Chapter 104 Also An Heiress

…

At Another End of the City.

Fuming, Cora tossed her phone across the bathroom wall.

Watching the expensive device shatter against the floor was nothing in comparison to the rage inside her heart.

Damnit!

Did she mess up this time?

Who knew her plan would backfire immediately?

Who knew that bitch would escape her trap again?

“Careful, Dear.” A chuckle sounded behind her. “That wall cost millions. If you end up destroying everything in my home, I'm afraid your price will double!”

Groaning inside, Cora rolled her eyes.

She hated herself.

She hated his filthy hands running over her body.

Sitting inside the bathtub, she had no chance to wallow in her own misery all thanks to the nosy man who couldn't keep his hands off her.

Honestly, she regretted coming here.

But where else could she go in the middle of the night, half-naked?

She couldn't believe Clyde did that to her.

All because of that bitch, he disregarded her safety and threw her out when the whole world was asleep.

“Remaining angry will only worsen your wound. How about we brainstorm solutions, Dear?”

What stupid solution?

Cora scoffed, slapping his hand off.

“I only want her dead. Is that too much to ask?”

“How can I grant your wish when you haven't fulfilled your promise yet?” He chuckled. “The chairman position is all I want. It's not that hard to steal some documents.”

That could lead Clyde into trouble.

That could tarnish his image.

If Cora did that, Clyde would never be able to get that position.

But so what!?

She'd rather have him lose that position than watch him slip away.

“I never said I won't fulfill my promise. It won't hurt to carry out my wish first, you know. All I want is that girl gone! I never want to see her near him again!”

Damn!

The thought that she could be Mrs. Crawford by now if Violet hadn't reappeared still haunted her.

Cora was almost close.

She could almost smell her victory before that vixen reappeared.

“Tsk!” Herman clicked his tongue. “It would be a waste to kill such a beauty, you know. How about this? I have a better solution.”

What solution was better than getting rid of her?

Furrowing her brows, Cora stared at the evil smirk on his face through the mirror across from them.

“I bet you're thinking what I'm thinking.”

Seriously, she wasn't.

All she wanted was for Violet to be gone.

“Relax, Cora…” He kissed her shoulder. “Very soon, you and I will get what we want. Very soon.”

Cora sighed, leaning against him.

If he didn't share some resemblance with Clyde, she would never have let him touch her.

However, she could fantasize about him being the man she loved and was obsessed with.

With the hope in mind that very soon Clyde would be hers, she could endure anything.

Her gaze strayed to the shattered device and she greeted her teeth, recalling what Becca had just told her on the phone.

The woman said that she was on her own.

She was only bluffing when she threatened to take Clyde's daughter away from him.

She could no longer do anything or help her.

Wasn't she the same person who promised to make sure she ended up with her son?

Strange!

Something must have changed about the woman and she had to get down to its roots.

Cora left Herman’s private Villa on the outskirts of the city only in the evening.

She headed straight to the Crawford's Mansion.

Instead of going straight to his parents’ quarters, she headed to Clyde's quarters.

“Ms. Reid, the Young Master, and his wife have moved out, and the place is locked.” A servant stopped her in the doorway. “If you need anything-”

“Well, I need the keys.” Cora interrupted her words. “Unless you want to lose your job.”

The servant looked back and forth from her to the door.

Despite appearing fearful, she shook her head. “Please try and understand, Ms. Reid. The Young Master is very strict about his privacy.”

“I won't repeat myself.” Cora held out her hand, tapping her feet impatiently.

The servant hesitated before handing her the keys. “Here you go, Ms. Reid.”

Cora snatched the keys and shoved past her.

She unlocked the large doors and entered the building.

Glancing around the place brought back a sense of nostalgia.

Growing up, she'd always dreamed of living here someday as Mrs. Crawford.

She never knew fate would take such a drastic turn.

She never knew that idiot would go and have himself killed.

If her brother was still alive, wouldn't he make sure that she got what she wanted?

Then she wouldn't have to go through the hassle of chasing after Clyde.

Cora headed straight to the study room.

Hopefully, those documents were still there.

To make sure they were very secure and safe, he'd hidden them here and never let anyone near that safe.

Even while she was his secretary, Clyde never allowed her to touch it.

She took in a deep breath, unlocked the safe, and brought out the documents, her hands trembling a bit.

If, in case, things went wrong… if he, in case, found out that she took these documents, it would be the end for her.

To prevent that from happening, she must make sure that the servant never breathed any word.

Cora flipped through the documents, wondering what was so special about them.

On seeing the information they held, however, her perspective completely changed.

She covered her mouth, her eyes widening.

Damn! This was crazy!

It was no wonder that Herman wanted them.

She'd initially thought that it was a document that concerned the company,

But this…

It could tarnish Clyde's reputation forever.

She carefully tucked the documents inside her bag and slipped out of the place.

When she arrived at his parents’ quarters, she saw Becca sitting in the living room with her husband.

They seemed to be discussing an important topic.

“So he wasn't making things up. She has origins after all. If what you're saying is the truth, then does that mean Violet is also an heiress?”
