Chapter 62 Their Hidden Relationship

Thinking she would meet her baby lying on the bed with bruises on her body, Violet's fear was replaced with shock.

Not only did Mimi look fine, but there weren't any signs of bruises on her.

She cheerfully painted Cora's face with the powder palette in her hand, giggling and throwing compliments at her.

Just like Violet, everyone else was confused.

“What the hell is going on here?” The first person to break the silence was Freya.

Her words dragged Mimi and Cora's attention to the door.

Mimi's eyes lit up immediately. “Mummy, Daddy, you're here!”

She put the makeup materials away, climbed down from the chair, and scurried towards them. “Aunt Cora was right. You'll show up to check on her.”

Violet exchanged glances with Clyde.

They were both confused.

Squatting to Mimi's height, they both held her shoulder.

“Are you hurt?”

“Are you alright, Baby?”

Mimi giggled. “Of course. I only accompanied Aunt Cora to the hospital because she lost a lot of blood. Aunt Cora was so pitiful and needed someone to cheer her up.”

Huh?

Violet's confusion only heightened.

Even Clyde’s parents, who had just walked in, looked confused.

“Weren't you chased by the dogs, Mimi?” Freya scratched her hair. “I thought-”

“Aunt Freya, what dogs are you talking about?” Tilting her head to the side, Mimi blinked innocently.

What's happening?

Violet rose to her feet, unable to grasp anything.

Didn't Mimi wander to that area?

How did her bracelet end up there?

But the maid had to be speaking the truth. Violet believed her.

Yet, her baby looked neither frightened nor were there any signs of bruises on her.

Something was definitely not right.

“Oh, Violet… that's so sweet of you.” From the bed, Cora smiled, touching the bandage on her forehead. “But seriously, you shouldn't have come. I know you didn't mean it and the perfume bottle only slipped from your hands.”

Violet narrowed her eyes.

What was Cora up to?

“What!?” Becca exclaimed. The woman was quick to grasp the situation. “You mean Violet hit you?”

“It's nothing, Aunt.” Cora shrugged. “I- I shouldn't have disturbed her. Violet was in a bad mood, and…” She sighed. “It's my fault, Aunt. Please don't hold it against her.”

“How can you say that?” Clyde’s father disagreed. “Hitting someone like this is a grave offense!”

Suddenly, everyone had forgotten what brought them here.

Their attention was now on Cora and her wound.

“I told you to take yourself to the hospital. Why did you bring Mimi along?” Clyde stared at her in displeasure,

But his words only incited his parents’ anger.

“So you were there when Violet wounded her and you did nothing about it!” Becca turned to him.

“Have you forgotten who Cora is in this family?” His father looked disappointed. “If you wouldn't get justice for her, you should have at least made Violet apologize.”

The fact that the couple was mad at their own son, too, was even more funny. All because of Cora, whose love in their hearts was second to the love they had for Clyde.

Shifting on the bed, Cora looked uncomfortable as she darted a fearful glance in Clyde's direction. “Aunt, Uncle, please don't blame him. Violet is already here to apologize-”

“Oh, really?” Violet couldn't take the shit anymore.

Cora's acting disgusted her, and the fact that the girl had to involve her baby in this drama irritated her more than anything.

She'd really underestimated her, seriously!

“You want an apology, right?” Folding her hands, she stepped forward and stood in front of her.

Cora's eyes glinted with mischief as she gave her a triumphant look.

Violet had no problem with wiping that smile off her face.

“Smack!”

The whole ward echoed with the sound of the hard slap.

Violet wished she'd inserted more force to knock some senses into the girl.

But slapping her once across the face wasn't enough. Violet was about to add more, but someone grabbed her arm.

“Are you crazy?” Clyde stared at her in disbelief, holding her hand firmly.

He gave her a look as if she'd lost her mind. As if she was committing the gravest sin.

Holding her cheek, Cora sobbed silently.

“Now I believe what the others are saying!” Becca exclaimed. “You have just been released from a mental facility, you filthy girl!”

“Violet, what nonsense was that!” Dave looked angry as well. “Instead of apologizing, why did you slap Cora?”

Freya appeared shocked as well, including Mimi who watched with teary eyes.

“Aunt Cora is so pitiful, Mummy… Please don't bully her!”

Violet was okay with anyone else misunderstanding her.

She didn't care if they got angry at her.

The only person's opinion she cared about was her baby's.

Kneeling in front of the girl, she patted her hair. “She's a meanie. Don't come near her again.”

“But, Mummy!” Mimi sniffled. “Aunt Cora loves me. She's kind to me”

“No-”

“Violet, that's enough!” Clyde snapped at her. His anger was evident from the way he stared at her darkly. “That's uncalled for. Apologize to Cora.”

Apologize to the girl who thought she could fool her?

Did Cora think that Violet wouldn't see through her trick?

She wasn't gonna apologize.

If she had the chance, she would beat her up to a pulp in fact.

“Clyde, please, no.” Cora left the bed. She all but hugged the man, sobbing in his arms. “D- Don't blame Violet for being mad at us. I- I know she has the right to!”

By saying that, Cora was implying that Violet was jealous of their relationship.

She was angry because she'd caught them together which implied that Cora had a hidden relationship with Clyde.

What a smart way to reveal the information to his parents.

No doubt, the couple were shocked as they exchanged glances. While Clyde appeared speechless and embarrassed.

“Son, what's going on?” Becca stuttered. “It's not what we're thinking, right?”

“Clyde Crawford, what the hell has happened between you and Cora that'll make your wife treat her like this!?” His father's expression was pale, his tone dripping with rage.
