The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 81: Staying With Another Man, huh?
Chapter 81
Her happiness? Lucy wiped her tears and pursed her lips. Her parents were only pushing her to her doom. She wasn’t happy, she would never be happy with Cedric. This arrangement was like digging a hold in the ground that led to one of the hells for her. They didn’t want to believe her. They thought she was just making up lies about her wanting to be with Greg. She was just making up lies in order to make them believe she truly did not like Cedric.
She didn’t like him in fact. She would never like him. Living with him will be like living in hell. She prefered she stayed with Greg. He wouldn’t toture her and there would be no strings attached. He would be a complete gentle man with no plan of making her do things she never wanted.
Greg-
She was going to live with Greg. Her parents did not believe her and as long as they were on Cedric’s side, they would never take her words seriously.
She couldn’t stay here. No, she wouldn’t. She had to go back to Greg. Even if her parents were willing to take her back, she couldn’t live with them at this moment. She’d rather go to Greg and stay far away from Cedric.
“We’ll leave you alone and discuss whatever you think is necessary.” Her father heaved a heavy sigh and pried her mother away from her. “Grace, let’s go.”
They started walking away, Lucy’s eyes followed them. She didn’t want to be left there alone with Cedric. She didn’t want to discuss anything with him.
“And, Lucy.” Her father halted and glanced back to give her a narrowed look. “No more of that nonsense. You’re engaged now, and whether you like it or not, Cedric is going to be your husband sooner or later.”
His tone was hard and as he scolded, his eyes went from her to Cedric. He wasn’t only disappointed in her now. There was a part of him that was also scolding Cedric. Cedric had taken part of the blame for her and her father was angry at him for not telling them he knew Greg had held her captive and she hadn’t been with him willingly. But that seemed like what Cedric wanted. Because his expression held some satisfaction as he stared at Lucy. He had lied anyways to achieve that. That lie was not going to do anything to put him in her parents’ bad books. Instead, they might now hold him with more respect.
Even though he had admitted it was his fault, he didn’t show any worry that she had outrightly rejected him in front of her parents. In fact, he was even keen on defending her.
She never wanted the engagement. She didn’t want to be married to Cedric. Not any time soon and not in the future. She was never going to live with him.
“Father.” She called out before her parents could continue walking away. Her lips trembled and she gripped her shaking hands on her bag. “I don’t have anything to discuss with him… I– I’m leaving. I’m going back to Greg,” she said with a heavy heart and swallowed another lump that had formed in her throat.
Her mother’s tears came flushing down again. She didn’t make any sound as if she was too weak to sob.
And her father— instead of the anger she had expected. He stared at her, as if he was exhausted with having this conversation with her. He gave her a tired look and held his chest.
Right! They still thought she was only pulling stunts again. They didn’t even looked surprised that she wanted to leave. As if they had seen it coming. They must think she was willing to do anything— even running back to Greg, her captive, just because she didn’t like the idea of marriage.
Their thoughts were right but their logic was completely wrong. She would do anything to run away from discussing this marriage, because it was a life threatening hazard to her. Cedric was going to destroy her if not physically, then mentally.
“Jonathan!”
Her father looked toward the large door which was widely opened and he called out to one of the securities. He must have been eavesdropping with the rest of the servants.
“Yes, Master.” The bulky guy appeared in no time.
In fact, he wasn’t just a simple security man, he was one of the men from the basement where the private guards trained.
And Lucy dreaded what would come next. A shiver ran down her spine and her head snapped to her father.
“See to it that Lucy goes to her room. Lock the door and guard it,” her father instructed the security. “Do not let her out until further instructions.” Then turned to Lucy and glared at her. “I won’t give you long to reflect. You better return to your senses soon, young lady. Otherwise, whatever happens next, you asked for it.” He took his eyes off her and stared at Cedric. “We aplogixe for our daughter’s behavior, Son. She is only a child trapped in an adult’s body. Come back next time and you shall have your talk.”
With that said, he turned around with her mother in his arms and they headed upstairs.
Lucy’s tears flushed like a broken dam and she blinked rapidly. Her eyes lingered on their back, stunned and devastated by her father’s words. When she turned her head to Cedric, his lips was crept into a small smile.
“You heard that, Princess.” He came forward and held her chin. “Come back to your senses and we shall discuss her marriage,” he whispered to her face and Lucy shoved her head to the side, grief building in her chest.
Cedric released her and chuckled. He lifted his hand to pat her head and he whispered,“Don’t think I’m a fool. We shall see how you’re going to go back there. And you better be untouched, because I won’t take it lightly with you. In fact, you just dug a hole for yourself. Staying with another man, huh?”
