The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 96: More Sensitive Than A Pregnant Lady
Chapter 98
Eve made sure all the things they would need were set in place three days later. After bidding their families goodbye, they set off to the island in Ethan’s private jet and arrived the next morning.
“This house is very huge, Madam,” Camila said as they toured the mansion.
“I can’t believe we’re going to live here until you put to bed.”
“Won’t you miss the city life?” Eve’s eyes wandered around the large living room. It was even more luxurious than the one back at the Villa.
“Not at all, Madam. Compared to the noises and buzz of the city, this place can be considered a paradise.”
“Mmm. I also like it.” Eve nodded and caressed her bump. “And I think my babies like it also.”
They didn’t kick a lot today, unlike recently when they’d been nothing but active.
“This is a generous gift from their great-grandfather. Of course, they’d like it, Madam.” One of the maids looked at her stomach and smiled.
“Where is Elena, by the way?” Eve’s brows furrowed as she asked.
“She must be in the kitchen. I think your gynecologist is getting along well with her. They’ve been chatting since morning.”
“That’s great. You girls should go help her out.”
As the maids walked away, Eve turned around and walked up the winding stairs. The hallway was flooded with light from the large window between the walls.
It was almost evening, and the tall coconut trees ahead were bathed in the orange sunlight.
Eve turned sideways and entered their bedroom. She headed to the balcony where Ethan sat with his working computer, and she walked past him and placed both hands on the railing, staring ahead at the vast island.
“You like it here?” Ethan stood behind her moments later, snaking his arms around her.
“I love it,” Eve whispered. “What about you?”
“I love it also,” Ethan replied, pulling her hair aside and placing soft kisses down her neck.
“Aren’t you gonna miss your work? We’re going to spend a long time here.”
“I’ll work from here, Eve. I might go back once in a while if something urgent arises.”
“I like this feeling.” Eve sighed and rubbed her stomach.
“What feeling?” Ethan turned her around and stared at her face.
“The feeling of being in love, Honey. I never got to experience it in my past life,” Eve said softly and kissed his cheek.
She never felt this with Cole. Maybe she was already in love with Ethan from the time she woke up. The time she realized all he’d done for her. And the time she regretted how she’d treated him.
“You keep mentioning your past life. Sometimes I believe you’re not making things up. And sometimes, I think you’re too engrossed in your fantasies, Eve.”
“They’re not just fantasies. Anything is possible.”
Eve wrapped her arms around his waist and returned her eyes to the island. “I feel guilty for dragging you here, Ethan. Sometimes you’re going to miss working in the company.”
“You didn’t drag me here. It was my idea.”
His idea to keep her safe. Eve sighed in contentment. Maybe to make her feel secure? Sometimes she’d scold herself for overthinking. It might be possible that Wade would never bother them again.
After all, she’d spoiled all the plans he used to destroy Ethan’s company and end them in her past life. Maybe he was only bluffing.
“It’s not work that makes me happy.” Ethan went on after a while. “It’s the feeling of being with you, Eve. Now we can spend a long time together without any interruption.”
“Awwn, you’re becoming an expert in sugary words, Ethan… Tell me where you’re learning it. I can’t let you break my record as the most romantic lover ever.”
“I’m afraid I’ll have to keep that a secret, Mrs. Anderson.” Ethan picked her up and walked into the room. “Because my mission is to break your record.”
Eve giggled as he placed her on the bed and she circled her arms around his neck, pulling him down with her.
“Not a chance, Honey. This Young Lady doesn’t accept defeat.”
“We’ll see about that.” Ethan laughed softly and leaned forward.
When it was dinner time, Eve walked downstairs with him and went to the dining table.
“I hope you’re settling well here, Miss. Joseph.” As they ate their food, she asked the gynecologist.
“Please call me Sara, Mrs. Anderson. This place is nice, I like it a lot. Thank you for the good treatment, Mr. Anderson.”
“It’s nothing,” Ethan murmured between mouthfuls. “As long as you take great care of my wife.”
“That won’t be an issue.” The gynecologist smiled sweetly at him. “It is my job to take great care of her. Your wife is a lovely person, and she’s very easy to deal with. I won’t disappoint you, Mr. Anderson.”
“Eve, we’re getting a new gynecologist,” Ethan said later that night as they lay on the bed.
“A new gynecologist?” Eve’s brows creased into a frown. “Isn’t Sara good enough?”
“I don’t like her,” Ethan said flatly.
“Come on, Honey. I’m sure she did nothing wrong. You can’t just fire our gynecologist on the first day. Even if she makes a mistake, we’ll give her a warning. Then if she repeats it, we can think of firing her.”
Ethan’s expression didn’t change. However, he didn’t speak further but pulled her closer and hugged her.
“Ethan.” Eve played with his pajama button. “What did you not like about her? Sara is a smart person.”
“I don’t like the way she dresses.”
“Is that it?” Eve lifted her head and stared at him. “And I thought it was something huge. There’s no fault in how she dresses. Sara is a city girl and a fresh graduate. Many girls these days prefer to dress in that fashion.”
“Mmm.” Ethan only nodded and he closed his eyes, and Eve dropped her head on his chest.
“You can be stubborn sometimes, Honey. Just don’t fire my gynecologist otherwise I’ll throw tantrums,” she murmured in a warning tone.
Although his temper had died down almost non-existent, Eve knew that the raging volcano was hiding somewhere behind the now loose man.
Since he claimed he didn’t like the girl, she might just commit a tiny mistake and he wouldn’t think twice before firing her.
Sometimes, he might even be more sensitive than a pregnant lady.
