Chapter 108 Double-cross Her
Looking back and forth from Clyde to Violet, Cora couldn't understand what was going on.
What the hell happened?
She watched Violet empty that glass of wine.
She was sure it was the right glass.
“Let's get out of here.” Clyde threw a glare in her direction and held Violet's hand.
The scorching sight terrified Cora.
No way!
She wasn't gonna let Violet leave.
If her plan failed tonight, then she would be at the receiving end.
“Wait!” She blocked their path. “How can you guys just leave when the party's not over? You told me yourself that we're not enemies tonight, Violet. How about we make a toast?”
If the first wine didn't work, then the second one would.
Cora would make sure that the waiter regretted playing with his job.
Maybe he didn't put the drug in that glass.
“Are you crazy?” Violet gave her a condescending look, eyeing her from head to toe. “Maybe you hit your head somewhere, Cora. Get out of my sight.”
And Clyde pushed her away before he and Violet left, leaving her in shame and the center of attention.
Cora gritted her teeth, gripping the wine glass in her hand.
How the hell did Violet escape her trap?
Did that bitch trick her?
Did she pretend to be friends to make a fool out of her?
Her heart burned with fury, her eyes watering up as she watched the duo walk out of the hall.
Damnit!
Her phone rang and she brought it out.
Seeing the number displayed on the screen, Cora grimaced.
“I'm tired of waiting, Love. When are you gonna bring her to me?” A sleepy deep voice of a male sounded.
He was just upstairs, inside one of the hotel’s suites.
Their plan was to have a hotel staff take Violet up there after the drug started taking effect.
Cora had envisioned her victory.
She'd imagined the scenario that could happen.
After Herman slept with her and the video leaked out, would Clyde still be able to call her his wife?
Would she still hold her head high and claim she was Mrs. Crawford?
“Why are you quiet?” Herman grumbled. “Don't tell me your plan failed. Can you even do anything right, Cora? It seems you're not so desperate to be with my nephew-”
“No!” Cora stopped him.
Damn! This was her only chance.
And to think that she'd already given those documents to him.
“I- I, you can still follow the other plan. Just get rid of her.”
Was that even difficult?
But it seemed Herman would rather sleep with Violet than kill that bitch!
What the hell did he see in her?
“If that's what you want, I might agree…” He chuckled darkly from the other end, the chill in his voice making her shudder. “You can come and convince me.”
Cora gulped.
She didn't want to be anywhere near that man.
Well, what choice did she have?
She'd lost every support including from Clyde’s parents.
His grandfather never liked her in the first place, and his mother had just found out that Violet came from a lineage of a wealthy family.
Who knew if that crazy woman had also changed her mind?
Which meant Herman was the only person she could rely on.
If Violet was out of the picture for good, Clyde would have no other choice but to marry her.
She hung up the phone and gulped down all the wine inside the glass.
The alcohol was taking effect and she was somehow dizzy.
Cora wasn't supposed to be drunk.
Who knew if that crazy man was going to take advantage of her the way he'd always done?
She headed to the elevator which took her to the top floor of the hotel.
Recalling the room’s number, she went there and found the door open.
Cora hesitated before knocking.
She wouldn't dare barge inside.
Strange how she was beginning to fear that crazy man.
Maybe she shouldn't have handed him those documents yet until her wish had been granted.
“If you keep standing there, I might actually do something you won't like.” His voice echoed from inside the suite.
Cora scoffed, brazing herself.
She stepped inside and he suddenly grabbed her.
Before she could react, the man was already pinning her against the wall, his sharp fingers digging into the skin of her neck.
She gasped, her heart racing as raw fear crawled inside her. “Are you out of your mind?”
“I should ask you the same!” He gave her a menacing smile that made her think about the devil himself.
Shit!
She shouldn't have struck a deal with him.
“If only you knew how desperately I've been anticipating this moment,” Leaning forward, he whispered in her ear. “Do you know how long I've been dreaming of having her in my bed?”
Cora struggled, yet, she was powerless against him. “Let go.”
“Why should I?” He cackled. “Will you be responsible for my disappointment?”
Was she supposed to?
“Oh, I shouldn't be asking you that question.” He grabbed her waist and jerked her forward. “I should make you take responsibility.”
“S-Stop it!” Cora stammered.
No way she was going to let him lay his filthy hands on her tonight.
“We’ll get her next time. Herman, haven't I already given you what you wanted?”
“The Documents alone won't do! I want Violet.”
Of course, he could have her.
Cora didn't care.
But the only thing she cared about right now was her life.
He could strangle her to death and she would die for nothing.
“J- Just give me another chance,” She pleaded. “I'll do as you say.”
“Good girl.” Herman let go of her neck.
He picked her up and tossed her on the bed, stripping off her clothes.
How did things end up like this?
She only wanted that bitch to die!
Was that too much to ask?
But it turned out even Herman didn't want to kill Violet. Wasn't her luck too good to be true?
Maybe she should take things into her own hands and stop relying on anybody.
Herman could double-cross her.
If, in case, she survived tonight, then Violet was going to regret her existence.
