her and poured for himself.

Lucy didn’t waste a second before she grabbed the glass of wine and emptied it all in one gulp.

The liquid it her gut hard, it was chilled and hot at the same time. It wasn’t too bitter nor sweet, just the right taste to drive someone crazy. Her whole body shuddered as it simmered down her sister. And she was instantly crazy. She was crazy for more.

She dropped the glass with a bang, it almost broke. And she lifted her head to look at Greg who was sipping leisurely from his glass, and staring at her with keen interest.

Lucy urged him to pour her more, and he didn’t hesitate to grant her wish. Very soon, her glass was filled again, and she gulped it all down. More. She wanted more.

And as if he had read her thoughts, he kept on pouring for her.

After drowning her sorrows and completely aware she wasn’t in her right mind, Lucy felt lightheaded, almost as if she was floating on the cloud. Her heart was also light as feathers, her gloom and worry, a thing of the past. And her mind, all she could feel now was the unknown delight that simmered through her veins.

She wanted more, she had to grab more.

Lucy reached for the whole bottle, two bottles were already empty. And that was when Greg held her hand, before she could grab the bottle.

She protested in a whiny voice, then she giggled.

“More…” Her voice sounded almost like a child throwing a tantrum. Her eyes opened and closed and she pursed her and gave him an offended look, as if she was wronged. But that only added another layer to her cuteness.

She was back. The carefree girl he had encountered several months ago. She was finally back. No more restrictions. She had pulled down that barrier. He knew she was holding in so much. And what better way to let them all out than drowning her worries.

But as much as Greg would like her to continue, and as tempting as felt to watch her let go of those emotions, he knew she had had enough. Just for tonight. One more drink, she would lose it. She seemed already out of her mind.

So he raised the bottle up, out of her reach and he quickly used one hand to support her as she staggered toward him to take it.

“More… I want more, please please please,” she whined again, her large eyes blinking at him.

Greg knew he was going to lost it, even though he hasn’t drunk much and was perfectly in his right mind. But she was driving him crazy.

“No more beer for you, Princess.” He dropped the glass far out of her reach them used both palms to cup her cheeks. “How about I give you something better than a bear?”

Her eyes sparkled. That had piqued her interest and her hands came up to hold his. “What is it? Is it bigger bear. No, stronger one?” She slurred in her drunken voice and if not for his hands holding her head in place, they would definitely be swaying from side to side.

Greg laughed, find her question funny. But honestly, he didn’t have any idea of something that should be better than a beer. He had just said that to make her stop. And he had achieved his aim.

“Give me what is better than a beer. I want it, I want it.” Her voice got louder and expression got somber, even though she was giggling non-stop. “Give it to me, I want it.” She even held his collar and shook him frantically.
