The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 28: Take A Part-time Job As A Paparazzi
Chapter 30
“Ahhh! Ethan, y–you.” Eve yelped. His hands wandered into her dress and she quickly pulled away, pushing at his chest.
“Argh! What is wrong with you, Ethan? I worked so hard on this makeup.” Eve stared at her reflection in her phone’s camera. Her lipstick was gone.
She pursed her lips and opened the pouch. Luckily, a lipstick rolled out and she picked it up and applied it on her lips.
“Apart from making me feel like the ugliest person alive, you also planned to ruin my makeup. Ethan, are you a psycho?”
Ethan brought out his phone and operated it silently, acting as if nothing had happened. And Eve sighed and stared out of the window.
The large billboards lit up now and then. Skyscrapers glowed with lights. And the night sky shone with stars.
They soon arrived at the heart of the city, and the Limo stopped in front of an enormous hotel. Eve’s eyes brightened up and they snapped to Ethan.
“Don’t go out yet,” Ethan said in a warning tone as if sensing her excitement. “Wait for my cue.”
Eve nodded obediently. And she soon found out the reason behind his instruction, because immediately he left the car, he turned around and held out his hand.
Eve shifted to his side and took his hands. On stepping out of the car, bright lights flashed in her eyes and the shutter sounds of cameras exploded in her ears.
A red carpet.
Eve’s breath caught in her throat. She’d never walked on a red carpet before.
“Just relax and smile.” Ethan gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “And don’t answer any silly questions.”
Eve recovered from her shock and chuckled. “Who told you I’m nervous? The only thing that scares this Young Lady is death.”
And she’d been through it once. It wasn’t a nice experience.
“Goodness gracious! It is Mr. Anderson.”
“And he’s with a beautiful lady.”
The paparazzi went into a frenzy and each of them fought to come forward.
“Mr. Anderson, may we know who this gorgeous lady is?”
“You have appeared with some ladies in the past, but I must say you’ve finally found a perfect match, Mr. Anderson.”
“It is as if you are divine beings that suddenly decided to grace this earth. Mr. Anderson’s looks is second to no one else’s, and I’ve never seen such a beautiful lady.”
“Ethan,” Eve whispered in Ethan’s ear. “Maybe you should take a part-time job as a paparazzi. You can learn some great vocabulary.”
Ignoring Ethan’s cold look, Se brought her attention to the paparazzi and smiled widely, waving her hand. “Thank you all for the compliments. Actually, I’m Mr. Anderson’s wife.”
“His wife!?”
A hush fell into the place, and in the next second, the paparazzi went crazy.
“Mr. Anderson’s wife. This is unbelievable.”
“Mr. Anderson, finally, after several months, you have shown your wife to the public.”
“No one expected Mr. Anderson’s wife to be this lovely.”
“Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson has kept you hidden for a very long time. May we know the reason why?”
“Sure.” Eve smiled softly. “You see, in the last few months, Mr. Anderson and I have been very busy.”
“Eve, be quiet,” Ethan said in a low tone.
“What were you busy with?”
“Was there something going on between Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Anderson in those few months?”
The paparazzi’s eyes shone with curiosity.
“That’s right.” Eve maintained her sweet smile. “Other couples spend one to three months on their honeymoon, but my husband and I didn’t consider that to be enough. And while he went to work daily, actually, our honeymoon hadn’t ended.”
“Ah! This is a revelation.”
“Mrs. Anderson, you indeed worked hard. Also, no one can match up to Mr. Anderson’s charisma.”
“You have been working very hard, Mr. Anderson. Mrs. Anderson, should we look forward to great news soon?”
“Definitely.” Eve ducked her head and caressed her stomach.
The paparazzi went into another frenzy and they looked so ready to ask more questions, but a loud voice came from Eve’s back.
“Make way for this Young Master. Sister-in-law, do you intend to snatch my spotlight? Out of my way right now. Big Bro, please take your wife away.”
The attention of the paparazzi switched to the boastful guy and Eve’s lips twitched at the sides while Ethan pulled her away.
“You really handled the paparazzi well, huh?” Ethan said as they made their way into the hotel.
“I’ve worked as an MC for five years in the province. Cameras and noises don’t scare me. Are you impressed?”
Ethan glanced at her without saying anything.
“I know you’re impressed, Ethan.” Eve tugged at his arm, giving him a taunting look. “Just say it. Tell me you’re impressed.”
After handing out their invitation, they arrived in a grand hall.
People mingled around. All men, both old and young, were dressed in business suits, while the women, ladies, and girls were dressed in flashy ball gowns.
Laughter and noises rippled the atmosphere, and waiters walked around with trays of champagne glasses on their slightly raised palms.
“Your grandfather is here.” Ethan pointed to a wide table and Eve’s eyes followed his hand.
Her grandfather sat with Ethan’s grandfather across the table, as well as her parents and siblings.
Eve’s eyes lingered on her Mum whose back was to her and she sighed inside.
“Let’s go.” Ethan pulled at her arm. But before they could take a step forward, a swarm of people surrounded them instantly.
Most of them turned out to be Ethan’s business partners. And after exchanging quick pleasantries, Eve and Ethan squeezed out of the crowd and headed to the table.
“Give up already, Old Man. You can’t beat me even if we play a thousand rounds.”
“If you think I’ll back out because of your boastful intimidation, you’re in for a big challenge, Old Man.”
