Chapter 48 Fall Into The Same Regrets
“Clyde Crawford…” Asher gritted out, his tone tensed and tight. “Don't you dare! You know the offense of kidnapping-”
“Would have been more fun if it was a kidnap.” Clyde chortled, reveling in the moment, feeling good about himself. “Unfortunately, I have no time for such petty things. Violet came with me voluntarily-”
“That's a lie!”
“Whatever you say, Asher Sydney.” Clyde clicked his tongue. “Now don't waste my time. My family needs me.”
Then he hung up, smirking as he dropped the phone beside him.
Clyde relaxed back on the reclining chair, taking in a long, deep, contented breath.
On the right row, Violet was sleeping deeply on a similar chair, while beside him, Mimi slept soundly.
He'd never expected this turn of events.
Never had he seen it coming that Violet would agree to follow him.
Hadn't she ditched him?
Hadn't she locked their daughter up because of that?
What changed her mind?
He thought she vowed that she would never come with him.
Clyde wasn't sleepy while everyone inside the plane was fast asleep, including Violet's friends who had decided to follow them.
His gaze trailed to the fragile woman. Ever since she regained consciousness after fainting, he'd noticed that she'd become frailer and paler.
Clyde couldn't help but shift to that row.
Sitting in the chair beside hers, he scrutinized her features carefully.
Funny how he couldn't get enough of staring at her ever since they met for the first time after five years.
He took a few minutes, staring at her soft features.
Her plump lips were dry.
She looked malnourished.
Had she even eaten yet?
Clyde reached out to touch her lips. Suddenly, he had the urge to taste them.
The same spell that had bound him inside the car gradually returned.
He couldn't stop himself from leaning forward. He could no longer control his urges.
“Hey, what are you doing!?” A sharp whisper sounded from behind.
Clyde halted for a second, frowning a bit.
He disregarded that voice and pecked Violet on the lips anyway.
“Damnit! Mr. Crawford, aren't you something?” She whispered again, giving him a disdainful look.
Clyde turned to face the intruder.
He didn't see why he should be ashamed.
What's the point of her getting mad at him?
“I wonder how Violet is gonna react if she knows you kissed her while she was asleep.” The lady gave him a pointed look. “I never knew you were a perv-”
“Shut up. It's none of your business.” Clyde cut her off, ready to ignore her.
But she wasn't leaving him just yet.
His impassiveness must have incited her anger as she stared daggers at him. “Just because you're Mimi's father doesn't give you the right to treat Violet as you please! Mr. Crawford, let me warn you-”
“Violet is still my wife.”
Clyde didn't know why he was explaining things to her.
Well, it wasn't like he cared about how anybody viewed him.
“Nobody's buying that bullshit!” She snickered. “It has been five years already. In between, you must have signed the divorce.”
“One more word and I'll throw you off this plane,” Clyde stated without blinking.
She was becoming a nuisance.
Knowing that her whispers would soon turn into screams the more she spoke, nobody would love that.
She could wake both Violet and Mimi up, while they were both sick.
“Mr. Crawford,” She gasped, giving him a wary look. “You aren't serious, are you?”
“Oh, watch me.” Clyde gave her a menacing look.
Of course, he wasn't serious.
He wasn't so heartless to throw any living being from this height.
But his mission was accomplished. She didn't speak a single word anymore, and only threw him secret glares.
Clyde couldn't care less.
He didn't know how much information of him Violet had fed her best friend.
If he could recall well, her name must be Freya.
Violet had always spoken about her while they were still together and she once told him that her best friend would visit.
However, before that time came, Violet had run away.
How ironic was it that he'd later find her in the most unexpected place and situation?
The plane ride was smooth, and Clyde no longer had any interruptions either from meaningless phone calls or Freya.
He requested two blankets from the flight attendant and settled himself inside the chair.
Well, before the flight attendant returned, he'd already dozed off, giving in to the day’s long exhaustion.
Yet, not long after, his eyelashes tickled.
Surrounded by a familiar scent, Clyde fluttered his lashes open to find himself in a dark place.
It wasn't so dark as he could make out the features of the woman lying next to him. It was more like a dimly lit room.
“Clyde, come on…” She whispered, tracing her soft fingers down the side of his face. “One more time, please… who knows, we might get lucky this time.”
Deep inside, he knew he was extremely worn out.
But how could he resist her request?
He could go as many times as she wanted as long as she kept on asking.
“Don't regret this, Sweetheart.” His deep chuckles echoed inside the bedroom as he towered above her.
She gave him a small smile, hugging him and nuzzling her face in his neck. “I'm stronger than you think, Dummy.”
“Then, your wish is my command.” He caught her lips in his.
Her moans resounded inside the room. His favorite sound in the world.
But the sounds faded gradually, and so was the woman lying next to him.
Displeased, Clyde reached out to grab her, but something slapped his hand-
“Maniac!” The angry voice belonged to no one but Violet.
Clyde returned to his senses.
He woke up to find her giving him her best glare.
For a few seconds, he was stunned at their awkward position.
He couldn't believe what he was doing. Damnit!
Was that just a dream or only a fragment of his memories?
It felt so real. He'd felt her naked body against his.
“Get off me,” She warned. “Or I'll- I'll-” She panted heavily, obviously too angry to speak.
Her expression was priceless.
Clyde couldn't help but activate his mischievous side. “Or you'll do what?”
She stared at him in disbelief.
“We’re not strangers, Violet. Stop acting like one,” he shifted close, whispering in her ear. “Do you also feel it?”
“Get off or I'll bite you!” She pushed him away.
Clyde sighed.
How he wished that dream was real.
He couldn't believe how much he missed those moments.
He must have been abstinent for too long, and now all he could think about was her body.
Damnit!
He should pull himself together before he lost control.
He couldn't make the same mistakes twice and fall into the same regrets!
