Chapter 118 Carved From The Same Mold
Violet never expected the location to be so far.
Twilight Hotel was located in the center of the city, and the ride took almost thirty minutes.
By then, her nerves were already tense, anticipation making her tap her feet rapidly on the floor.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath to calm down.
“It’s okay, Vi. Relax.” Freya touched her shoulder, giving her a reassuring rub.
Violet returned the gesture with a smile.
They left the car and entered the enormous hotel.
Asher didn't tell Freya what room they were in.
Bringing out her phone, Freya dialed his number and communicated with him as they passed by the security.
While Freya spoke with him, Violet glanced around the place.
“No. I'm alone,” Freya said.
“It’s not something that can be said on the phone,” she added after a few seconds’ pause.
“Damnit! Ash! I'm already at the hotel, just tell me where you are!”
Freya finally hung up, looking displeased.
She made a funny face at her phone and shoved it inside her pocket.
“Urgh! He's so unbelievable. Ash just told me that he has left the hotel!”
Hearing Freya’s statement, Violet paused.
Left the hotel?
Didn't Freya tell him she was coming?
How could he leave so suddenly?
We were already inside the hotel and the idea of turning back only increased Violet’s anxiety.
She sighed.
“Asher’s so cunning.” Freya sighed as well. “Maybe he sensed something was off and he didn't want to trust me. Argh! Does this mean we’ll have to go back empty-handed?”
Seemed like it.
It was pointless to wander inside this huge hotel.
Besides, the security might find them suspicious.
Violet contemplated speaking with Asher instead and telling him the truth, but the fear of it making him put his guard up discouraged her.
They had to turn and get back to the car.
On their way out of the hotel, however, one of the security men strode over to her.
“Damn! Are we in trouble?” Freya grabbed her hand.
Violet wasn’t sure if they were in trouble, because the security man had a concerned look on his face.
“Where are you off to, Ma’am? Mr. Sydney has asked us to watch over you. Do you need any help?”
It only took Violet a second to understand what was happening as the security guy addressed her.
She exchanged glances with Freya, and it seemed like their thoughts just synced.
Violet got into the act and scratched her neck, putting on a confused look.
“Uhmm, actually I'm leaving to look for him. He's been gone for a while.”
“Mr. Sydney?” The security man frowned, looking as if what she said was impossible. “I saw his car in the parking lot.”
Violet glanced at Freya again.
She wasn't wrong by guessing that Asher must have sensed something.
She turned to the security. “I didn't see him around. He left in the morning. Is his car really in the parking lot?”
The security man nodded affirmatively.
He pointed upstairs. “Maybe he's somewhere in here taking care of some business. How about you wait for him at the rooftop as usual, Ma’am? Once I see Mr. Sydney, I’ll let him know you've searched for him.”
Violet nodded.
Smiling, she thanked the security man.
And without a second thought, she grabbed Freya’s hand and they dashed for the stairs.
Thank goodness the security man didn't detect anything strange.
“If that man is right, she must be at the rooftop since that's where she usually waits for Ash,” Freya said.
But Violet had a single worry. “What if he's with her?”
“That makes it even better!” Freya snickered. “I’d love to see the look on his face after lying to me.”
Freya was obviously going to enjoy tormenting the guy.
But it was the least of Violet’s worries.
Her sole desire right now was to meet her.
Tasha.
Hopefully, it was her.
They arrived at the rooftop. And true to the security man’s words, a lady was standing there.
However, she wasn't alone.
Violet came to a screeching halt and gasped.
Freya gasped as well, cursing under her breath. “What the heck!”
Behold, Asher stood with her.
Locked in a tight embrace, they were engrossed in a passionate kiss.
Freya tried to cover Violet’s eyes, but she’d already seen everything.
She’d seen Asher.
She’d seen the lady who looked exactly like her.
And she’d seen how so distracted they were by the kiss that they didn't notice their presence.
“Speak about true love,” Freya grumbled in a low voice. “Is Ash sleeping with your sister as well? Because it seems like it.”
He pretended she was his wife after all, so that was possible.
Funny how Violet didn't feel anything.
It was strange that she didn't feel the heartbreak she was expecting.
Only disappointment.
Asher would never take advantage of someone because of their condition. And yet, the truth was right in front of her.
Unable to hold it in, Violet strode forward, fists clenched.
Freya tried to stop her but failed.
As she approached the couple, they pulled apart quickly.
Asher’s expression looked pale, and Violet couldn’t see the lady’s reaction because her only focus was on the man.
Her first instinct was to slap him, but she managed to control her emotions.
“What’s this, Ash? What’s the meaning of this? Who’s she?”
Asher opened his mouth. Seemingly shocked, he didn’t say a word but just blinked.
“Ash!”
“I- I’m so sorry, Violet.” He returned to his senses and stammered. “I- I can explain.”
“Violet?” The other lady looked confused.
She glanced from Violet to Asher, and her face paled.
Now Violet was definitely sure that she was that Tasha.
The resemblance was uncanny. Even she couldn’t find the difference between them.
It was as if they were carved out of the same mold and nobody could tell them apart.
All of a sudden, Tasha stumbled and fell forward. If Asher hadn’t caught her in time, her body would have hit the ground when she fainted.
