Chapter 81 Her Intentions

At CJ Group.

Clyde sat across his desk, staring at the same document on the computer’s screen for hours.

The words weren't written in a foreign language.

They were basic and simple, with the document explaining the collaboration terms between the CJ Group and a construction company.

Yet, he couldn't understand anything.

The more he tried to grasp the meanings, the more his attention swayed.

Clyde finally gave up.

He closed the document and supported his forehead with both hands, his mind wandering to the source of his distraction.

It had been three days already.

She neither spoke with him nor paid him attention.

She was literally running from him.

Could he continue living this way?

How was Clyde gonna get his wish fulfilled if they kept on living like this?

Violet was probably mad at him due to what happened when she was drunk.

Well, he didn't make any advances at her, and she'd been the one who jumped at him first.

Yet, he had a feeling that her anger was due to something else.

What exactly was that?

He'd asked her several times but got no reply. Maybe she just loved being mad at him.

“Sir, can you hear me, Sir?”

Looking up, Clyde found a secretary standing in front of him, waving her hand.

He frowned a bit. “What do you want?”

If it wasn't for the tag on her jacket, he wouldn't have identified her as one of his secretaries.

He rarely walked through the secretary area or interacted with them. He could hardly tell their names.

“Uhm, I'm Lisa…” The secretary tucked a stray strand behind her ear, her fingers trembling a bit as she extended a document to him. “I- I'll be replacing Ms. Reid as your personal secretary.”

Clyde took the document containing her information.

He'd asked his assistant to pick out a new secretary for him.

Lisa wasn't a bad choice.

Reading through her biography and educational qualifications, he believed she would do a good job,

Even more competent than Cora.

“Get me a cup of coffee.”

“Right away, Sir!” She smiled and walked away.

Clyde tried to read through the document again.

He turned on the computer and the agreement popped up.

Still, he couldn't concentrate. Strange that every word was turning into the spelling of her name.

Violet.

“Here's your coffee, Sir.” Lisa returned with a steaming cup of coffee.

Clyde tasted it.

“Good.” He nodded in approval.

“Thank you.” She giggled. “If you don't mind, may I be making your coffee every day, Sir?”

Clyde glanced at her.

He dropped the cup of coffee. “No need.”

Her expression turned sullen… Well, he didn't care.

He rarely let women into his proximity.

It was either they were after his money, or trying to crawl into his bed. What difference did it make?

“Sir, I'm not that kind of girl.” Probably understanding his thoughts, she looked offended. “I know you have a wife and a daughter. Besides, you're out of my league.”

Clyde raised a brow.

“Don't worry, I'll keep things professional…” She murmured. “I'm only after fulfilling my dreams, Sir.”

Well, that was impressive.

One of the few women that didn't have hidden intentions.

From the looks of it, he could trust her.

“By the way, Ms. Reid has warned us all to stay out of your sight. She promised she'd make us lose our jobs by using her family's influence in this company.”

Cora did that?

Clyde couldn't believe she'd made a fool of herself that way.

Did she think she owned him or what?

“That's what I said, and that's what I'll do…” Without knocking, the lady in discussion pushed the door open and sauntered inside.

Unlike the OL suites she wore to the company, Cora was dressed in a wine-colored dress that hugged her figure from the bodice down to her knees.

Her heavy makeup made her almost unrecognizable, and the red lipstick made her look more like a blood-sucking witch.

Clyde narrowed his eyes, irritation kicking in at the sight of her.

She stopped walking right in front of his desk and faced the new secretary. “Lisa Bryant. You talk too much.”

The new secretary took a step back, her face turning pale. “Ms. Reid, I- I didn't mean it-”

“Oh, really?” Cora brought out her phone. Raising it in the air, she played an audio.

Instantly, the voices of two girls’ conversing sounded in the office.

“Men like the President are hard to get through. I bet you'll lose this bet!”

“Ha! You don't know me, do you? My greatest talent is breaking through the walls of men. I know how to handle cold men like him.”

“You only have a week to crawl into his bed.”

“And oh, I'm gonna make sure he plants his seed inside me. I'm gonna keep the baby and will soon become your Lady Boss.”

“Break a leg!”

Their laughter followed, echoing in the background.

Clyde's vision darkened immediately.

Greedy liars!

Good thing he never underestimated women.

“You're fired!” He didn't glance at the girl or pay attention to her body's trembling from head to toe.

Returning his eyes to the computer screen, Clyde scrolled down the document with the mouse.

“S-Sir-” She squeaked. “I- I… I can explain.”

“Get out!” Cora slapped her across the face. She grabbed her hair and pulled her out. “Dirty girls like you only belong to the goons of the street. Never show your face in this company!”

Clyde chuckled.

As Cora returned, he looked up. “Why did you show your face?”

She pouted, staring at the floor and fiddling with her fingers. “Haven't you realized by now that I'm the only woman you need? I just saved you from that filthy girl.”

“You're all the same.” Clyde swiveled his chair around, staring at the floor-to-ceiling window instead.

The view was much better now.

“You're right. We're all the same, in the sense that we're all women.” Cora circled his desk and came to stand behind him. “But I'm different from them, Clyde… you know me.”

Clyde caught her hands as she tried to place them on his chest.

Spinning around, he grabbed her neck. “You endangered my daughter's life and tried to trick my parents. I know who you are.”
