The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 70: Cancel The Contract
Chapter 72
Eve woke up the next morning and her hand wandered to the empty space beside her. ‘Urgh! Ethan.’ wasn’t he supposed to stay in bed until she woke up first?
He’d even ditched work yesterday to spend the whole day with her. Wouldn’t he at least extend the sweetness?
Eve left the bed and entered the bathroom. She came out later then got dressed and headed downstairs.
“Madam, good morning.” The Stewardess met her on the way and greeted with a wide smile.
“Good morning, Elena,” Eve mumbled. “By the way, where’s Ethan?”
“The Young Master went upstairs after eating his breakfast. I’ve not seen him come down since then.”
“Ethan ate his breakfast without me?” Eve’s hand gripped the railing.
“I’ve kept yours aside, Madam. It is still warm.”
“Urgh.” Eve turned around and walked up the stairs. She headed to his study room and pushed the doors open.
Ethan was sitting across his work desk, deeply engrossed in whatever document he was reading.
“Ethan, Argh!” Eve grabbed her hair and stomped forward. “What the hell are you doing?”
“The contract.” Ethan pulled her onto his lap and showed her the document. “Do you want to add more rules?”
“Huh?” Eve stared at the contract document.
“I’ll strictly abide by them, Eve. Add whatever you want.”
“Whatever I want?” Eve’s eyes left the document and she stared at him, smiling. “You said it yourself, Ethan.”
“Yeah. Add whatever you want,” Ethan said seriously.
“Awwn, aren’t you so sweet?” Eve took the document from his hand and dropped it on the desk. She retrieved her phone from her pants pocket and then kissed him hard while taking a snapshot of them.
“Eve.” Ethan took the phone and stared at the photos. “What did you snap them for?”
“You won’t understand, Honey.” Eve took the phone from him, laughing softly. “It’s a gesture of love. This way, even if we’re not together, I can always remember our intimate moments.”
“Weird.” Ethan narrowed his eyes.
“It’s not weird, Sweetheart. It’s love.” Eve kissed him again then drop the phone into her pocket. “And this contract.” She picked the document up. “We are a legal couple, and we love each other. Don’t you think a contract between us is useless?”
“You’re right,” Ethan nodded.
“So you see.” Eve tore the document in two. “We no longer need this. As long as you keep your word and promise to not let anyone come between us and also take care of me forever, we’ll be alright.”
“And you’ll never ask for a divorce, Eve.”
“Never.” Eve shook her head.
Ethan pinned her on the desk and she let out a gasp. Then her stomach grumbled.
“You haven’t eaten?” He asked, and Eve nodded, sitting up properly. She got down from the desk and he also stood up.
“You’re leaving for the company without me?” They left the study room and walked in the hallway.
“You will go to your driving lesson first. Jonah told me you haven’t learned anything yet, is that true?”
“Urgh, that Jonah.” Eve rolled her eyes. “Don’t mind him, Ethan. I’ll ace that driving in no time, I promise.”
“Or I could get you your personal driver, Eve.” Ethan stopped walking as they neared the large door.
“That won’t do, Honey. We’ve already concluded that I’ll learn how to drive.” Eve kissed him on the cheek and bid him goodbye.
After watching his car drive out of the Villa, she turned around and skipped into the house, heading for the dining area.
“I am very happy, Madam.” Elena brought her food. “I can see that things are now settled between you and the Young Master.”
“Me too, Elena.” Eve chuckled. “Ethan is just a hopeless romantic. Can you believe that man loves me?”
“Really, Madam?” Elena sat beside her.
“Really.” Eve laughed. “You should see the look on his face when my Grandpa wanted to separate us.”
Even in her past life, Ethan had never been himself again after they divorced. Now, she knew that he’d always had eyes for her from the time he saw her again when she was brought here to the city.
“That is very good, Madam. I always had a feeling that the Young Master feels something for you, that is why he indulges you all the time. As long as his temper can be kept in check, I don’t think you’ll encounter any more problems.”
“Exactly.” Eve nodded. “From now on, I’ll never let Ethan be mad at me again.”
“That’s so thoughtful of you.”
“Where’s my orange juice, Elena.” Eve finished up her food and looked up.
“Oh, forgive me, Madam. I’ll get it for you now.” Elena stood up and disappeared in the kitchen’s direction.
Eve’s stomach grumbled again and she caressed it. Elena returned with the orange juice moments later and placed it in front of her.
“Here is your orange juice, Madam–”
A fowl stench hit Eve’s nose and she patted her chest rapidly. “Elena, what is this?” She pointed at the yellow liquid.
“It’s your orange juice, Madam. Do you want me to bring more?”
“Ah! Take it away from me!” The fowl stench increased and an uncomfortable feeling built up in her stomach.
“Madam, are you alright—”
Eve shot to her feet and rushed upstairs, patting her chest. She entered the bedroom then barged into the bathroom and emptied all the content in her stomach in the sink.
“Madam.” Elena came inside as she limped out of the bathroom. “What is wrong? Are you alright?”
“Ah, Elena. I think I’m sick.” Eve patted her chest. She felt so lightheaded and her stomach felt empty.
“Th–This is bad, Madam. Let me call the Young Master. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
“Forget it.” Eve waved one hand and carried her bag. “I only feel light, it’s nothing to fret about. I’ll just go to the hospital if anything weird happens again.”
“Please do that, Madam.” Elena sighed. “I’ll go to the kitchen and get you something to eat.”
“No, don’t do that.” Eve walked out of the room, waving her goodbye. Besides, she didn’t feel like eating again.
She left the house and asked the security to drive her to her driving lesson. When she arrived, she took off her face mask and grabbed Jonah by his collar.
“You are tired of your job, Jonah. How dare you tell Ethan that I haven’t learned anything yet? What did I ask you to tell him whenever he asks about my improvement?”
“Mrs. Anderson, please take it easy.” Jonah held out both hands in a surrendering gesture. “Mr. Anderson is a well-respected man, I dared not lie to him.”
“Urgh! You’re so despicable.” Eve pushed him away and he smoothened up his shirt.
“Hehe, don’t be mad, Mrs. Anderson.” Jonah scratched his head. “It is my fault for not teaching you well. From now on, I’ll teach you everything you must know about driving.”
“Argh! Don’t butter me up.”
“But you’re my best student, Mrs. Anderson. Who else should I butter up apart from you?”
“You–”
Eve didn’t get to finish her words because the strange sensation built up in her chest again.
She gagged and covered her mouth, then located the nearest washroom and threw up.
Maybe she should go back home.
She wiped her face with water and staggered out of the washroom. Suddenly, a tall figure blocked her path and her heart skipped a beat.
“You–”
“We meet again, Eve.” He stepped forward and grabbed her then covered her nose with a hankie, and slowly, Eve felt her body becoming light before she lost consciousness.
