Chapter 109 Always Wait for Him

At Twilight Hotel.

The atmosphere was intense, the tension inside the room unmatched by any other.

Maybe he was the only person feeling the tension.

Asher couldn't believe it.

He was definitely going to regret this forever.

How was he gonna explain this to her when she came back to her senses… when she finally regained her memories and discovered the truth?

“You're so quiet.” Her voice floated into his ears, her sighs of contentment echoing in the silent room.

The serene atmosphere was nothing compared to the turmoil inside his heart.

Her peaceful appearance and her relaxed muscles as she lay on his chest contrasted with his tense ones.

“Honey…” She murmured. “Whoever that lady is, she's dangerous. Please you have to avenge me. What would have happened to me if you weren't there last night?”

Asher didn't know the lady she was speaking about.

Unfortunately, his assistant’s search turned out futile.

The lady's back was facing the surveillance camera while she gave her the wine.

Besides, she wasn't the only person wearing that kind of dress in the venue.

Not finding the culprit wasn't his biggest disappointment, though.

Asher was more disappointed in himself.

He was disappointed that he couldn't control himself.

“Hey, what are you thinking?” She dragged his attention. “Did you hear what I said?”

Asher simply nodded, the heavy weight on his chest suffocating.

“You appear sad… What's wrong?” She added.

Well, everything was wrong.

The regret inside his heart was overwhelming.

He only wished that he could turn back time.

Then he would have taken precautions to prevent what happened last night.

“Nothing's wrong.” Rubbing her bare shoulder, he forced a smile. “I was just reminiscing.”

“About what?” She smiled eagerly at him.

Yes, what exactly was he reminiscing about?

Damnit!

How was he going to explain this to Violet?

He'd never been intimate with any woman. He'd always regarded himself as a saint with a high sense of self-control.

But now… He hated himself.

“This is our first time getting intimate after my accident.” When she didn't get his reply, she went on. “Are you reminiscing about the past? Have I become weaker? Did I disappoint you last night?”

“No, you didn't,” He answered instantly.

Strange how the idea of making her sad through his answers terrified him.

To avoid more questions from her, Asher left the bed and entered the bathroom.

Yet, as he stood under the shower, letting the water fall all over his body, images of what happened last night flashed through his vision.

She'd initiated their contact, while he was the one who took the lead in the end.

He wasn't himself.

He hadn't been himself ever since he met her.

Ever since he saw her for the first time lying on the hospital bed, he was gradually losing himself.

He'd been observing self-control as hard as he could, but last night changed everything.

Lingering under the shower wasn't helping.

He came out of the bathroom to find her still in bed.

She was now deeply asleep.

She must be exhausted.

What if he had hurt her?

What if her wounds had opened up?

Asher grabbed his phone from the bedside table and summoned a physician.

A while later, he was standing on the hotel's rooftop, conversing with his assistant.

“Whoever that lady is, she must be a powerful figure. All the hotel staff refused to say a word even after I made the manager threaten them with their jobs. They'd rather lose their job than reveal the lady.”

As James reported to him, Asher contemplated his words.

“Additionally, I couldn't get the information of all the guests as they are all private. Our search is futile, Mr. Sydney,” James added in low spirits.

Whoever that lady was, she must be after the real Violet.

Drugging her with such drugs meant she was planning something big.

Violet's life must be in danger.

Asher had to do something. He had to warn her.

Without thinking twice, he retrieved his phone from his pocket and dialed her number.

This wasn't the moment to contemplate his promise of not being in contact with her, especially now that someone was after her.

However, the phone rang several times but she didn't pick it up.

Asher was dialing her number for the tenth time when gentle footsteps sounded from behind him.

“Violet. Were you calling my number?” She saw his phone's screen and she asked. “Oh, I forgot my phone inside the suite.”

Asher turned around, masking his shock at her sudden appearance on the rooftop.

He nodded to James, communicating silently.

Understanding his command, James offered her a smile before leaving.

“It seems I've interrupted you guys…” She gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry.”

“It was nothing important.” Asher shrugged, taking in her appearance.

Dressed in a white knee-length dress, her supple skin seemed to be shining.

Her docile yet innocent appearance made him remember Violet. They almost possessed the same aura.

“James appears to be in a hurry.” She stood beside him, hooking her arm around his and resting her head on his shoulder. “I hope he's fine.”

“Yeah. He is.” Asher followed her gaze and stared at the vast city below.

Violet must be somewhere among this crowded place.

Hopefully, she was alright.

The feeling of something soft against his cheek snapped him out of his trance.

He glanced sideways and their lips almost touched.

“Lemme guess.” She gave him a playful smile. “Your favorite hobby is spacing out.”

“I'm sorry.” Asher didn't know why he was suddenly apologizing.

Yet, her smile never faded. “I'm not mad. As long as we can stay like this sometimes, I'll be forever happy.”

“By the way…” She continued. “The Doctor assured me that my body is fine. Those drugs aren't fatal enough to affect any organs.”

But they were fatal enough to throw him into a state of unrest.

“How about we spend a few more days here, Hubby?” She suggested. “I like it here. I love the peace and the feeling of love around me. While you go out for business, I'll always wait for your return on this rooftop.”
