Chapter 83: You’ll Have It Coming

Her hand went to her side for her bag. She had to call Gina and asked for her help. She had to get out of this place as soon as she could. She wouldn’t let Cedric come back and meet her here. There was no way she would discuss anything with him.

But her hand was met with an empty space and her eyes darted everywhere in the room. Where was her bag? She had to get her phone.

Her lips parted and she stood up and started searching around the room. There was no sign of a bag. She was sure she had come here with her bag. Even the living room—

Lucy halted in her search and her pupils expanded. She quickly went to the door and started banding on it. “Jonah, I know you’re there. Please you have to open it. My bag is downstairs. I have to take my bag!”

She yelled at the top of her voice hoping he would hear her out. She had left her bag downstairs while fighting out of his hold. And her phone was in it. She had to get her phone. She needed it. If she couldn’t reach Gina, she would call her brothers and tell them what was happening.

Unlike her parents, her brothers were going to believe her words. They wouldn’t let her parents do this to her. Hadn’t her big brother asked whether she was happy with Greg? They must have sensed something was off. And she had to make them believe that.

She wouldn’t let Cedric go to them first and weave his lies around them just like he had done to her parents. She had to let them know as soon as possible. Her brothers were her only hope. They might get into a fight with her father this time, she didn’t care anymore. All she wanted was to be freed from this misery.

“Jonah?” She called out to the security guy after hearing silence.

Was he not there? Why was he ignoring her?

She held the doorknob and started pulling it frantically. “Jonah, open the door. Or even better, bring me my bag. I promise I’m not going to go anywhere.”

A shuffling sound came from outside and she could hear voices.

The security guy was still standing there. She could hear his voice. But he wasn’t speaking to her, he was speaking to her father.

Her father was asking him what she wanted and the guy didn’t waste time to sell her out. Her father made a shocked sound and his next instruction—

“Bring me that bad! Now.” He barked out the others in a haste.

And Lucy bit her lips and pressed her ear to the door. Her father must have surely put things together. That man was too smart for his own good.

“Father, I just want my bag,” she mumbled against the door.

The security guy had left but she could still hear her father’s movement. He was standing there, probably waiting for her bag to come.

“Father—”

“You won’t have your bag, Lucy.” Her father’s voice came. “And don’t even think about bringing your brothers into this. Your childishness has gotten out of hands. You don’t know the riots you’re trying to cause in the family.”

His voice sounded helpless and Lucy bit at her lower lips.

Riots in the family. She knew what her father meant very well. The riots he was speaking of was building a wedge between him and her brothers. He was telling her indirectly that she had started doing that. And there was a warning tone to his voice.

And if she wasn’t mistaken, he was also reffering to Cedric. Cedric and his family. He thought was she was doing now would only bring more misunderstanding in the extended family.

He also knew she was trying to get her phone and call her brother. Was he going to seize it?

“Father.” She gripped the doorknob and pushed at it. “I want you to believe me. Cedric is lying to you. He doesn’t like me a bit.”

“You don’t know what you’re saying, Lucy.” Her father said in a tired voice. “You will reflect on your deeds and be good. Next time Cedric comes here, I don’t want you to utter such words.”

“Father—”

Lucy paused in her words as the securities voice came. He had come back with her bag and her father was giving him more instructions.

He was warning him not to allow her out no matter how many times she pleased. And the security guy wasted no time to reassured him that he would carry out his job well.

“Your mother’s health is not stable, Lucy.” Her father spoke to her after getting the security guy’s reply. “If anything happens to her because of your silliness, that will be the last pull. The whole family will point fingers at you and you’ll get what is coming for you.”

His tone was harsh even though he had said that in a soft tone. And after that, he left. No one gave her bag to her and there was definitely no sign of her phone.

Lucy slumped on the floor again and stared into space. Was this it? She wouldn’t even get to speak with her brothers or call anyone for help.

Her father’s warnings rang in her ears. He was going to blame her if anything happened to her mother. And the whole family was going to blame her. Her mother’s wish was the same as his. They wanted her to marry Cedric no matter what. And if she kept protesting, it would only break their heart. It would break her mother’s heart.

She supported her head with both hands to curb the throbbing feeling in it. How could she be this helpless? And Greg.

Would he look for her? Was her absence going to affect him? Of course not, she chuckled sadly.
