Chapter 70 Being A Handful
…
At The Crawford Mansion.
It had been hours already. She didn't even show up for lunch.
Was she still mad at him?
Where was she?
As Clyde sat on a couch inside the study room with a tablet in his hands, he would glance at his wristwatch now and then.
He'd considered giving Violet some space for her anger to go away,
But now, he was beginning to worry.
He hadn't seen her again ever since she left the room in the morning.
She wouldn't go to his parents’ quarters either.
Was she with Grandpa Luke?
Unable to pay attention to the article he was reading, Clyde dropped the tablet.
He couldn't give in to her request.
She had a valid reason for demanding they move to the Villa,
But Clyde wouldn't take any chances.
His grandfather was extremely pleased that he'd decided to live here with his family.
If he suddenly moved out, wouldn't it anger the old man?
Besides, there was a high chance that his grandfather wouldn't agree.
His parents wouldn't agree either, especially his mother who demanded that she would raise her granddaughter.
“Daddy- Daddy, have you seen Mummy?” The little girl barged in.
Her hands were stained with a white substance, and her face was covered with the same white thing.
Clyde narrowed his eyes.
Before he could stop her, Mimi had already climbed onto the couch, staining his shirt as she tried to peek at the tablet. “What are you looking at, Daddy?”
“Some articles,” Clyde replied, bringing out a hankie to wipe off the stain.
It didn't come off.
What in the world was that substance?
“Uh. Have you seen my Mummy, Daddy?” Mimi looked up before he could ask. “I searched everywhere for Mummy, but she's gone. Ava told me she didn't see Mummy either.”
“She didn't go very far,” Clyde replied, wiping her hands with the hankie.
The white substance didn't come off her skin either.
Weird.
Where had she been playing?
“Where did you get this, Baby?” He asked, trying harder to wipe it off.
It didn't smell like paint either. What kind of a chemical was it?
“Oh, Ava let me search through her box. I found this inside and she told me it's for makeup.”
Ava.
That maid he just pardoned?
Clyde frowned, his irritation taking over. “Why did you go to her room?”
“I was bored, Daddy. And Ava told me Mummy said she should look after me.” Mimi pouted. “I begged Ava to let me have a look. Please don't scold her!”
How could he scold that clumsy maid when she'd already won his wife's and daughter’s hearts?
“Let's get you washed up.” He rose to his feet and picked her up.
Clyde was on his way out of the study room and the maid almost crashed into him.
“Ah, Little Young Miss, I told you to wait until we remove it. Y- You're so fast!” The maid stuttered, holding a small bottle in her hand.
What could be inside it?
Was it another chemical?
Clyde threw her a secret glare. “What did you put on Mimi's face?”
“I- I didn't put it, Young Master,” She replied. “It's- It's a make-up foundation, b-but I can use this to remove it.”
“Didn't you say I look beautiful? I don't wanna remove it.” Mimi pursed her lips.
Well, she had to remove it.
But Clyde wasn't gonna let the maid use that chemical on her.
Signaling the maid to leave, he washed it off in the nearby washroom.
“Ow, Daddy… Your shirt looks bad.” Mimi pointed out.
And Clyde had to change into something else.
He just wanted to relax in the study room, but Violet’s thoughts wouldn't let him. And now, Mimi was being a handful.
Clyde returned to their bedroom, expecting to find Violet there, hoping she was back.
Well, the place was empty.
He even checked the closet and bathroom, but she wasn't there.
Did she perhaps leave the mansion?
Probably not!
Violet would never part with Mimi even for a second.
Clyde changed into a new shirt and came outside to find Mimi gone.
He couldn't be bothered about looking for her, except for the fact that his mind wasn't at ease.
His daughter seemed to be a trouble magnet.
If she didn't come back with more chemicals spread all over her face, a maid might come running to tell him that something bad happened… just like last night.
“Young Master- Young Master!” The same maid was back, running in his direction.
Clyde’s heart skipped immediately. Speak about the devil.
His fear hadn't come true, right?
“The Little Young Miss wants to play in the water fountain, but I told her it's dangerous. She's throwing a tantrum, Young Master.”
Clyde wiped his face.
He followed the maid to find Mimi already inside the water.
She kept on chanting it was raining, clapping and splattering water all over the place.
“That's dangerous and unhygienic.” Clyde removed her from the pond. His clothes got wet in the process.
How was Violet able to handle such an energetic kid?
Despite her health condition, she appeared very active for her age.
“When will Mummy return, Daddy?” She tugged at his shirt. “I miss Mummy a lot!”
Honestly, Clyde prayed Violet would return immediately.
His worry increased and the idea of sending out a search party to look for her began cooking up.
He went back inside and had to change into a new set of clothes while the maid took Mimi away to get her changed.
On his way back to the study room, Clyde shut his eyes, praying the maid wouldn't appear again.
“Young Master- Young Master, the Little Young Miss has fallen into the swimming pool.”
His heart stopped beating hearing that.
Clyde almost couldn't react until he noticed that the voice belonged to a man.
The most annoying voice.
“Ha! How come you've become pale all of a sudden?” Harry laughed. “Having kids must surely be a blessing.”
“What are you still doing here?” Clyde walked past him and entered the study room.
Harry followed him inside. “I just happened to promise someone I'll exchange contacts with her.”
He sat beside him with a foolish smile on his face.
Clyde shook his head. The guy was truly a goner. “Interested in one of the maids?”
“Nah!” Harry chuckled. “It's some hot babe I met last night. By the way, I caught her jumping off the fence with your wife.”
