Chapter 107 Her Sharp Tongue
She dropped the small tray containing cupcakes in her hands and looked up to find a lady smiling at her.
She didn't know why, but she had a feeling that the lady's smile was a bit dangerous.
“Who are you?” She asked.
Yet, the lady's smile only got bigger.“Oh, I get it. This gathering is so huge, containing almost all the businessmen in the country. You don't want us to make a scene here, right?”
Make a scene?
She seriously didn't understand what the lady meant.
“Since that's the case, how about we pretend to be friends tonight, Violet.” The lady stepped closer.
Indeed, she looked very beautiful and harmless apart from her half-smile.
Glancing around for Asher and failing to find him, she returned her attention to the lady.
“Why not? We were never enemies,” She replied.
“Oh, is that so?” The lady snickered and then gestured to a waiter passing by. “Then let's make a toast to a happy friendship from now on.”
The lady picked up two glasses of wine and gave one to her.
After making a toast, the lady fixed her in such an electrifying gaze that she couldn't help but gulp down the wine at once due to anxiety.
“Oh, Violet. How I wish you were always this obedient,” she chuckled before walking away.
The lady didn't linger for any more conversation.
How strange.
She was back to being alone, standing by the pastries stand, and feeling bored.
A few minutes later though, something strange began to happen.
She was feeling lightheaded. Her skin was getting itchy.
“Hey, My Love, having a great time, huh?” A strange man approached.
He wasn't Asher.
“Wait for me. The President of AG Group is here. It's a rare opportunity to collaborate with Mrs. Harrison,” he explained then walked away.
Shaking her head to chase away the dizziness, her eyes followed his back.
He wasn't much taller than Asher. From his appearance and all, he must be very mighty and influential.
The dizziness increased. The itching went away, but now her body was beginning to feel hot.
The heat that spread through her body wasn't painful. However, it was so uncomfortable that beads of sweat started forming on her forehead.
“Violet, are you alright?”
By the time Asher returned, she was already gasping for breath.
Something strange was happening.
She couldn't even form a coherent word and stumbled forward.
Asher caught her.
His touch alone sent a strange sensation coursing through her body.
The taste of the wine lingered and she licked her lips.
“Damnit!” He cursed. “Who did you interact with after I was gone?”
She only interacted with that strange lady.
What was happening to her body?
“I don't feel well… Please take me out of here.”
“Of course, we're leaving here immediately.” He sounded a bit angry.
Did she make him mad?
But Asher's anger must not be due to her. Because, after they left the hall and he took her inside the car, he brought out his phone and dialed James.
“Twenty minutes into the event someone has already drugged Violet. Find out whomever it is and make sure they get punished.”
After grumbling out the orders, he returned his attention to her. “Hang on, Violet. I'll take you to the hospital.”
Drugged?
Did that lady put something inside the wine?
Was she gonna die?
Oh, he shouldn't have touched her.
When his palm made contact with her bare shoulder, she could no longer handle it.
She shifted close and hugged him tight. Yet, that didn't douse the burning desire inside her.
She just wanted him to touch her again.
“Violet, sit still…” He said in a strained voice. “You'll be okay soon.”
How could she sit still when she was no longer in control of her body?
While her brain was shouting, ‘No!’ her fingers were already fiddling with his shirt’s button.
“Violet-”
She leaned upward and locked her lips with his, shushing the rest of his words.
He tried to push her away, but her body seemed stronger than she remembered.
She couldn't peel herself off him.
“Violet, stop!” He grumbled when she pulled away.
She wanted to follow his command but couldn't.
And when his hands didn't let go of her waist, it only ignited her more.
She straddled him and pulled down her shoulder straps, the heat getting unbearable.
Through her half-lidded eyes, she noticed his eyes widened a bit and then he cursed out loud.
“Take us back to the hotel!” His instruction to the driver was the last thing she registered before she passed out.

Clyde returned to the pastries stand to find her gone.
That was strange.
First, she made an excuse to search for her best friend who had suddenly gone missing.
And then, he found her eating cupcakes alone here. And now she had disappeared like a ghost.
He didn't even spend twenty minutes conversing with Mrs. Harrison.
“Oh, Clyde… looking for someone?”
Hearing the most annoying voice, Clyde frowned in irritation.
He turned around, narrowing his eyes at her. “Haven't I warned you never to appear in my presence?”
“This is a public gathering and I don't have the heart to pass you by.” Cora smiled. “Even Violet was kind enough not to make a scene.”
Violet!
“Have you seen her?” Funny how he was suddenly having a strange feeling when Cora mentioned her name. “What did you do to her?”
“I'm not daring enough to offend Mrs. Crawford.” She twirled the wine glass between her fingers. “Wouldn't Mr. Crawford make sure I'm dead?”
Ignoring the crazy girl, Clyde brought out his phone to dial Violet's number.
However, he hadn't even made the phone call yet when she approached. “Clyde, please help! I think Freya's in trouble.”
Her best friend?
Clyde could recall her coming with Harry.
He'd warned him not to bring her. It shouldn't be that what he feared had already happened.
“You, Violet!” Cora gasped, dragging everyone's attention.
She gave Violet a strange look, stammering some incoherent words. “Y- You look alright?”
“That is because the only sick person here is you.” Violet rolled her eyes at her. “Not done chasing after people's husbands? Did Mr. Crawford finally say that he loves you too?”
“You!” Cora fumed, her expression turning bitter.
Clyde had to admit that he was impressed. Violet's sharp tongue had come in handy.
