The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 72: Accelerate The Process
Chapter 74
His regret. His regret was ending her? Eve blinked, her lips parted but no words came out.
Her eyes lingered on his face, on the serious look in his eyes. How– how was that possible? Wade claimed he ended her. In her past life, she didn’t know who was her killer… Did that mean…?
“Eve.” Wade touched her hand and she flinched and shifted back. Her heart pounded wilder than before, she could even hear her own heartbeat.
“M–Mr, Hudson,” Eve stammered. “What you just said now…”
“I am sure you heard me right.” Wade sighed heavily. “I regret what I did to you, Eve. I shouldn’t have made you part of the mission. I should have planned something for you instead, just like I’m doing now.”
Plan something for her? As in love her?
“P–Please stay away from me, Mr. Hudson. I– I…” Eve trailed off. She was completely speechless. She’d never imagined that she would meet her killer this way. And why had she never seen him before in her past life?
“How can I stay away from you?” Wade’s serious look transformed into a smile. “We can no longer stay away from each other. From now on, we’ll be together, forever.”
“No.” Eve shook her head, her eyes widening. She jumped from the bed and planted her feet on the floor. “Let me out of this place this instant, Mr. Hudson. Before I do something you’re going to regret.”
As confused as she was. As much as she wanted more answers from this crazy man, Eve knew that she couldn’t waste a second here any longer.
She’d never seen this man before in her past life, and now he claimed that he killed her. This twist was too hard to handle. It was giving her a headache.
“I told you you’re not going anywhere.” Wade also stood up. “You belong to me now, Eve. The heavens gave me this second chance in order for us to be together.”
“Are you out of your mind or what!?” Eve balled her fists. “I said I don’t like you! I’m not interested in you, Mr. Hudson.”
“Come on, Eve.” Wade held her hands and Eve wriggled them free then pushed him on the bed. She used that opportunity to jump on him and strangle his neck.
“Damnit! Let me go, you murderer. I told you I’m not interested in whatever nonsense you’re spouting.”
Wade gave her a helpless look. The smile on his face didn’t fade. In fact, he grinned and shook his head.
“I told you to reserve this feisty side of yours for other activities. You’re just making things difficult for both of us.”
“Shut up!” Eve slapped him across the face. “You know I’m a married woman, Mr. Hudson. Don’t you fear what my husband might do to you when he knows that you’ve kidnapped me?”
“I don’t care what he’ll do.” Wade grabbed her hands and turned her over. “And I’d love it very much if he can see us right now. I told you I’m going to treat you better, why won’t you concede already?”
“Over my dead body!” Eve kicked his stomach and he staggered back. She sprang up from the bed and rushed for the door, but Wade came after her.
“I told you you’re not going to leave here.” He gripped her hands to the point that Eve couldn’t struggle. “You shall remain here with me, Eve. You’ll be more than happy to be with me.”
“Argh! Leave me alone.” Eve jerked up her knee to kick him in the groin, but the idiot was too fast to dodge her attack.
“Now now now, you wouldn’t wanna do that.” Wade shook his head, smiling. “Relax, Eve. You’re going to hurt yourself.”
“No! Let me go!” Eve screamed. “Mr. Hudson, I promised you I won’t tell the police, and I’ll stand by my words. All you have to do is disappear back to the asylum you came from. Leave me alone and get out of my sight!”
Wade lifted her up and dropped her on the bed. “You promised me not to do anything crazy. Now you’re being difficult.” He grabbed the ropes from where he’d kept them and Eve kicked and flailed her arms as he tried to bind her with the ropes.
“Don’t you dare, Mr. Hudson. If you bind me again, I’m never going to have mercy on you!”
“Well, you just have to promise one more time that you’ll abide by whatever I say.” Wade towered over her and said. “I dislike doing this to you, Eve. But you’re being uncooperative.”
Eve glared at him, her chest heaving up and down as she took in rapid breaths. She’d really underestimated this man. Why was he so keen on keeping her with him?
“Don’t tie me.”
“Then promise me you’ll be obedient.”
Eve took in another deep breath and closed her eyes. Her stomach grumbled and her throat ached from screaming too loud.
“Okay.” She opened her eyes and nodded. “I’ll be obedient.”
“That’s more like it.” Wade smiled and threw the ropes aside. He sat on the bed and touched her feet, and Eve cowered away. “Believe me, Eve. I’ll make your life better.”
“And how are you going to do that, Mr. Hudson? Did you hear me complain that I’m not happy?”
“I’ll give you everything your husband can only dream of,” he said softly and Eve’s brows furrowed.
“Mr. Hudson.” She cleared her throat. “Are you richer than my husband?”
“Not a bit.” Wade shook his head. “But I’ll soon be. Very soon, I’ll rule this city, Eve. With you by my side, of course.” He grinned.
Eve gave him an apprehensive look and shifted away. “Are you serious about keeping me here with you forever, Mr. Hudson?”
“Sure, I’ll keep you forever.” Wade chuckled. “And don’t even think about escaping, Eve. As I’ve told you before, I’ve tightened the security around this house. No one can come in or go out.”
Eve sighed inside and looked away from the man. Her eyes wandered to every corner of the room and a frown formed on her face. “W–Where is my bag?” She brought her eyes to him and asked.
“I didn’t carry your bag along. We wouldn’t want anyone tracking us, right?”
Eve ran both hands through her hair and shut her eyes. Damnit! This idiot. Her phone was inside her bag. And if Ethan found her missing, the first thing he would do was track her phone.
“Y–You’re really a genius.” She looked up and forced a smile.
“Thank you for the compliment.” Wade gave her a slight bow, laughing, and Eve’s lips twitched at the corners.
She let out a soft sigh, her eyes wandering around the room again. Seeing it properly now, it was a bit different from the room he’d brought her before. “Th–This room.”
“This is our room, Eve.” Wade held her gaze. “From now on, we’ll share this room and live here together.”
Eve fought the urge to roll her eyes and she forced him a smile. “This is a nice room, Mr. Hudson.”
“I know, right?” Wade leaned forward. “And now that we’re alone, why don’t we do something exciting.”
“W–What is that?” Eve shifted away as he closed in on her.
“Since you’re so desperate to get pregnant, and your husband seems to be incompetent, why don’t we accelerate the process?”
“Ahhhhh!” Eve covered herself and screamed as he yanked the dress off her shoulder.
