The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 57: Her Former Room
Chapter 59
Eve averted her gaze and proceeded down the stairs. She walked past the living room, heading for the dining area, and Elena appeared from the kitchen direction with a tray of food.
“It is not yet time for dinner, but the sun has long set. I knew you would be hungry, Madam. That’s why I prepared this.” Elena settled the tray on the table as Eve lowered herself to a chair.
“Madam.” Elena cleared her throat and lowered her voice. “Now that the Young Master has gotten his answers, you can see that he’s no longer angry. I hope you’re not still mad at him.”
“You forgot my orange juice, Elena.” Eve picked up the spoon. The food was steaming hot. Her stomach was still grumbling. However, the urge to eat was far from her mind.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, Madam. I’ll bring it right away.” Elena walked away and disappeared in the kitchen direction.
Eve let out a sigh and forced some of the food down her throat. And footsteps came from behind her, then they stopped beside her.
Ethan sat on the head chair beside her, tapping his fingers on the table.
“Young Master.” Elena returned with the orange juice. “It’s not yet dinner time. Are you also hungry? Should I get you some food?”
“No,” Ethan replied.
Eve could feel his gaze on her as she took the orange juice from Elena.
“Excuse me please, Madam, Young Master. If you need anything, please call my attention,” Elena said and left, while Eve sipped on her orange juice.
“Eve.” Ethan’s voice reached her ears.
Eve forced the remaining food down her throat then she emptied the juice glass before wiping her mouth and standing up.
She headed upstairs and walked into the Stewardess on the way. “Elena, can you please help me clean up my room?”
“Which room are you talking about.” Elena looked confused.
Eve held onto the railing and replied, “My former room.”
“Your former room?” Elena’s eyes flashed with worry. “I make sure the girls clean it often. It is very clean, Madam.”
Eve nodded and walked away, but Elena’s voice stopped her.
“Madam, are you still mad at the Young Master?” Elena walked close to her and said.
Eve opened her mouth but footsteps approached then a figure stood behind her. “Please help me get my phone and also some of my clothes,” she said to Elena and continued walking up the stairs.
After getting to her former room, Eve sat on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Elena came in moments later with her phone and some clothes.
“Please drop them in the closet,” she instructed after taking her phone from the Stewardess’s hands.
Elena returned and sat beside her then sighed. “The Young Master has gone too far, Madam. Why don’t you have the bigger heart and let things go?”
“Why do I always have to be the one with the bigger heart?” Eve lay on the bed and tapped into her phone. The screen popped up with an alert message.
“The Young Master can be irrational when he’s angry. But Madam—”
“I don’t want to talk about him, Elena.” Eve picked up a pillow and lay her head on it. “I’d like to get some sleep.”
More worry reflected in the Stewardess’s eyes and she stood up and bid her goodnight.
Eve tossed her phone aside and waited for some minutes before standing up and walking to the door.
She locked the door then turned the doorknob to make sure it was well bolted before she returned to the bed and buried herself under the sheets.
The next morning, she woke up to the sound of her phone beeping nonstop. Her hands wandered to her sides and she grabbed the phone then brought it to her eyes. More alert messages.
Eve rubbed her eyes and dropped the phone. She shifted on the bed and leaned against the headboard, staring at the bathroom door.
Her phone rang seconds later and she glanced sideways. Ethan’s name popped up on the screen.
Eve shuffled out of the bed and walked into the bathroom. She took her time to wash herself thoroughly then came out and sat in front of the vanity mirror.
“Madam, the breakfast is ready.” Soft knocks came from the door accompanied by a maid’s voice. “Madam.”
“I’ve heard you, Camila. I’ll come down soon.”
Eve arranged her hair into a loose bun then she slid a hairpin into it to hold it in place. She applied light makeup then walked into the closet to find something to wear.
After checking herself out in the Closet’s mirror, she put on her shoes and carried one of her handbags, then she took her phone from the bed and head out of the bedroom.
She walked downstairs and sighed in relief at the sight of the empty dining table.
The maids brought her breakfast and she finished it up then left the house.
“Eve.”
As Eve walked to the parking lot, Ethan’s voice halted her. And she looked to her left to find him walking in her direction with a golf club in hand.
“Where are you going? Today’s the weekend.” Ethan stood in front of her.
Eve gripped the straps of her bag. She looked sideways before replying, “I want to visit Grandpa.”
“Do you want me to come?” Ethan asked.
Eve sighted the driver chatting with the security man. She walked towards them and asked him to drive her.
The driver did not hesitate. He got the car ready and Eve went inside and pressed a button to slide up the windows.
“Eve.”
Ethan knocked on the window and Eve rested her back against the car seat then let her eyelids close as the car drove out of the Villa.
Her phone beeped inside her bag and she brought it out to see more alert messages, then his call came in.
Eve pursed her lips and pressed the switch button. She dropped the phone into her bag and let her eyes close again until the car arrived at the mansion.
She came down from the car and made her way into the house, answering the servants’ greetings. Apart from the servants, no one else was in sight.
Eve headed upstairs toward her grandfather’s bedroom and she could hear voices from inside. On reaching the door, she pushed it open and her lips parted at the sight of her grandfather connected to an IV.
