Chapter 64 Fire Her

~

Was Cora too desperate that she could use a little child for her selfish whims?

Clyde didn't want to believe it, but the truth was right in front of him.

And he’d wrongly blamed Violet, almost thinking for a second there that Cora was the most pitiful girl.

Who the hell did she think she could fool?

He watched Violet's figure disappear inside the elevator with their daughter.

Her cold treatment was unsettling.

The more Violet acted like this, as if she didn't give a damn about his feelings, the more wary he found himself becoming.

Her sudden change wasn't only scary, it would turn into something chaotic if care wasn't taken.

Never had he thought Violet would have the guts to talk back at his mother.

Did he make a mistake by not standing up for her?

But Violet didn't seem to be bothered about that. Seriously, she confused him.

Clyde stood up, releasing his clenched fists.

He could go after Violet and be with her and his daughter… well, he had to take care of something first.

He must bring an end to Cora's madness before she harmed many people.

He strode back to the wall, almost bumping into his parents who were on their way out.

“Where is that crazy girl? Where did she go with my granddaughter?” His mother asked.

“You have to stay with Cora for the night,” His father added. “Also control your wife, Clyde! We can't have her spoiling the strong relationship we have with Cora's parents.”

The couple left. Despite their angry words, they looked somehow relieved.

What would have been their reaction if Cora had gotten what she wanted?

Clyde entered the ward.

She must have heard his father's orders as she left the bed and sauntered towards him.

“You can't disobey your father.” She threw her arms around him. “You'll stay with me tonight. Honey-”

Clyde pushed her away.

He didn't care that her back hit the wall or she fell on the floor.

His daughter must have gone through worse.

An emotional trauma was more deadly than a physical one.

Clyde couldn't imagine the kind of fear Mimi had felt while the dogs barked at her.

So that maid had been saying the truth!

“Cora Reid, stay away from my family,” he warned. “Corrupting my child will be your biggest mistake.”

“Your child?” Cora stared at him through teary eyes. “Are you sure she is even your child? Clyde, what do you know?”

Clyde gave her a hard look.

She was lucky to be in this condition and she was a girl.

He wouldn't have spared anyone who told him these words.

“Honey-”

“Say that name again and I'll cut your tongue.” He gritted out. “You're not worthy. If I knew you were crazy-”

Cora got up from the floor. She threw herself at him once more, halting his words. “Will you end our relationship so brutally? It's not fair!”

“Have we ever been in a relationship?” Clyde peeled her off his body. “I won't warn you again. Leave my family alone!”

He said the most heartless words.

Didn't he know how much it hurt?

Cora never thought her plan would backfire!

She should have thrown that girl to the dogs!

She should have made sure they ate her alive!

Then maybe his blindness would be cured. Violet was truly a worthy opponent.

Rubbing her cheek, Cora sobbed as she watched him leave.

If only he'd admitted it to his parents. If only her wish had come true,

Then it would be a different story from now on.

“I swear I won't give up, Clyde.” She rushed forward and hugged his back before he stepped out of the door. “It's either you kill me or we end up together!”

“You're crazy!” He pushed her away.

Cora saw it coming. Yet, she didn't expect his actions to hurt so deeply as always.

It was almost as if she was bound to forget the pain instantly. Because no matter how much he hurt her, she ended up going back.

“You're fired as my secretary,” He added the words she least expected. “Don't come to the company anymore.”

Cora gasped.

She reached out to hold him. She stumbled and stuttered,

But he was gone.

Clyde mustn't mean it.

He wouldn't fire her just like that.

Was it because of his bastard child? Was it because of Violet?

Sitting on the floor, Cora laughed amidst her sobs.

She tore the bandage off her forehead, letting the blood stain her hospital gown.

So what if he fired her?

It wasn't like she was gonna leave!

He could fire her as many times as he pleased! She was never going back on her promise!

“Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! What a pity!” Footstep sounds stopped in front of her, accompanied by a deep voice that almost resembled Clyde's.

Wiping her tears quickly, Cora glanced up. “What do you want?”

“Ouch! That hurts!” He held his chest, putting on a dramatic pained expression. “If you keep staring like that, I might fall and die, Babe.”

Cora scoffed.

“Don't tell me you're crying over my dear nephew.” He squatted in front of her and held her chin. “Now that's wrong. I thought you were stronger than this.”

“Just find a way for me to return to CJ Group.” Cora glared at him. “Clyde just fired me, and there's no way we're both gonna get what we want.”

“Well, that's a piece of cake.” The man shrugged, his lips curling into a menacing smile. “But you know the price.”

Cora nodded.

Since she had set her mind on this, of course, no price was too small.

She stood up with his help and wiped the blood off her face. “Where?”

“My home, of course.” He chuckled deeply. “It's a better place than this hospital. You'll recover faster.”

Right!

What the hell was she doing in the hospital, anyway?

“When will you do it?”

“I'm just waiting for the right moment.” He glanced at his wristwatch. “Let's say, you'll have to make my dream come true first.”

Urgh!

How she hated waiting!
