Chapter 85: He Knew What She Wanted

He had even been foolish enough to give her call. He had called her more than once. Hell, he couldn’t recall the many calls he had made.

But all went to voicemail. Her phone was switched off. She had even switched off her phone. Was it so he couldn’t reach her? So he would never again disturb her.

Well, he would be a fool to think of reaching out to her again. He’d be damned.

Wasn’t he supposed to be happy now that she had left him? She was a danger zone after all. As much as he didn’t want to startle her. He wasn’t confident his feelings weren’t going to be exposed someday.

He should be rejoicing that she had left him without any qualm. Without him being the one that ended up running from her.

He should be glad that he was finally going to get back his sanity?

And he was never going to go back on this promise again. He was never going to make a fool.of himself for the second time. How could she leave him for another man?

The office door creaked open and long heels stepped inside.

The girl gasped and covered her mouth at the sight in front of her, before she retained her expression quickly.

“Sir, Is something bothering you?” She gave him a baffled look and said in soft voice.

Greg shut his eyes and ignored her. Tina or whatever, he couldn’t care less to recall her name.

“I’ll get someone to clear the trash, Sir. I understand you’re having a bad day probably from workload, right?”

When Greg opened his eyes, she was already by his side and her strange perfume hit his nose.

“I’ve brought this from the secretaries area, Sir.” She extended a stack of documents and placed them on the desk. The documents which Greg had the urge to shove away at the moment.

When she bent, she took a long time, smoothening the non-existent creases on the hardcovers, and displaying a full view of her cleavage.

“Where is Mrs. Wood?” Greg asked with a frown. He’d rather have the cruel assistant’s company at this moment, so they could yell at each other and he would have a chance of letting out all of his pent up anger.

“Have you forgotten, Sir?” Thea batted her lashes and giggled. “Mrs. Wood and I had a little deal. She won’t return any time soon.”

Greg frowned again, and he leaned back against his chair and swivel around.

Right, how could he forget?

Whether it was a miracle or something, he had come to the office today to find Mrs. Wood gone. The girl had told him something about her having a talk with Mrs. Wood.

And he wondered what kind of talk it was.

He had expected to see her fire this morning, after making her stand for his absence yesterday. Well— that didn’t happen. And Mrs. Wood in fact didn’t show up at the office.

He should be rejoicing at this moment, despite not knowing what kind of cards this new employee had under her sleeves to get Mrs. Wood not to come to work. No employee could dare to do that.

And that amazed him. It was amusing that he had such an employee that could stand up to Mrs. Wood. Even he was afraid he wouldn’t, because Mrs. Wood had his mother as backbone.

But now, he didn’t feel the joy he was supposed to. Not when the rage kept building in him.

Right now, he would rather have the cruel assistant giving him a pile of work and forcing him to go through thousands of documents while yelling threats at him.

This way, he would be able to distract himself. At least from the raging emotions inside him. He could distract himself with work and nothing else.

Going out and spending the rest of the day at some nightclub or bar, as tempting as it sounded, was the furthest thing from his mind.

Hell! Since she badged into his life, he could at least spend two minutes with another woman without thinking of her. That was the effect she had on him. And now, he had became a prisoner to his own emotions. No more freedom to do what he’d once enjoyed. He couldn’t believe he was drifting away from his lifestyle slowly. Maybe he should hit that bar. Damnit! There was no way he was going to lose his freedom over some silly emotions.

The nightclub was a better idea. He would have a lot more fun there without lost of distractions. And only God knew where his brother was at this moment. Probably whirling the day off at some expensive place in the city with his hot assistant by his side and signing some damn documents.

“Would you mind sharing some of your worries, Sir?” Thea’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He lifted his head to find her still standing beside him..

No wonder the perfume kept hanging in the air.

Her eyes were feet on his chest and she didn’t care looking away even when he caught her looking.

“I have a feeling you might do with some comfort at this moment.” She went ahead to sit on the desk, facing him and exposing more than she had to.

Her clothes had already done enough to expose as much as any vulgar display of her curves would.

“I heard it’s a bad thing to sit alone and let anger eat at you.” Thea pouted and said in a sweet voice. “It will be better to have some company to help you chase away the exhaustion.”

Then she extended her hand and Greg watched her with keen eyes.

He didn’t need to be told of her intentions. He’d encountered countless of her types. Their boldness was the one quality he only appreciated.

They never ask for what they want or shy away from it, they instantly grabbed it at every chance they get.

And he knew what she wanted.
