Chapter 60 Found Her
Violet didn't realize that she'd been holding her breath.
She literally staggered, patting her chest in relief.
Her baby wasn't here. Thank goodness.
She didn't even want to imagine what would have happened if these huge scary dogs had barked at Mimi.
“Ah! Thank heavens she's not here!” Freya sighed in relief. “But we still have to look for her. I- I don't like how this evening is becoming.”
Violet didn't like it either.
She'd better find Mimi as soon as possible and keep her safe.
“See, you worry too much.” Clyde gave her a helpless look. “I'll deal with that maid for thinking we're her playmates.”
He hadn't turned around, though.
The maid joined them, gasping for breath. “Y- Young Master, did you find her? I swear I heard the Little Young Miss-”
“What's your name?” Clyde frowned at her.
Violet wished the maid never appeared.
It was too late to tell her to turn back.
Although she was also mad at the maid for scaring the shit out of them, firing the young girl from her job shouldn't be the right punishment.
“It’s Ava. D- Did I do anything wrong, Young Master?” The maid started trembling. “Please don't-”
Clyde cut her off. “Meet the Butler and collect your pay for the month. You're fired.”
“Ah! Please, don't!” The maid fell on her knees. “D- Don't fire me, Young Master. I- I swear I was telling the truth! The Little Young Miss was here.”
Clyde didn't listen though.
He kicked her hands off as she tried to hold his leg, then he walked away.
“M- Madam- Mrs. Crawford.” The maid turned to Violet, wailing and bawling her eyes out. “Please don't let him fire me! I swear the Little Young Miss was here!”
“You aren't even sure of your words, Girl.” Freya sighed. “Stop making things worse.”
Unfortunately, there was nothing Violet could do.
She'd helplessly watched Clyde fire many servants in the past.
He never tolerated a single mistake.
Something as mundane as dropping a spoon accidentally would cause him to fire a servant talk more of this.
If Clyde was as scared as she was when the maid came with that news, just firing her might be termed a light punishment.
“M- Madam, I wasn't guessing… I- I was sure. Th- The Little Young Miss was here, I swear.” The maid kept on begging and wailing.
Honestly, Violet was beginning to feel pity for her.
Well, how was she gonna convince Clyde to take the maid back?
Seeing no reaction from her, the maid rose up, wiping her tears. “I just got this job, Madam. My father will kill me if the Butler sends me back.”
The Young girl turned and left, sobbing and wiping her tears.
Violet felt bad for her.
She couldn't help but wish she could do something about it.
“Aren't you gonna do something?” Freya scoffed. “You and your heartless ex-husband were being lovey-dovey moments ago. I'm sure he'll listen to you.”
Violet blushed, sensing the sarcasm in Freya's tone.
Clyde wasn't the kind of person that would listen to anybody.
Once he fired a servant, not even his parents could protest.
“Tsk! You surely have good taste in men, Vi.”
“Ah, quit it, Freya.” Violet held her hand and pouted. “Please don't be mad. Clyde and I-”
“Are back together.” Freya finished her words. “Doesn't matter. We've got to find Mimi.”
Sighing helplessly, Violet agreed.
Freya must be very very mad at her that she was avoiding the topic.
She moved, but something hit her feet. Violet didn't realize that she was barefoot until now that her feet stepped on a strand of beads.
The beads clattered, and she glanced down, furrowing her brows, not liking the sudden feeling of apprehension.
“Wait a minute!” Freya also saw the bracelet and squatted down to pick it up. “Heck! I don't think the maid was lying! Isn't this Mimi's bracelet!?”
O- Of course, it was!
Violet blinked rapidly, her heartbeat picking up.
She snatched the bracelet from Freya, accessing it anxiously.
After all, she'd picked out this custom bracelet for her baby specifically.
N-Not again!
Her baby wasn't in trouble, was she?
However, if Mimi had been here, where was she now!?
“Shit! We've got to find Clyde!” Freya grabbed her arm and they both hurried in the direction the man had taken.
They soon caught up with him in the mansion’s field,
But Clyde was surrounded by his parents and grandfather.
They seemed to be discussing something serious.
“How could that be? I only glanced away for a second, and she was gone!” Becca screamed. “And now they're telling me she's hospitalized!?”
“Where the hell have you been with her mother while that happened!?” Grandpa Luke hollered. “Grandson, why are you careless when it comes to your daughter?”
“Father, you can't blame only my son!” Becca defended. “Violet came inside this mansion and made a scene then she disappeared. She couldn't even keep an eye on the girl.”
“Guys, just relax,” Clyde’s father said,
But his wife cut him off. “Why should we relax? If anything happens to my granddaughter, many people will pay the price!”
Hospital?
What were they saying?
Violet staggered forward, grabbing Clyde's arm.
She opened her lips, but her speech was incoherent as she demanded an explanation from him.
“Calm down, she's now safe.” He hugged her. “Mimi's out of danger.”
Again?
It was true then.
Her baby had been in danger… again!!!
But who found her?
Who took her to the hospital?
Was she safe as Clyde had said?
“You this silly girl. You've finally decided to show up!” Stomping forward, Becca snatched her from Clyde’s arms.
And the next thing Violet could register was the hard sound of a slap and the burning pain on her left cheek.
“You can't even look after a little girl, why bother giving birth? What kind of a mother are you? If Cora hadn't found and saved her, would I have lost my granddaughter within the first hour we just met!?”
