The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 99: What If He Tried Anything Crazy
Chapter 99
The fact that Cedric might find out about her plan had her all feeling jittery. If he found out, then it would be useless to think of asking for a divorce. He would in no doubt use that opportunity to torture her more and make her life hell. Asking for a divorce would even be out of the question at that time. And she might get stuck with him, forever.
Her body shuddered at that thought.
“I– I don’t want that.” She found herself voicing out her next thought. No. She didn’t even want to think about it. Being stuck with that monster forever? She might as well turn into a living dead. He’d suck her life out of her and she would only be left with her bare body to carry her around. That was horrible. She couldn’t imagine herself in that kind of situation. It was too horrible to think about.
“I know you don’t want that,” Ara nodded and gave her an affirmative look. “I also don’t want it to come to that.” She added and paused for some seconds. “But we can’t take any risk, Young Miss. If we don’t want that, we have to avoid anything that will lead to that.”
Lucy pried her hands away and put both palms on her forehead. The thought of having to live with him for eternity had started making her head to ache. And the headache that was brewing up wouldn’t let her think rationally.
She had to find a solution to this problem before things could get worse. And Ara’s next words were the only solution.
“Let Master know that you agree as soon as possible.” Ara went on. “Let him know after tonight. And tomorrow when Master Cedric comes, act as if everything is normal. If you do that, there will be no chance of him having any suspicion.”
Lucy swallowed and her hands gripped the comforter before she wrapped it around herself. After tonight? That meant early in the morning. Tomorrow. She had to speak to her parents tomorrow. And agree.
“I know you can do it, Young Miss.” Ara patted her on the shoulder. “Don’t think about anything else and only focus on your goal. I know it’s scary. But I’m confident we’ll be successful.”
Lucy nodded in agreement while she tried to relax inside. Those tremors had started rising rising in her nerves and she hated the feeling she was having at this moment.
The thought that Cedric had a chance of getting suspicious added more to her fears. But Ara was right. If they start very soon, the probability of him finding out would be too low. He wouldn’t suspect anything, and she’d be free in no time.
Tomorrow might be too close, but she had to agree. She needed to say it and do away with any risks of having anyone to find out.
She just had to focus on her goal and forget anything else. It was frightening to think of being with him. But nothing would happen as long as they stick together. Ara would help her evade Cedric and maybe all of her fears wouldn’t even play out in the end.
“I know you’ll be fine.” Ara gave her another pat on the shoulder and stood up. “After tomorrow, you’re not going to regret anything that comes later.”
Her voice was soft and she sounded so confident in herself, Lucy would be lying if she said she wasn’t convinced.
She was even convinced long ago. She had faith in Ara. The girl knew what she was doing. She wasn’t going to allow their plan to fail. She would make sure they succeeded in no time. All that was left was for her to say was yes.
After Ara bid her goodnight, she walked out of the room and carefully pulled the door close.
Lucy’s eyes lingered on the door, her vision turning blurry. And she quickly sniffed back her tears.
Tomorrow. Things would get started tomorrow. Cedric would come again tomorrow and she would tell him yes, she was ready to proceed with the wedding’s arrangement.
She’d follow his wish and do everything in a haste. They had to get married immediately, per his initial request. He’d take her to another city and Ara would be with her. And after that, they’d execute their plan and things would turn out well.
She would return here divorced and— unscathed?
She couldn’t come to a conclusion about that. And it still worried her much. Ara would help her evade Cedric. But how far could a maid go? Would she stay with her all day and all night? What if Cedric tried anything crazy?
Was there any chance that he wouldn’t make advances on her? Would he give her a different room of her own so she wouldn’t have to worry about him trying to touch her?
Her body shuddered again and her hands went up to wrap them around herself. She didn’t want to have any physical contact with him. It was too scary to even think about.
How was she sure he wouldn’t try that? What if— what if—
Lucy lost senses of her thoughts and she shook her head rapidly. She had to be optimistic and only focus on the plan, and her goal.
She shouldn’t let anything bother her. She had to remain positive and shouldn’t think of any impending danger.
Even though she was frantic and anxious at the moment. The worse could happen and Cedric might try forcing himself on her. He didn’t look like the kind that would exercise patience. He had said she was irresistible, she wasn’t a child not to understand the meaning behind those words.
She couldn’t conclude that the first thing he would do if they got married was—
She shuddered and shook the thoughts off. She has to inform Ara of that problem and see if she could come up with a solution to that. She had already given her words and said she would tell her parents yes, tomorrow.
