Chapter 78 Two-faced Liar
Hearing that statement coming from him, Violet almost laughed out loud.
Why did he look displeased by the gift his mistress just bought?
“Yay, Daddy! You're the best!” Mimi let go of her and hurried to the man, hugging his leg tightly.
“Where’s Grandma?” Clyde picked her up.
He looked so happy and carefree as he spoke with her. “I bet you're having a great time with her.”
“Grandma treats me well.” Mimi bobbed her head happily. “Grandma bought me a tablet and she promised to take me shopping later.”
“Daddy, will you and Mummy come along?” Mimi added. “Grandma said there’s a huge mall that sells luxury things.”
“If course, we'll go with you.”
“I'm so sorry, Baby… Mummy's quite busy today.”
They both said concurrently.
Violet glanced at Clyde who stared at her in confusion.
Seriously, she hated looking at his face.
“It's okay, Mummy…” Mimi pursed her lips. “I'll miss you a lot, but Grandma and Daddy will be there with me.”
Violet stood up with a sigh.
She hated to see her baby being sad,
But she wasn't even herself at the moment.
Upon finding out that her baby was alright after Cora's visit, she couldn't remain here.
So she bid Mimi goodbye and left.
Violet returned to their quarters and sighed in relief, seeing that the maid had packed those gifts away.
Standing on the balcony, she brought out her phone and scrolled through her contacts list.
Contrary to her assumption, Asher had told her yesterday that he'd been dialing her number which was unreachable.
He almost had the crazy idea that she had blocked him.
Well, Violet didn't.
But checking it now, she noticed that Asher's contact had indeed been blocked.
Who the hell did that?
“What are you busy with?” Clyde’s voice sounded in the room, his footsteps approaching her on the balcony.
Violet paused.
She shut her eyes, praying he wouldn't come any closer.
“Mimi will feel safer when you accompany her. It's not like Mum's gonna bully you in public. You know how much she cares about her image.”
She just wanted him to leave.
Violet only wanted him to disappear before she lost it.
“Sweetheart-”
“Do we know each other, Mr. Crawford?” She gritted out, gripping the phone in her hand.
His footsteps halted for a few seconds.
Then he suddenly hugged her from behind.
Violet seriously wished he didn't do that.
“What's with that tone?” He nibbled on her ear. “Who got on your bad side, Honey?”
Damnit!
All hell broke loose and Violet couldn't keep it in.
She wasn't gonna let him treat her like this as if she was a fool.
She spun around and slapped him hard across the face.
“Keep your hands to yourself, Clyde! Nobody will scold you even if you don't pretend! You're the mighty Clyde Crawford after all!” She screamed and pushed him out of her way.
Without waiting for his reaction, she stormed out of the place.
Violet wiped her tears furiously.
She was damned crying again. Yet, the way he touched her and those sweet words he whispered in her ears disgusted her.
Who the hell did he take her for?
What exactly did he want from her?
She found herself going back to the mansion’s field.
As that place was more silent with servants rarely passing through there, Violet could do with some solitude.
Freya and that guy were gone, and she sat on the swing, contemplating her decisions.
Why did he love torturing her?
Did he beg her to come back only because of his grandfather's health?
Wasn't it because he wanted to turn her life into a mess?
Clyde definitely held a grudge against her for running away five years ago, leaving the divorce papers behind.
That must have damaged his pride so much that he wanted revenge.
“Violet! Thank goodness I found you!” Freya suddenly sat beside her. “By the way, I have good news to share with you.”
Totally unaware of the gloom surrounding her, Freya went on speaking happily. “Can you believe that poor waiter guy approached me? He told me he was okay with what happened, but I had to take responsibility.”
“Now I'm stuck with having to date a servant from the Crawford Household. Isn't that ridiculous? Well, he's a sweet guy, and the catch is I'm no longer going to jail!”
Well, that was a win for her friend.
Violet could sense that Freya liked that guy.
She rarely got anxious in men's presence.
“He's just a casual fling though.” Freya chuckled. “Once your agreement is over with your heartless ex-husband, I guess I'll have to bid him goodbye. But damn, he's so good! Maybe I should employ him as my bodyguard.”
Violet leaned her head on Freya's shoulder, sighing heavily.
As Freya spoke on, her mind was completely on something.
Funny how she couldn't stop thinking about last night.
If she hadn't gone to the bar, she wouldn't have gotten drunk.
And if she hadn't gotten drunk, that wouldn't have happened.
Violet had her best friend to blame for going to that bar. She would never repeat the same mistake.
“Vi, are you even listening to me?” Freya stared at her. “Are you alright? What's bothering you?”
“Nothing.” Violet shook her head.
Saying it was useless.
It wasn't like anyone could do anything about it.
She already knew that Clyde was a two-faced liar and a cheat, yet she agreed to be a couple again.
She should be prepared to witness his infidelity, right?
“How can you say nothing?” Freya put on a frown. “Wait a minute, lemme guess. I saw that bitch leaving the mansion, looking unkept and out of her mind. Don't tell me she's the cause of your gloom. Did you two get into a fight?”
Violet knew the bitch Freya was referring to.
If only she'd gotten into a fight with Cora.
She wanted to respond to Freya's question, but a tall figure suddenly towered over them.
Clyde strode in their direction and he grabbed her hand. “Follow me, Violet. We need to talk.”
