Chapter 79 Her Happiness

“Why should I follow you, Mr. Crawford!” She looked at him as if she'd murder him with her eyes.

Despite him holding her hand, she didn't budge.

Clyde wondered what was going on.

Why she'd changed so fast.

He could still feel the burning pain of the slap.

He couldn't get over the shock and his worries only increased.

“Violet-”

“Just leave me alone!” She screamed. “I'm already here, right? I'm not going anywhere, so let me breathe!”

Clyde didn't see her outburst coming.

She appeared oddly irritated ever since he met her at his parents’ quarters with Mimi.

Did he do anything wrong without knowing?

Did he say something wrong?

“Violet-”

She snatched her hand off and stood up.

Violet gave him a last glare then she grabbed her friend’s hand and they walked away.

Clyde watched their backs, his worry transforming into frustration.

If she kept treating him like this, how was he ever gonna have peace?

Was she still doubting him?

He thought she'd let everything go since last night.

Last night had been a bliss, and he wished every night would be the same henceforth.

Was that even possible when Violet was acting like this?

“Tsk! Women are a pain in the butt, aren't they?” The voice full of mockery sounded behind him.

“It's much better to stay safe and remain unmarried.” The man stopped in front of him. “But your wife is quite enterprising, isn't it?”

Clyde frowned. “Nobody asked for your opinion.”

“Ha!” The man laughed. “It just happens that my opinions are always the best. You need a breath of fresh air, Dear Nephew. What if you can take a break from this crazy life for at least a day?”

Standing here and bickering with the man was the same as wasting the precious seconds of his life.

Clyde ignored him and made to walk past,

But what he said next made him halt.

“How about we switch lives for a day? People can hardly tell us apart. What a coincidence, Ha! We're also wearing matching outfits today!”

Clyde clenched his fists.

He could ignore the man, but he knew how crazy he could get. “Keep your silly thoughts to yourself, Herman.”

“Oh, It's not Uncle anymore?” Herman smirked. “I just want to have a taste of your wife. I'm quite curious about married ladies-”

Clyde punched him in the face before he finished speaking.

Damnit!

He could break his bones to pieces.

“Say those dirty words again-”

“Are you gonna report me to your dear grandfather?” Herman rolled his eyes, not minding the punch. “That's so lame.”

“Why should I when I can throw you to the beasts?” Clyde replied.

“But you won't do that because you'll be so busy with buttering the old man up,” Herman snickered. “I hope he gives you what you want at the end of the day. Heard you've stopped chasing after those collaborations. Aren't you interested in becoming the chairman anymore?”

“Oh, lemme guess…” He went on. “You're so occupied with your family. What a pity.”

Herman turned to leave, laughing harder before he did so. “Let's see if your wife can resist me, Dear Nephew.”

“Oh, she's not into mad men.”

“Hehe! We shall see.” He sauntered away, dropping both hands in his pockets.

Clyde wouldn't think much into the man's words.

Violet was not that kind of person.

And any day he tried to touch his wife- God helped him!

He was going to make him disappear from the face of the earth!

“Damn, I hate your Uncle.” Harry appeared from nowhere, looking irritated. “Did he get on your nerves too, Buddy?”

Clyde wasn't an idiot to let that crazy man get on his nerves.

He had more important things to focus on.

“Shit! I wish he wasn't from this family! Would have taught him a lesson for seducing my ex-girlfriend. That crazy girl doesn't know what she's in for.”

Clyde walked away.

He'd better go and get ready for the outing with Mimi and his Mum.

Violet appeared adamant about not going. He wasn't gonna force her.

“He's riling up all the girls in the circle, turning them into harlots.” Harry followed him. “We've got to do something about him!”

Clyde couldn't care less about his Uncle's wayward lifestyle.

He didn't want to discuss him in fact.

“What are you still doing here?”

Harry had been here for three days straight. It was beginning to look strange.

“Ha! I have a tiny assignment. I guess I'll be staying for a few days.”

“What assignment?” Clyde paused.

Harry hardly stayed in one place for more than three days.

He wasn't up to anything mischievous, was he?

“Don't give me that look. Can't a man enjoy his life?”

His words only confirmed Clyde's assumption.

He shook his head. “I hope she knows what she's in for.”

“Nah, it won't get to that, Bro!” Harry winked. “She's just a casual fling. Her life is safe.”

“What if it's not?” Clyde frowned.

He honestly didn't have a good feeling about this.

“It's her choice to be with me. I can't help it.” Harry shrugged. “It's not a biggie, is it?”

Well, it was.

She was Violet's best friend.

Endangering her life would in no doubt make Violet worry.

“Chillax, Dude.” Harry slapped his shoulder. “I won't be a fool twice. Never gonna fall for any girl. She's not my type, anyway.”

“I hope she hears that.” Clyde scoffed.

Hadn't Harry said the same thing two years ago?

Clyde wasn't only worried about Violet’s friend but also the dumb guy standing in front of him.

He almost died for goodness sake!

Was he tired of his life?

“I have to say that she's quite interesting, though,” Harry added, but then, he shrugged. “Well, it's gonna pass. Besides, she thinks I'm a servant. Nobody's gonna get harmed, I promise.”

Clyde nodded. “Just be careful. If the same thing happens, I'll kill you myself.”

He valued Violet's happiness more than anything else.

Any threat to it would definitely incur his wrath.
