Chapter 81: Another Woman

Argh! Damnit! That man almost gave her a heart attack. What was with that angry tone?

Eve left the bedroom the next morning and walked down the stairs. She even had a nightmare that she’d given birth to one baby and Ethan was chasing her with a knife.

She patted her chest again then sat on a chair and her eyes surveyed the food.

“Good morning, Madam. I hope you slept well.” Elena appeared from the kitchen direction and placed more food on the table.

“Yes, thank you, Elena.” Eve picked at her food. “I hope you also slept well.”

“I did, Madam.” The Stewardess smiled then turned around to head back to the kitchen, but Eve stopped her.

“Urm, Elena.” She shifted on the chair and faced her. “I’m so sorry for yelling at you last night. My tongue lost control and I…”

“Oh, please don’t apologize.” Elena shook her head, her eyes widening. “You didn’t do anything wrong, Madam. It was my fault for intruding too much.”

Eve lifted her head and stared at the woman. She sighed inside then looked down. “Please don’t mind me, Elena. And you can continue treating me as before. I promise you I’ll never yell again.”

“Eve.” Elena sat beside her and placed her hand on her knees. “I’m not mad at you, I’m serious. Compared to before, you are treating me and the maids very better. You said those words without intending to do so, everyone can make mistakes.”

“You’re really not mad?” Eve gave her a hopeful look.

“I can’t stay mad at you, Eve. You’re as troublesome as my daughter, but you both have a good heart.”

Eve laughed then hugged the woman before pulling away. “I’d like to meet that daughter of yours someday. Since we have the same personality, we might even share some resemblance.”

“Although my daughter is very fair, she’s not up to your height, Madam. But you both have the same oval face shape. So maybe you do look alike a bit.”

“That’s awesome.”

“My daughter doesn’t live here. She lives in another city with her husband. She might visit me soon, who knows? And you two shall get to meet.”

“I can’t wait.” Eve grinned. “In the meantime before she comes, Elena. Why don’t you treat me the same way you treat her?”

“Madam…”

“From now on, I don’t want to hear the word ‘Madam.’ please call me Eve, Elena. I feel guilty when you address me that way.”

She didn’t even know how she got used to these titles. Back in the province, everyone called her by her name.

“Alright, Eve. Now finish up your food before it turns completely cold. If you want more, let me know, okay?”

Eve nodded and Elena stood up and left. She forced the food down and throat while fighting the urge to vomit.

After eating up and drinking her pineapple juice, she stood up and was about to head up the stairs.

“Madam.” One of the maids walked in. “The driver asked if you would go anywhere today. He has an emergency family issue.”

“Tell him I won’t. I’ll spend the whole day resting at home.”

“Sure, Madam.” The maid walked out and Eve continued walking upstairs.

She entered the bedroom and picked up her phone as well as her bag. Then she headed out to the study room and turned on Ethan’s computer then continued from where she stopped last night.

Moments later, her phone rang and she answered it.

“Mira, I called to ask about that assignment. You’re not facing any difficulty, I hope.”

“No, Amanda. In fact, I’m working on it right now.” Eve replied while swiping at the mouse.

“Oh, that’s great!” Amanda exclaimed. “Can you send me a screenshot, Mira? Let me look at your progress?”

“Huh? A screenshot?” Eve frowned. “D–Don’t you trust me, Amanda?”

“It’s not like that.” She could hear the lady laughing. “I trust you a hundred percent, Mira. But since you said you’re working on it right now, you can’t deny me a screenshot, right?”

Eve removed the phone from her ear then snapped the computer’s screen and forwarded it. “I’ve sent it to your phone, please check it,” she said to the phone.

“Oh, I’ve seen it,” Amanda replied after some seconds. “Keep up the good work, Mira. You’re making us proud.”

“That is my job, Amanda. Please be rest assured, I’m working hard to ensure we all succeed. If I make any mistake, it can also affect me.”

“You’re smart.”

Eve bid her goodbye then hung up and continued typing. After some hours, a soft knock came from the door and someone walked inside.

“Madam.”

Eve gasped and looked away from the computer screen. On seeing the maid, she patted her chest and sighed in relief. “Camila, do you need anything?”

“I came to inform you that lunch is ready. The Stewardess asked me to get you down immediately.”

“Oh–Okay.” Eve nodded. She saved the document and closed it, then she pressed a button to switch off the computer. But her finger hit another button.

“Tell Elena that I’ll be down in a few minutes,” Eve said distractedly, her eyes fixed on the new window that just popped up.

After the maid left, she tapped on a folder and many more folders appeared. They all contained photos. Why would Ethan keep this many photos on his computer?

Eve scrolled through them one after the other. A folder was reserved for the photos taken during business collaborations and everything else related to business.

She also found another folder that had all their wedding photos in it. Eve took a long time going through the photos. She wasn’t in many of them. Just Ethan and his friends then his business partners. And the ones that she was in…

Eve shuddered. She looked horrible. Her forced smiles made her ugly. And in some of them, she was secretly glaring at Ethan, the groom. Mia was also present in some.

Eve rolled her eyes and deleted those photos that had Mia in them. Unlike hers, Mia’s smile was more natural. The girl was too good at pretending.

She left that folder alone. Now, it was Ethan’s photo with his family. And this was the first time she saw his parents.

Although his mum was very beautiful, a hundred percent of his looks was from his father. She scrolled through another folder again. Ethan looked younger in those photos.

There were a group of people of similar age. They all seemed to be at a beach.

One particular photo caught Eve’s eyes and she rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t seeing wrong.

In that photo was Ethan in only breeches with his hands wrapped around a lady’s waist. The Young Lady’s arms were wrapped around his neck, and they shared a tender gaze.

“Argh! Ethan!?” Eve’s heart burned and she slapped the desk.
