Chapter 71 Ran Away

They jumped off the fence!

Clyde was about to pick up his tablet when that word halted him.

He glanced at the guy.

Harry didn't seem to be pulling his legs.

So Violet escaped.

She was going to return, right?

She wasn't gonna back out of her promise.

Why the hell did she jump off the fence when the gates were wide enough for twenty more persons like her to pass through?

What if she never came back?

Well, Violet would never leave Mimi behind,

But!

“Your wife is quite interesting.” Harry continued, unaware of the turmoil in his heart. “She made such a dramatic entrance last night. If I knew she was so enterprising, I wouldn't have wasted those many years outside the country. Ah, I wonder how fun your wedding was.”

His wedding wasn't any fun.

Violet preferred it low-key.

Except for the family members and close business allies, not even the media was invited.

The Violet from five years ago was a completely different character from the current Violet.

His wife wouldn't skip from a single stair talk more of jumping off a fence.

Clyde stood up and paced the space of the study room.

He wasn't even sure if she would return.

Maybe Violet changed her mind.

“When did you see them?” He turned to Harry who laughed.

“What's going on, Dude? Don't tell me she ran away.”

That was Clyde's biggest fear. “Just tell me when you saw them.”

“At noon,” Harry replied. “The beautiful morning sun had just come out. I was admiring it outside when two ladies, more beautiful than the scenery, interrupted…”

As Harry went on with a dreamy look on his face, Clyde was no longer listening to him.

They left since morning.

That meant Violet left immediately after their argument,

Damnit!

Clyde ran a finger through his hair, frustrated. He picked up his phone, the idea of dialing her number suddenly occurring to him.

She didn't answer it.

The phone rang until he got tired of dialing.

No way. Violet wouldn't leave him just like that. She wouldn't back out of her promise.

But he wasn't also certain.

Clyde dialed the head of security instead. “Mrs. Crawford left home since morning. Take the bodyguards and find her!”

He shoved the phone into his pocket and strode out of the study room.

Harry hurried after him. “What's wrong, Dude?”

Everything was wrong!

If Violet escaped for real, then things would be bad.

“Young Master, the Old Master has asked me to summon you immediately.” A servant came out of nowhere, saying that dreadful information. “He said you should come together with the Young Miss.”

Right now?

Clyde’s fear was slowly becoming true.

He contemplated whether to go or not. Yet, he couldn't go without Violet.

But, Grandpa Luke might come looking for them if they didn't show up, and the old man might detect something was wrong.

“Harry, bring her to Grandpa's quarters the moment the bodyguards arrive with her. I'll see him first.”

Harry nodded.

Having understood the seriousness of the situation, his expression wasn't that calm anymore. “What's going on between you and your wife, Buddy?”

Clyde would have to answer that later.

Right now, he had to meet Grandpa before the old man sent more people to summon them.

He left Harry's question unanswered and changed directions, heading to Grandpa Luke's quarters.

He met the old man waiting at the door.

His grandfather must have something really important to tell them.

“Where's Violet, Grandson? I said you should come together.” The old man frowned a bit.

Clyde stopped in front of him, taking in a deep breath. “Violet is busy, Grandpa.”

“Well…” Grandpa Luke's frown deepened. “She's not that busy to answer my summon. Go get her here immediately. By the way, I heard your mother bullied her in the morning with a hundred lashes. Is that true?”

Clyde shook his head. “It's just rumors.”

Besides, his Mum didn't give her a hundred lashes, so it was partly a lie.

“Are you sure you're not covering up for your mother?” The old man gave him a pointed look. “Let me tell you one thing: never let anyone bully your wife, even if it's your parents. You are each other's forever companion. I still wish to be with my late wife in heaven so we can continue our romance.”

Clyde had made sure that wouldn't repeat itself.

Hopefully, his mother would grant his request to stop bullying Violet.

“I'll be waiting here for you guys.” Grandpa Luke waived him off. “Bring my granddaughter-in-law first and we can discuss.”

Hopefully, the bodyguards had found her.

But this city was so huge and vast. Finding Violet would require a lot of luck.

How could she leave without at least informing him of her whereabouts, except if she truly planned to run away?

Clyde joined Harry at the gates who had followed his instruction and was waiting for their arrival.

However, the bodyguards hadn't shown up with her yet.

The sun had long gone down, and the sky was getting darker with each minute.

The more the time passed by, the more Clyde's anticipation grew.

He kept on communicating with the head of security, who continued relaying bad news.

“Do you think they got kidnapped?” Harry assumed.

Well, that was impossible.

Not a lot of people knew what Violet looked like.

Funny enough, she didn't like mingling with many people.

Even while they were still together, she rarely followed him to public places.

“The kidnappers would be seeking death,” Clyde replied.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours.

They remained outside the gates, waiting for good news from the bodyguards.

But with each minute that passed by, Clyde gradually lost hope.

This moment reminded him of five years ago when she ran away.

He had sent out search parties the same way. Yet, they found no traces of her.

“Checked the airports and the seaports,” he said to the head of security finally. “Get the information of all the passengers.”

“Dude, this is getting serious.” Harry only looked more confused. “Did she run away? Why did you assume that?”

Well, there were a lot of reasons why.

Clyde wanted to speak but a taxi suddenly pulled over ahead of them.

The taxi driver came out and opened the backseat door, and then he pulled out two ladies who looked wasted and out of their minds.
