Chapter 52: The Ambitious Employees Club

“Ouch! It’s okay, Elena. Leave it like that.” Eve squeezed her eyes shut, nudging the Stewardess’s hand away.

“Are you sure you’re well enough to go out?” Elena stopped rubbing ointment on her waist. “Madam, you must be careful. Why don’t you stay away from the Young Master for a little while.”

“But I have to go to the company.” Eve pushed her blouse down and tucked it into her trousers. “Besides, this is my first day as a member of the AEC. I can’t appear lazy.”

“You hadn’t recovered well when the Young Master repeats it. What if something happens again–”

“Ethan wasn’t as hard on me as he was the last time.” Eve wore her shoes then stood up. “See, I can even walk properly.”

Elena sighed and nodded. “Whoever that Mr. Hudson is, he is definitely up to no good. You have to avoid him at all costs, Madam. He’s the kind of man that only likes to go after married women. Don’t let yourself fall victim to him, understand?”

“I get it, Elena.” Eve gritted her teeth. “If he ever comes near me again, I promise I won’t hold back.”

Ethan was already a handful. If this stupid stranger wanted to ruin things for her, she’d better be prepared with weapons and armor.

“I’ll be off now, Elena.”

“Please be careful around the Young Master.”

‘Urgh.’ Ethan. She didn’t even want to be near him soon. She’d rather roam around in the company or do something as worse as learning how to drive. As long as she could avoid him all day.

“By the way, you mentioned something about membership. What’s an AEC?” Elena stopped her at the door.

“Oh.” Eve retrieved the card from her bag and smiled. “It’s called the Ambitious Employees Club. It’s a new organization I joined. That’s where the serious employees in Ethan’s company hang out.”

“Okay.” Elena scratched her head, nodding with a frown. “Just be careful, Madam. Don’t cause any trouble, and remember, you must be cautious around the Young Master.”

“I will, Elena. Take care.” Eve gave her a quick hug before turning around and rushing for the stairs.

When she came out of the house, the sun was already up in the sky.

She took one of Ethan’s cars and asked the security to drive her straight to her driving lessons.

“Mrs. Anderson, it’s you again!” Her instructor looked flabbergasted.

“Who else did you expect to see?” Eve narrowed her eyes and dropped both hands on her waist. “Tell me, Jonah. Were you happy that I stopped coming?”

“N–No, Mrs. Anderson, absolutely not.” Jonah scratched the back of his neck and laughed. “In my many years as an instructor, I’ve never come across such an intelligent student. Why would I be happy that you stopped coming?”

“Stop trying to insult me.” Eve pursed her lips as the guy led her to a car. “When it comes to learning how to drive, I know I’m the dumbest student that ever exists.”

“Good thing you know, Mrs. Anderson.” Jonah grinned and held the car’s door open. “No, you will sit in the passenger seat today. You’ll watch me while I drive,” he said as Eve was about to enter the driver’s seat.

“Urgh. What’s the fun in that?” Eve rolled her eyes. “How can I learn by just watching? I’ve watched thousands of people drive and nothing happened.”

“That’s because you weren’t paying attention to their driving skills, Mrs. Anderson.” Jonah sat on the driver’s seat while Eve walked to the other side and sat down.

“Don’t think you can order me around, Jonah. I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t want so much to kill time.”

“That means you would be doing me an honor, Mrs. Anderson.”

“You.” Eve glared at him.

He started the car and she patiently watch him rotate the steering wheel. ‘Urgh. So boring.’

“Don’t only look at my hands, Mrs. Anderson. Also keep your eyes on my feet.”

Eve’s eyes strayed to his feet. She couldn’t see anything. In the end, she got bored and brought out her phone to play candy crush.

“Mrs. Anderson, you’re not paying attention.”

“Just give me the damn wheels, Jonah.”

“No can do.” Jonah shook his head. “It cost me billions to buy this car. I would have used a cheaper car to teach you with, but you’re the great Mrs. Anderson. Even so, I won’t let you part me from this baby.”

Eve rolled her eyes and looked out of the window. The sun was now very high in the sky. In a few hours, it would turn orange and slide down.

“Stop– Stop the car, Jonah.” Eve glanced at her wristwatch and said, “Our driving lesson has ended for the day. Now take me to Ethan’s company.”

“But I get to decide when the lesson will end, Mrs. Anderson.”

“I know Ethan bought this car for you to teach me driving. Do you want me to snatch it?”

“Absolutely not! Come on, Mrs. Anderson.” Jonah chuckled. “I’ll take you anywhere you want, you just have to mention it.”

The car arrived at Ethan’s company after several minutes, and Eve bid the instructor goodbye.

She brought her phone as well as the card out of her handbag and copied the number on the card then dialed it.

“Who am I speaking with?” A young male voice came from the other end.

“I am the new member of the AEC. Where is the meeting holding?”

“You are the new member?” The voice sounded confused. “What is your name?”

“Mira.”

“Just Mira?”

“Yeah. Just Mira.”

“Oh, Mira.” The voice lightened up. “Mr. Clinton and Mr. Alan mentioned you. But you’re a bit late as the lunch break is almost over. Come to the cafe at the back of the company, the meeting is held there.”

Eve nodded a reply and hung up. The cafe at the back of the company. The skyscraper was huge, did she have to round it?

If the cafe was on the other street, wouldn’t the lunch break be over before she got there?

Her eyes darted around the street, and suddenly from a distance, a flashy black car was heading in her direction toward the company.

That was Ethan’s car.
