Chapter 86 Seek Her Forgiveness
…
At IvoryHills City. Crawford Mansion.
Violet winced, shutting her eyes as his strong palm rubbed her back gently.
The cooling sensation from the ointment seeped into her bones, leaving a burning feeling on her skin.
She couldn't handle it.
It was pleasure and torture at the same time.
Violet just wanted him to stop, but the heartless man wouldn't leave her alone.
“I'll be done in a minute. Hold on,” He said softly, pulling her hair sideways as his palms traveled up to the back of her neck.
That place was even more sore.
Biting her lips hard, she endured the pain.
“Can't you just get the servants!?” She hissed as he rubbed the ointment on her arm.
However, the man sighed. “I'll be gentle. We don't need the servants.”
Right!
To protect his mother's image, no servants were allowed to attend to her.
If any servants saw her like this, rumors would circulate that Becca had turned into a monster,
Which she actually was.
For three days straight, Violet hadn't been able to leave the bed.
It was one of the most agonizing experiences in her life.
She couldn't eat until he helped her.
She couldn't even take a bath on her own.
“I'm sorry, Violet.”
She'd lost count of the number of times he'd said those words.
Sorry?
Would saying sorry heal her immediately?
Would it turn back the time and stop his mother from bullying her?
Would saying sorry actually fulfill her desire for vengeance?
Violet rolled her eyes despite knowing that he couldn't read her expression. Her bare back was facing him while she lay on her stomach.
“I promise she won't repeat that…” Clyde went on. “I've taken care of it.”
Violet scoffed.
How many times had he told her that?
A few days ago, he said the same but that didn't stop Becca from being crazy again.
He'd repeated those words countless times in the past when Becca used to bully her without any reason.
Honestly, once she recovered, she was going to take the woman to the authorities.
“Are you listening, Violet?”
On getting no response from her, the man sounded worried.
Violet still ignored him.
She just wished to fall asleep, the way she'd done frequently these days.
The medications helped a lot in detaching her from reality for a while.
As Clyde was always here, bugging her, sleeping momentarily made her forget about him.
Tiny footsteps approached the door.
Clyde quickly put the ointment away and pulled the bedsheets up to cover her back.
When Mimi entered the room, Violet was fully covered.
“Mummy, when will you finally get up from the bed?” The little girl whined. “You've been like this for many days. Are you alright, Mummy?”
Violet sat up carefully, the unbearable pain shooting through her bones.
As Mimi jumped on the bed beside her, she forced a radiant smile. “I'll get out of bed soon. Mummy can't wait to take you to school.”
Mimi was supposed to start schooling two days ago.
But because Violet couldn't accompany her, she refused.
She'd literally refused to go despite Clyde convincing her.
“Hmmm. When will you and Daddy finally finish making my little brother? Am I getting more than one little brother?”
Violet blushed.
Of course, they wouldn't come up with that kind of silly excuse.
She could already guess the person who put that idea into her baby's head.
“Did the maid tell you that?” Clyde coughed dryly, trying to hide his embarrassment.
Mimi bobbed her head. “You and Mummy have been in bed for many days. I'm happy that Mummy's no longer mad at you, Daddy… But I'm also sad that Mummy doesn't wanna come to school with me yet.”
“It's alright, Baby…” Violet reached out and stroked her hair. “We'll both take you to school soon.”
“Okay,” She murmured. “I won't be mad, Mummy. Just make sure my baby brother is as cute as me. Ava said I can play with him all day once he arrives. I Can't wait!”
Urgh!
Violet had to lecture the maid as soon as possible.
Why was she putting false expectations into her baby's mind?
“Ow, I'm late. Aunt Freya, Ava, and I have to pick some fruits from the garden…” Mimi glanced at the toy wristwatch on her hand and hopped down from the bed. “Bye-bye, Mummy, Daddy.”
Then she skittered out of the room.
Violet sighed in relief.
She couldn't wait to get the bedsheets off her body.
She lay back down on the bed, letting him continue applying the ointment.
But Clyde hadn't picked up the ointment yet when a knock came from the door.
Quickly, Violet had to cover herself again, especially when the person standing at the door was his grandfather.
If Clyde didn't want even the servants to know about it, Grandpa Luke was the last person he'd let the news get to that his mother almost killed her.
Three weeks!
Just three more weeks, and Violet would be out of this mess!
“How's my beautiful granddaughter-in-law?”
Grandpa Luke's appearance confused her somehow.
The old man would usually summon them to his quarters when he had an important piece of news to share.
But now, he was here by himself.
Violet had to sit up again despite it being the most painful feeling. She returned his smile. “I'm fine, Grandpa.”
“Don't lie to me, Dear.” Grandpa Luke sat on the couch, holding his cane as support. “My Grandson has told me everything. That evil woman bullied you!”
Well, Violet didn't expect that.
She never knew that Clyde would have the mind to report his Mum to his grandfather.
Because the old man rarely tolerated Becca, Clyde never let any of her faults get to Grandpa Luke's ears.
“Tell Grandpa, do you still feel pain?”
Violet pursed her lips.
Of course, her whole body still ached.
“Hmmm. That woman will never change, I guess.” Grandpa Luke said gloomily. “I'll send her to the mental hospital for real this time if she doesn't seek your forgiveness.”
