Chapter 55: Keep On Dreaming

Her head pounded in rhythm with the rapid beating of her heart. Eve’s eyelids weighed like mountains as she struggled to open her eyes. A ray of bright light pierced her vision and she groaned out loud, shutting her eyes again.

“Urgh. Who asked you to open the window, Ethan!” Eve mumbled and she held her forehead and turned her back to the window.

Her head was still pounding as if it would explode. And her hands reached forward to touch the man. “Argh! What the hell did you do to me, Ethan? Why can’t it stop?”

“Good morning, Beauty?”

“Huh?”

A strange voice reached Eve’s ears and her hand halted. This time, she forced her eyes open and her gaze fell on the man lying next to her with his hand propped up.

“Ahhhhh!” Eve let out a loud scream and scrambled up. “W–Who, W–What are you– Why am I here!?” She asked frantically and pulled the sheet off her body.

“Is that how you greet your soulmate good morning, Sweetheart?” The man smiled and sat up on the bed.

“Ahhhhh!” Eve screamed again and covered her eyes. The idiot was bare-chested. “M– Mr. Hudson, w–what did you do to me?” Eve made a quick survey of her body. Her dress was intact. Thank goodness.

“What does it seem like?” Wade’s smile widened and he shifted forward. “Isn’t it obvious, Eve?”

Damnit! How did she get here?

Eve wanted to cry as everything slowly returned to her. Last night, she went to a bar, and then… and then…

“M–Mr. Hudson, please tell me you didn’t do anything crazy.” Eve jumped off the bed and grabbed the bedside lamp. “I told you to stop stalking me! Why did you bring me here? And why did you–”

“Come on, Eve. Stop acting as if we’re strangers.”

Eve lunged at him with the lamp and hit his head. “Tell me you didn’t freaking touch me, Mr. Hudson! Just tell me you didn’t.” She strangled his neck and shook him hard.

But the stupid man still kept a smile on his face even as she screamed and yelled.

“What if I told you something happened between us? What else will you do apart from surrendering to me, Eve?”

Damnit! Eve threw the lamp aside and punched him several times in the face. “If anything happened, I might as well kill you before I kill myself. You’re so disgusting, Mr. Hudson.”

“Whoah Whoah, Feisty girl.” Wade grabbed both her hands, and suddenly, Eve couldn’t move. “Although I like this side of you, let’s reserve it for other activities.”

“You–”

“Nothing happened between us.” He gave her a serious look. “I found you at a bar last night, and I didn’t have the heart to leave my only love alone. If I didn’t help you, tell me who would, Eve.”

“I don’t trust you.” Eve glared at him.

“Eve.” Wade sat properly, still holding her in place. “Remember I told you I’ll be patient. I won’t force you, I’ll wait until you bring yourself to me.”

“That will never happen!” Eve wriggled her hands free and slapped him across the face. “You are a pervert, Mr. Hudson. Even if you’re the only man left on this earth, I’ll never give you a second glance.”

“Ouch!” Wade held his chest and put on a pained look. “We can’t be sure about that. Our hearts and souls are one. You’ll soon find yourself running to me before you even realize it.”

“That will never happen. You might as well keep on dreaming.” Eve jumped off the bed and located her shoes and bag in a corner.

She threw the bedside lamp at him and grabbed her things before fleeing the room. His laughter echoed in the house, as her eyes wandered around to locate any entrance.

Eve found the stairs after running for a while in the long hallway. She hurried down, her heart pounding harder with each second.

Downstairs, she located a large door ahead. Servants in their uniforms stared at her in shock. But Eve didn’t heed them any attention as she shot for the door.

The place was almost as big as the Villa, and Eve ran toward the gates. The security tried to stop her, but she pushed him aside and left.

The area was unfamiliar and there were not many cars passing by. She walked down the large empty street for a while, before finally locating a taxi.

Eve entered the taxi and shuffled through her bag to bring out a face mask. She wore it before smoothening the creases on her dress, her heart still pounding, and sweat dripping from her forehead.

“Hurry up, please, Mister.” She urged the taxi driver on.

“If I drive any faster, the police will come after us,” the taxi driver replied and ignored her.

Eve patted her chest and brought out her phone to check the time. Missed call notifications popped up on the screen as well as many messages. And they were all from one person…

Ethan.

Eve patted her chest again to control her heartbeat. The time read ten in the morning. Ethan must have gone to work. That should free her from some of his wrath.

‘Argh.’ That Mr. Hudson or whatever he was called… She wasn’t going to let him go scot-free. If she didn’t get back at him—

“We have arrived, Ma’am.” The taxi driver’s words halted Eve in her thoughts.

She checked the time again, it was almost eleven. That was so fast.

“Ma’am, are you going out or not?” As Eve hesitated, the taxi driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror and asked.

Eve cleared her throat and adjusted the mask on her face. She pushed a hand into her bag and brought out some cash.

After paying the taxi driver, she hesitated before leaving the car, then knocked at the Villa’s gate.

“Who are you, Miss? Are you looking for someone?” The security man asked, and Eve sighed then took off her mask.

“M–Madam.” The man’s eyes widened and he quickly let her in.

Eve walked into the Villa, taking a step back after two steps forward. She finally reached the large doors and pushed them open.

Elena and the maids were nowhere in sight.

Eve sighed inside and headed to the stairs. On reaching upstairs, she held the doorknob and pushed the bedroom door open, then strong hands grabbed her arms and pinned her against the wall.

“Ahhhhh!”
