Chapter 42 Go With Him

…

At Continental Villa Estates.

Violet sighed for the umpteenth time, walking back and forth in front of the door that led to Mimi's room.

The little girl's heartbreaking sobs echoed from inside the room and she pounded on the window now and then, probably trying to open it.

Thank goodness the window was high from the ground and tightly locked.

She couldn't imagine what would have happened to her baby if she tried to jump from it.

“Mimi, stop crying, Dear. Can you please open the door?”

This was like her thousandth time saying the same statement.

How strange that the girl could bolt the door, blocking her out. “Hearing you cry breaks Mummy's heart.”

“Mummy, it's not my fault. Promise me you'll take me to my Daddy. You can't send Daddy away.”

Her bitter sobs resounded, breaking Violet's heart to pieces.

“I- I didn't send your Daddy away,” She stuttered.

Indeed, she'd blocked him off and also made sure Asher blocked all the ways Clyde could get access to this Villa.

Her daughter was partly correct,

But they didn't need Clyde in their life.

His appearance alone was about to upend everything she'd been so painstakingly building.

“Baby, your breakfast is getting cold-”

“Won't eat anything if Daddy's not here.” Mimi sniffled. “I want my Daddy, Mummy. Why're you being a meanie?”

Violet leaned against the door, sighing in exasperation.

No doubt, Mimi was very mad at her.

But the idea of fulfilling her promise, of going back to IvoryHills with Clyde was unsettling.

Violet had only promised him that she would consider it yesterday at the hospital because she wanted him to let them go.

If she'd declined on the spot, that heartless man was definitely not going to let them go.

She's managed to trick Clyde, but could she brainwash her daughter?

Violet was prepared for this.

What she didn't know was that her baby would be so stubborn and persistent.

It was almost nine o'clock and the girl refused to eat.

“Mimi-”

“Mummy, I'm starving!” Mimi wailed. “Just bring Daddy here, and I promise I'll eat!”

Violet patted her chest, holding back her tears.

She hated to see her baby cry.

And with the girl's condition, crying a lot would surely make her illness act up.

“Please don't cry too much, Dear…” She coaxed. “Mummy will think of something-”

“I want my Daddy!” The whole Villa shook with her screams.

Violet had to cover her ears to protect her eardrums.

Honestly, she was confused.

She couldn't let Clyde make his way back to her life.

That heartless man had broken her beyond repair.

Her relationship with Asher was turning into something else because of him.

Violet didn't wish to witness that side of Asher again.

Last night, the man turned into a completely different person.

She couldn't blame Asher much as Clyde had a huge part to play in it.

“Daddy…” Mimi's sobs gradually turned into whimpers. “If Daddy doesn't come, I- I can't taste any food, Mummy.”

“Ma’am, why don't we ask Mr. Sydney to come back?” The maid, who had been standing with her outside the door, suggested. “He might be able to coax little Mimi.”

Asher was already off to work.

Violet couldn't disturb him with such a minor issue.

Besides,

If even she couldn't coax her daughter, who else could?

Mimi's tantrums weren't always this chaotic.

At least, she'd never refused to eat before.

“I just want my Daddy-” Her whimpers continued echoing. “Don't be mean, Mummy. Daddy promised to stay forever.”

And Violet was the liar.

Mimi wouldn't believe her that Clyde left on his own.

The girl was certain that it was she who pushed him away.

Although Violet looked forward to her daughter believing her, she never saw the outcome coming.

“What's those screams I've been hearing right from the gates!?” A loud voice sounded in the hallway, belonging to none other than Freya.

She appeared, trotting on her high heels with an alarming look on her face. “Violet, what happened to her?”

Violet gave her a hopeless look, glancing between her and the door.

Freya was supposed to come back today. But she didn't expect her to visit so soon.

“Hey, Mimi… tell me why you're crying. Trust Aunt Freya to get justice for you.” Freya didn't wait for Violet’s response. She knocked on the door, calling out to the girl. “Was it Mummy who offended you?”

“Forget Mummy, Aunt Freya… Can you please bring my Daddy here?”

“Her Daddy?” Freya's gaze snapped to Violet, and she whispered, “What's that supposed to mean?”

Violet shrugged.

A lot had happened behind Freya's back.

It would take at least ten minutes to explain it all to her.

“Daddy promised me he'll never leave. Mummy sent him away- I just want my Daddy!” Mimi added, while her whimpers turned into tiny hiccups.

Violet was really afraid her baby would injure herself.

Helpless at what else to do, she pulled Freya to a corner and briefed her on everything.

The more she spoke, the more angry Freya looked.

And when she was done narrating everything, Freya finally erupted. “Damnit! Clyde Crawford has gone too far.”

Violet nodded in agreement. However, she didn't expect Freya's next words.

“But you can't keep the girl away from her father, Vi.” Freya grabbed her shoulders. “Now see how pitiful she has become. Mimi will be traumatized for life if you don't let her be with her father when she so desperately wants to!”

Violet didn't mean to.

She was okay with Clyde acknowledging Mimi.

But she wasn't okay with Mimi following Clyde to IvoryHills.

She was never going to be okay with going back there either.

Violet grew up without a father. He was alive but never cared about her.

She lived a graceful life despite that. Mimi didn't need Clyde to be happy either. Her baby would be just fine.

“Vi, I know that look on your face…” Freya shook her head at her. “You can't be selfish, though. Letting Mimi go with her father doesn't mean she'll stop being your daughter. In no time, she'll miss you and demand they bring her back.”

Well, letting Mimi go wasn't the only problem.

“Clyde insists I also go with him…” Violet folded her hands. “I can't.”
