The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 87: Had She Decided To Like Him
Chapter 87
Lucy came out of the bathroom, her eyes wandering around the room. With each minute that passed, her anxiety kept increasing.
Would she really not have a chance this time? Was she going to be bound to Cedric for real? He would in no doubt return tomorrow. Was this the end?
Her feet took her to the window and she stared up at the stars shinning above. What was happening out there? And— how was Greg?
Would he notice her absence? There was no doubt he would. But would he think about her and whatever she was going through at the moment?
Lucy breathed out a heavy sigh and walked away from the window. She had even foolishly thought, a while ago– no. She had hoped. She had hoped he would barge into the door and come looking for her.
But that was only her wishful thinking. Greg would want nothing to do with her anymore. He was probably out there, having fun and doing whatever he used to do to keep his mood high.
He’d got no problems now. She wasn’t there anymore to bother him.
And when Cedric returned tomorrow, her parents would surely push her into his arms. Her father had said she should reflect. And it was only a matter of time before they think her reflection was over and she’d comeback to her senses just as they expected.
She wasn’t out of her mind. She had nothing to reflect upon. How unfortunate that no matter what she said, they still weren’t going to believe.
They thought these were all part of her initial tantrums before the engagement. Her logic of not liking the idea of marriage.
She went to the mirror and sat down to brush her dampened hair. Maybe if she hadn’t met Greg in his company, she would surely be in city X right now. Cedric might be here and spent forever waiting for her, that wouldn’t make her return. She wouldn’t return if even her whole family kept bombarding her with phone calls.
The fact that she had been in the city and had witnessed another side of him at the bar was what prompted her to come here. She hadn’t been that optimistic about meeting her parents again expecially with the knowledge that he was back. But after witnessing his loathsome side at the bar, she had found some courage and even ran down here with a lot of enthusiasm.
Only for her bubble to be bursted and Cedric waiting for her with a well planned and ultimate attack.
After brushing her hair, Lucy’s eyes lingered on her reflection on the mirror. It was a good thing her parents didn’t scold her because of this new hair. Maybe because they were so busy with pushing her to Cedric and all their thoughts were only occupied by her marriage, they’d thought it a tiny thing to consider.
A soun came from the door and her head spun back to look in that direction.
Instantly, she sprang up to her feet and scurried toward the door. It clicked open from the outside and she could hear two voices.
Jonah was still standing outside and he was speaking with one of the maids.
And the moment the door opened, the maid hurried inside and the door was locked again. Lucy was not even lucky enough to have a glimpse of the outside.
“Young Miss.” The maid greeted as Lucy strolled back inside the room and sank down on the bed with slumped shoulders.
Lucy looked up at the girl and sighed.
“Ara, isn’t there a way I can get out of here? Can’t you help me convince Jonah?” She mumbled and fiddle with her fingers.
Ara shook her head, her expression sad and worry reflecting in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Young Miss.” She walked forward and sat beside Lucy on the bed. “You know Jonah is following Master’s orders. Even if we beg him all day and all night, he’s never going to let you go.”
Lucy gave a slow nod and supported her head with one hand.
Ara had came inside a while ago to bring her food. She’d thought even the maid could convince the security guy. But no. No one was willing to step on her father’s orders.
“Does it mean there’s really no way?” She lifted her head to stare at the maid.
Ara shook her head once more and took Lucy’s hands.
“Young Miss, why do you want to leave this much?” She asked in a sad voice. “Isn’t it better now that you’re back? I heard it is so dangerous out there. Can’t you try and convince Master again?”
That was not even a question. Lucy bit her lips and sniffed. She was done trying to convince her parents. They’d thought she was the liar and Cedric was the saint. Even if she exhausted every word inside her and lost her voice, it would be a miracle if they believed her in this moment.
“But, Young Miss.” Ara pressed on. “You’re back finally and Master and Madam have forgiven you. Why would you want to leave again? If you wait for a few more days—”
“You know I can’t.” Lucy stared at her wide-eyed. “I can’t marry him. If I stay here, it will only worsen matters.”
Before those few more days, Lucy was sure her parents would have given her out to Cedric by then. Whether she kept protesting or not. They wouldn’t want to waste time and follow Cedric’s wish of marrying her right away.
Ara went silent and she dropped her head. “I know you don’t like him. None of us does. But what if you marry him?” She murmured, her voice was barely a whisper and she looked up again.
Lucy’s lips parted, stunned and speechless. How could she marry Cedric? And why was Ara telling her this? Had she decided to like Cedric now? Had he gotten into her head just like he did to her parents?
