Chapter 69 Get Married

No way!

Did she step into a thorn?

Did Freya fall into a drainage, or was the fence so high from the ground that she broke her leg?

Those negative thoughts bombarded Violet's senses at once.

She trembled in one spot, lost at what to do.

She couldn't just stand here though.

Freya's screams would have alerted the bodyguards who were probably on their way right now.

So she quickly climbed onto the fence to check out what was happening.

The fence wasn't too high from the ground. Her best friend didn't break her leg either.

She just happened to jump when someone was passing by.

It was too late for Violet to hide because that person had seen her too.

“Urgh, Vi! I told you to wait!” Freya sighed.

“I heard you scream.” Violet jumped down anyway.

She stared at the intruder who looked at her, and then Freya.

His smile was so charming. He almost seemed familiar.

“Well, he won't be our problem.” Freya shrugged and grabbed the guy's collar. “Hey, flower boy, don't tell anyone you saw us, or you'll say bye-bye to your job.”

“Ah, I won't!” The guy raised his hands in the air. “I've been looking for you in fact. You promised to-”

“Yeah, we'll talk later.” Freya cut him off, shoving him out of the way as if running from what the guy wanted to say.

Now Violet was curious.

Did they know each other?

“The name’s Harry,” The guy called out. “You can find me in…”

His words faded in the air as Freya quickly stopped a taxi and they hopped inside.

“Melody Cafe, please…” She said to the driver while putting on her seatbelt. “I've texted Ash the location, Vi. He might arrive before us.”

Violet nodded.

“How do you plan to tell him by the way?” Freya asked. “Poor Ash. What if he can't handle it?”

Violet sighed.

Whether Asher could handle it or not, he had the right to know.

Besides,

“Don't try to distract me. Who's that guy?” She gave Freya a pointed look.

Freya rarely got anxious, but she couldn't wait to get away from that guy.

“Urgh, he's just a waiter I met last night. He works in the mansion’s kitchen.”

Such a handsome guy working as a servant.

Violet found it hard to believe.

“Did you two-”

“Let's focus on your problem, Vi. Forget about the wine guy,” Freya whined.

Violet knew better not to inquire further, even though Freya's reaction had just piqued her curiosity.

Glancing at her wristwatch, she tapped her feet anxiously, her heart drumming against her chest.

Asher not giving her a call must mean that he was angry with her.

Well, he had the right to.

She left without even a goodbye. ‘Who does that?’

Melody Cafe was a thirty-minute ride from the mansion.

When they got there, the sun had already come out.

“It's better if you guys discuss it alone,” Freya suggested. “I'll wait at another table. Good luck, Vi.”

Right!

Violet needed a lot of luck.

They stepped into the coffee shop and she glanced across the tables.

Asher wasn't here yet.

Didn't he get the location right?

Suddenly, her vision darkened as someone covered her eyes. “Looking for me?”

Asher’s smooth voice, light and filled with laughter, sounded in her ears.

Violet froze, her heartbeat almost stopping.

She swallowed a huge gulp of saliva and turned around to be met with his gentle smile.

“You have no idea how much I've missed you.” Asher pulled her into his embrace, hugging her tightly.

Violet couldn't breathe.

It wasn't because he was hugging her too tightly, but because of her anxiousness.

She couldn't even return his hug until he pulled away.

“Are you alright?” The next thing he did was take her hand and stroke the ring on her finger. “You look a bit pale.”

Violet pulled herself together.

Struggling to put on a smile, she sat down at the table near them, and he also sat across from her.

“I- I'm fine.” Yet, her voice betrayed her.

Clearing her throat, she picked up the steaming hot coffee served by one of the staff.

“A- Actually, Ash…” She went on after a few seconds. “I apologize for leaving without-”

“I understand.” He interrupted, giving her a warm look.

Was he not mad at her?

That was strange.

“I also want to apologize for what I did.” He put on a regretful look. “Freya told me Mimi's condition was quite worse, yet, I denied you from taking her to the hospital.”

Oh…

Violet had almost forgotten about that.

The truth was that she'd been mad at him that day.

She was angry that he asked the bodyguards not to let them out.

“I was being overprotective,” He added. “I'm sorry about that. How's Mimi?”

“She's fine.” Smiling, Violet loosened up.

She never thought she needed his apology.

She'd never expected him to apologize.

“Freya told me something…” Suddenly, his calm expression turned sullen. “Is it necessary, Violet?”

Unable to stare into his eyes, Violet looked down.

It was very necessary if she wanted Clyde out of her life for good.

“He hasn't signed the divorce yet. I saw it with my own eyes.”

“And that makes our relationship a taboo…” Asher completed her words. “Everyone makes mistakes. It's meaningless to be mad at you.”

Reaching forward, he squeezed her hand gently. “Just promise me that after this comes to an end, you'll return to me.”

For the first time ever, his words touched a soft spot in her heart.

Asher's affection was real. His love for her was genuine.

Staring at him, Violet could see nothing but genuine care in his eyes.

“Will you return to me, Violet?” He stroked her hair. “Just give me the assurance.”

An uneasy feeling rose in her chest.

Violet pushed it aside.

She nodded to his question.

Who else was she gonna return to if not him?

“Once he puts his signature on the divorce, let's get married,” Asher proposed. “I can no longer wait, Vi.”
