Chapter 101 Fooling Her
Urgh!
She wouldn't for the sake of her baby alone, tie herself back to the man, right?
Her emotions were more important. Maybe the building desire to stay wasn't only because of her baby alone.
Damn!
What was she thinking?
Unable to catch any more sleep, Violet stared at the ceiling for a while. And then, she left the room to head downstairs and get something to drink.
But the moment she stepped out of Mimi's room and walked down the hallway, a strange fragrance engulfed her senses.
It almost felt familiar, bringing out the fear she'd only just experienced.
Was she imagining it?
Frowning, Violet proceeded downstairs, shoving those thoughts aside.
Yet, the fragrance got stronger, muddling her mind.
She paused for some seconds and held the stair railing to pull herself back together.
Weird!
Why was she suddenly feeling strange?
What was this eerie feeling in her heart?
Violet took another step, struggling to compose herself.
Her mind told her to go back, her footsteps getting heavy.
Yet, the sound of a familiar voice piqued her curiosity and she resumed walking downstairs.
It wasn't only a familiar voice, but also a familiar sound.
Was she still in the nightmare?
What was she about to witness?
“Oh, Clyde. Why don't you use any protection? What if I fall pregnant?”
Violet came to a halt, blinking at the sight in front of her.
Cora's moans resounded in the living room as she rode the man on the couch, half naked and obviously out of breath.
“Why does that matter? I only want to have a baby with you!” Came his reply, so familiar, bringing back the same heartache she'd felt five years ago.
No!
This wasn't happening!
Violet covered her ears, suppressing those voices.
Yet, she couldn't peel her eyes off the couple making out on the couch. Her whole body shook with anger, the tears dampening her face flowing on their own.
Wasn't this scene the same as five years ago?
Cora had won again, after all.
Maybe she had always won. Clyde had always been pretending.
It hadn't even passed a day yet when Cora moved in here and he couldn't wait.
Were all his words lies?
Did she almost get fooled by him again?
“Violet is a nuisance, Clyde. When are you gonna send her away?”
“Forget about her. As long as you stay here, we’ll both be happy.”
“But Violet won't approve.” Cora gasped as he swiftly changed positions. “She wants me out of this place. It's obvious.”
“Violet will have no choice if I keep telling her that I'll send you away. Just keep acting stubborn.”
Right before her eyes, he made love to another woman.
After changing positions, Clyde was now on top of her, their moans echoing in the room.
His eyes strayed to Violet and the look in them was far from regret.
He smirked, in fact, giving her a triumphant look.
Unable to bear the sight anymore, Violet turned around and rushed back to the stairs, her knees getting weaker as she struggled to hold the railings for support.
Something snapped inside her heart.
The pain was suddenly gone and there was only emptiness.
Still, her tears didn't stop falling.
She couldn't control herself as she sank onto the floor and sobbed her heart out.
Indeed, Clyde still had the same effects on her.
His actions still hurt her.
She was still affected by his betrayal.
She shouldn't be surprised by this sudden discovery, yet, her mind couldn't bear the idea.
She couldn't digest it yet as she struggled to grasp onto the reality!
Why?
Why did he love breaking her?
Several minutes passed by and she could still hear those sounds from the living room.
Despite covering her ears, the sounds were loud and clear.
Violet buried her head in her knees, wishing it could stop.
If only she wasn't so weak.
If only she could turn back time all the way back to when she first met him.
If only she could rethink her decisions, then she would never have to end up with him.
“Violet!”
The voice floated from above, so gentle, yet, so distant.
“What are you doing here? What happened?”
She didn't look up.
She didn't want to.
How dare he follow her?
How dare he pretend that nothing happened?
“Look at me, Violet…” He squatted in front of her, the scent of his cologne replacing that strange fragrance. “Why're you sitting alone here?”
Clyde lifted her chin.
He was no longer half-naked but fully dressed in his pajamas.
He stared at her, a look of concern flashing in his eyes.
How could a person be so two-faced?
“Are you alright-”
“Pak!”
Before he finished speaking, Violet delivered a hot slap across his face.
Did she look alright to him?
Did he think she was crazy or what!?
She jerked up and pushed past him, ignoring the shocked look in his eyes.
Weird!
Where did that come from?
Clyde’s eyes followed her, unable to get over his shock.
He didn't see the slap coming.
He didn't expect that when she looked up, her eyes would be so puffy with tears.
Violet wasn't irrational to slap him out of nowhere. Did he hurt her without realizing?
Why was she crying here alone in the middle of the night?
Instead of wasting time contemplating, Clyde straightened up and grabbed her. “What's happening?”
“Leave me alone!” Her screams echoed in the dead night, shaking the walls of the Villa.
Violet raised her hand to give him another slap.
This time, he saw it coming, and he quickly avoided it.
What had gotten into her?
“Listen to me, Violet-”
“Why should I?” She hit his chest. “If you won't leave me alone, Clyde, kill me so I can have peace. You don't have to be sneaking around with your mistress! You don't need to treat me like a fool. Just leave me and my daughter alone so we can leave this damned place! You can still have more children with Cora!”
